What's the best way to study for microbiology?

Does anyone have some good sources for mnemonics or study tips?

I would highly recommend micro recall. It's great for the memorization because so much of micro is not hard to understand IMO, its more that it's so much to memorize and easy to confuse! Also, clinical micro made ridic simple is of course a classic 🙂 If you haven't heard of this text, I think you will find it quite amusing.

Antipseudomonal antibiotics

how to kill pseudomonas

1-tie it up (ticacillin)

2-hit it with a pipe (pipercillin)

3-(i think this one is right) run over it with a car carbenicillin.

We made up a lot of these for micro and pharm-

Just a general thought, but when learning about all the bacteria and viruses, make sure to keep in mind how their characteristics result in their tissue tropism (where they infect) and how they are infectious. If you work your way from the ground up with the bugs, you will be able to understand how they cause disease much better than you would otherwise.

Micro Made Simple is a great book, full of cartoons and mneumonics and ridiculous little quotes -- really helped me.
