Haha. Then, here's what you do. Place the animal crackers as far away from you as possible. That way, you'll have to get up and walk all the way to where you've stowed them. Also, you'll be less tempted to eat them if you know you have to walk quite a distance to get the animal crackers. I know what you mean abou the studying making you hungry...been there done that, but fortunately my metabolism is my friend. :D

Just eat a really heavy lunch/dinner...that'll minimize the snacking. Hey, why not make it educational while you're at it, and go through some of the digestive pathway as you eat those crackers...

Best of luck to you! :)

don't worry--in a few more weeks you'll be too nervous to eat! I ended up losing weight from the mcats--I looked sickly like I had been through hell  But, now that I think about it, early on I do remember eating whole pizzas....................

hmm.. due to my hectic schedule, i only started studying 2 weeks prior...i don't remember eating or breathing. i only wished i was kaput!

There is, of course, an easy way to avoid eating all those animal crackers. It involves not studying....... maybe not the route you want to go. If you're studying organic, then read the ingredient list and try to draw the structures of all the ingredients. If there are enough preservatives, you might just turn yourself off of animal crackers.

I've lost weight, but my eating has become more erratic..

try (like I do) working out 1-1.5 hrs each morning...then study...it will counteract those snacks we eat while studying, and will also give you more energy for studying...oh, and try going to the library..I never did that before, but now that I do I find myself able to be here for 6-8 hours at a time without thinking about food..

Yeah I agree, the library keeps me from doing other stuff including checking SDN and eating :)

try snacking on something else. .

i am officially off the animal crackers (actually only because i can't find them anywhere in the kitchen - did i eat them all???)
i took your advice and studied in the library. it totally worked.

I remember reading how focused you are on your studies (i.e. laminated notes to study in the shower, etc.) This will be a high stress period for you and you have mentioned your battle with an eating disorder in the past as well. PLEASE be careful not to relapse during this time. You need all the stamina and energy in the world to take the MCAT. Keep your healthy eating habits and exercise up, but be careful; this is the time when eating disorders reappear. Good luck.

heh. noticed the same thing the other day. the more I study, the hungrier I get! been snacking on pretzels myself.

I am just warning you guys that the eating does not stop when you finish with the mcat. I am currently going through the interview process and I am eating like a piggy <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> . Ohhh, the agony!!!

heh, I started eating bad again once I moved back to Tejas. Tried getting back into the good habits and working out but then I got into this mcat thing.

April 21st, I start again...if Im not too hungover that is.

i have been very tempted to turn to my eating disorder for comfort lately...but then i remember how horrible my life was and how i would never be able to have bulimia AND be a doctor.
i think this whole "munchies while i'm studying" thing is under control (but i seriously cannot find my darn animal crackers anywhere).

Did you look under your bed or under the table??
Perhaps you were so focused you put the animal crackers in the fridge and the juice in the cupboard :D

DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!!!!!!!! You need to focus on getting the best score you can and not on your weight. You need all your energy to do well--trust me it takes alot out of you. Diet when the test is over. Worked for me.

Wanna know the best snack?

Celery...

OR what I like:

Carrots and Fat free ranch dressing...yummy and fills ya up!

Try gum instead. But, if you're truly hungry and don't just have the munchies, eat - or you might forget and swallow the gum :)
