So I'm planning on submitting my AAOMCA by the end of July because I got pushed for time due to my MCAT. I'm taking it June 21 so I can't really worry about my personal statement until after my test. Is it bad that I won't get the app in on June 1st? Will that put me at a disadvantage over other applicants? I've been told by many that getting your app in ASAP is ideal but considering the circumstance that I'm in, I have no other choice but to submit it late July. Thanks!

It wouldn't put you at a disadvantage. Just make sure to submit the secondaries when you receive them as soon as possible. Adcoms need vacation time too you know.

Thanks! I needed that reassurance. A friend of mine was telling me to apply earlier because of my numbers, that they weren't competitive enough. So getting the app in would be better for me. I have a compelling story for my PS and I have stellar LORs lined up, along with the whole shabang (research with publication, shadowing, volunteering, co-founder of an org at school, etc). Listening to him utter those words were pretty discouraging. I want to focus on doing as well as I can on the MCAT and hoping that everything else I have can offset my very mediocre GPA.

I'm taking the MCAT July 6th but I plan on submitting my application as soon as spring term grades are out (I'm on a quarter system, so around June 18th). That way, my app can get verified and then my MCAT score can slip right in when it comes out in August. From my understanding, secondaries will still be sent even without an MCAT score in your file. I would say getting your app in and verified the sooner, the better.
