Submit or wait for Spring Quarter 07 grades and then submit?

Quick question. I've completed the entire app, but haven't e-submitted yet. I go to UCLA which is on the quarter system so my final grades for Spring quarter aren't available until June 27th. Should I wait until then and submit my application and transcript verification form? Or should I just submit now and update planned coursework in mid-november. I'm not taking the DAT until August, so the dental schools wouldn't look at my app until Aug anyways. Also, I think I could do really well this quarter and increase my overall and science gpa so the admissions committees will actually get a chance to see it. Thanks. Any help would be appreciated.

I am from UC Davis, and go by quarter system as well, and my advice to you is: don't wait. Final grades for spring quarter won't really show up until late June, but thats just the final grade. It actually takes even longer for those grades to show up on you official transcript - like an additional 2 to 3 weeks. (well, in the case of Davis) That means you wont be able to send in your transcript until July, and THEN its gonna take them 4 to 8 weeks to send it to dental school so you are wasting valualble time.

I have the same problem. In my opinion, you should wait. That's what I did and it turned out well because I found out that I received really good grades this sem. And since you aren't taking the DAT until August, everything will be a little bit delayed anyway. If I were you, pm "Lifeisgood." He submitted his AADSAS in July and he got into great schools. 🙂

You can't do that. When you submit your AADSAS, you can't update it again until after the mid year report. So, you better make sure that you have what you want on there NOW!

It's true that you can't "always" update your GPA - I think you can only update it in Dec I believe.

However, you absolutely want to get everything in BEFORE september because that is when adcom start reviewing the applications. I think DAT score usually arrive in 1 week after, so taking it in August is fine.

But the thing is, the app might actually take longer than expected.

Let's say your transcript isn't ready until first week of july, and you request your transcript to be sent out the day it's available.

Its gonna take 4-5 days to reach AADSAS, and then another couple days until AADSAS "receives" it. (Mine was mailed 5/20, and was received 5/31)

AADSAS says its gonna take 4-8 weeks to verify your GPA and transcript.
Then they need to mail it out for each school to get your app.

The whole thing may take 7-11 weeks. Unless you are very lucky and AADSAS was on top of all things, your app probably won't reach each school probably until mid or late sep.

Personally, because of my low overall GPA, i really want my app to get there asap. But i think if your stats are stellar, then its fine to wait until july to send it.
