hi i was i pleased with my DAT score and i know that with my GPA, that i will need a 20+. I’m submitting my application in June and marking on the application that I’m retaking my DAT August 6th. Will a bunch of schools start rejecting me right away before i even submit my new DAT? I’m just confused on what to do.. i know i need to retake but if i submit in June and submit my new DAT in August is that too late?

3.3 GPA with a very strong upward trend. 3.7 the last 2 years, and i started with a 2.3, and 2.6 for each semester freshman year. My extracurriculars are phenomenal though. 2,000 + hours volunteering, 250+ hours shadowing, founded a few things, President of pre dent club and a few other organizations. Very strong letters of recs as well. Also a very different but very good PS from what everyone told me. The admissions counselor at OSU was shook by my PS
I took my DAT in September and application was not complete until 10/1. I got waitlisted to many schools but finally got off the wait list for one school. My advice for you is, kill the DAT as if your life depends on it in August because your application won't be complete until September. If you want the committee to look at your application, your DAT score must stand out among other applicants. September may not be too late, but you may not get invited to cheaper schools. Good luck.

You should be alright. Since you're taking the DAT 8/6 then submit your application maybe July 6th. It'll be verified and processed before your DAT, so there's no point of submitting it now. Glimmer posted on a thread that if your DAT scores suck and you submit early and plan to retake later on, schools might not take it as seriously or they might put it to a "later" pile and might just forget about it. Just submit your application around mid-July, take your DAT and everything should processed and ready before mid-August so you should be good.

hi im still submitting in June with everything else, but just retaking in august.
I did the same. I submitted my application in June, but I have to take my DAT in September, and my application was not considered complete until October. Therefore, it doesn't matter you submit your application early, but when you tell the schools that you are in the processing of retaking the DAT, most of the time they will consider the application incomplete. I hope I make myself clear.
Oh damn.. so should i even bother retaking ? I’m just confused because everyone is telling me retake retake retake and then on the other hand I’ll be late as hell... idk if i should send it with my score i have and don’t say i have a retake or say I’m retaking or what..? I’m so confused now..
It is your call. If you want them to review your application with the previous DAT score, then your chance of getting interview invite is slimmer. However, if you tell them to wait and review your application with the new awesome DAT score then your chance is a lot higher. That is why I recommend you to kill the DAT as your life depends on it.
Sooo you’re saying wait until i take the new test and not submit until then...? Or apply now with my score and mark that I’m doing a retake?

Woah hold on. You're DAT will be submitted by August 3rd, then within 2 weeks your DAT will be posted and your application will be complete. That's not that late. You need to retake because if your DAT is really bad and with a 3.3 GPA you don't have much of a choice. You really aren't that late if everything is processed by August. Had you submitted everything mid-August then it would be sort of late because then it takes a few weeks to process, but you're submitting early so you're good.

I will be taking my DAT on August 6th. Y’all are just confusing me more..... i thought it was more important to submit early.. should i submit and just update later with my new score? I feel like waiting till mid August is just gonna hurt me?
I think you should submit June without your scores. As far as I know, most schools don't reject you if you mention the date you're planning to retake on your app. Just kill the DAT and I think you'll be fine since everything seems to be going great for you.

Because they might not consider you app seriously with your old DAT scores and GPA and they might put your application in a later pile and forget about it even if you do state you are re-taking the DAT. I even referenced the thread this was discussed on. Also, like I said you aren't submitting mid August, but submit your application mid-July so it'll be processed by the time your DAT scores are in.
