i hope to take orgo in the summer either at lehman college, city college of ny, hunter college or stonybrook (the nrw york ppl should be a little more familiar with these schools). i was just wondering if it matters which one of these schools i pick and if it is more beneficial to pick the better school (stony brook) out of them. the fee is the same pretty much for all of them. the thing is that i attend brandeis university (a pretty good science school) and i dont want the admissions people thinking that i am trying to take an easy way out of orgo by taking orgo at one of the easier colleges as opposed to the likes of stonybrook. also, do you guys recommend not taking lab in the summer wih the orgo

Here might be a good tip, only City College only allow you to take lect then take lab at later semeter, you can't take lec and lab at same time. when I called science department at City college they told me I have to know about Lec before lab. So I just registered to take at Brooklyn college this summer I heard the school has good science department. I assumed it's better take lab with your lec, you might understand better then in lec.

thanks for the reply. also, what is your guys take on the "presitge" situation. does it make a difference whether i take it at stony brook or one of those other eaiser schools?

Well, as long as you have orgo lec. before you take the lab the following fall semester and I assume that your school is the same as mine, you should be fine.
I don't think it matters whether you take a course in a city college or not.
I have friends who have gone to medical, dental, nursing schools from a city college where I go.
Personally I rather take a easy way out, especially with orgo chem. But that's just me...

also, is it stupid if i tak the lecture during the summer and lab during the year? i called tufts and they recommended that i tak both at the same time. but that was the opinion of only one school. some of the others that i called said it was fine if i did that. what do you guys think? taking lab during the summer is real time consuming. i rather be studying harder for orgo lec or taking an extra course in something else than taking lab i think.

I took orgo 2 lecture one semester and the lab a year later. No one mentioned it during my interviews. I'll be attending Tufts this fall too. 🙂
