Hey everyone!
idealist said:Hi guys, I just moved and I can't find my scholarship letter. I'm trying to finish my app, and I'm wondering if anyone can post the info from the letter. I know we were supposed to write an essay saying why we think we should get the scholarship, but I was wondering if there were any other important points. Like, where to send the application, what to enclose if you're applying for needbased (tax forms)..Any specifics would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Just bumping this to get an idea of who's coming to second look weekend! Can't wait to see you all there!

Accepted, but still trying to decide 100% where I want to go. I attend UB for undergrad, so I know a decent amount about the school. Any questions bout the area, feel free to ask 🙂
SwineLake98 said:Are you a commuter or a resident? I'm still debating whether or not I want to move out because my parents live pretty darn close to south campus...
themitz said:Resident... live in the South Lake Apartments on North right now, but if I end up staying here, I'm going to rent a house in Amherst (hopefully the williamsville area, but we'll see whats available).
If your parents are close to south and you get along with the family, I'd say live with them for at least the first semester. Having home cooked meals and a family to lean on definitely would lessen some of your stress 😀
willow18 said:Hi fellas, for the moment, it seems I'll be attending UB in the fall.
Lake (i first typed "swine" but that looked bad 😀 ), who cares about embarrassing, save some money and live with your parents.
I prob won't be attending the 2nd look. Just way too much $ to shlep up from the city. Have fun y'all.
themitz said:Lol ... Still dont know how I ended up in Buffalo from downstate (long island to be exact... you can hold it against me the rest of my life if you'd like 🙄 ).
Oh, and I'm still considering 2nd look (even though I goto UB already, I figure it would be a good way to meet a bunch of potential classmates..)
I def want to go out Saturday night - my flight is not till Sunday 🙂 BigRock, let me know if you want to exchange info so I can make sure to meet up with you!!BigRock said:well, 2nd look day is like 5 days away...can't wait!

Kazema said:I don't think there's a dress code, people will probably look somewhat nice because it is after all a mixer.
I messed up by the way, it's a PT/Pharm/Med mixer, no dents apparently.
gluon999 said:Looks like its going to be a three way tie between Buffalo, Stony, and Downstate for me. I am thinking most likely Buffalo. I did like the school a lot, just don't know if I want to deal with all the snow for 4 years.
SwineLake98 said:Ok...it's the begining of May...I want to know about scholarships!
I wonder how many people ended up submitting applications after Dr. Sevrin announced at Second Look that only 3 people had applied (I was one of those three) 😎

megamd2010 said:It sounds like most people in this forum are pretty convinced that they are going to attend Buffalo for med school. I have been accepted to both Buffalo and Downstate and am up in the air with respect to which school to go to. Both schools have comparable board scores and residency matching, and both gave me that "feeling" of belonging.
I was hoping that someone here could give me some of the reasons they are going to attend buffalo aside from proximity to home. What convinced you that Buffalo was the right school for you? Maybe some pros and cons of each school if you are familiar with Downstate.
Hope to get some responses, show your Buffalo pride! Thanks.
One of my friends who just finished first year of dental school at UB has a Mac...not to mention that I'm doing a research project in Biomedical Research and if you walk down the hall, half of the faculy offices have Macs. I wouldn't worry about it 🙂jmazz12 said:Hey this is off topic, but does anyone know if students can have apple computers and run os x, in other words does their software require windows? thanks a lot.

Kazema said:Us '09-ers have got a hard-core Mac contingent going. Everything works, compatibility's not a problem. The computing services have a program called Citrix that lets you run their software remotely through a client - there is a Mac version of Citrix so you can access all that software with your Mac, no problem. There's really not all that much software you need anyway, just the ability to go on the internet for the most part.
Plus you get to join our club. Our awesome Mac geek club. I know you just can't wait.
That goes for all of you. Buy Macs. Now.
