I interviewed in mid-September at SUNY Downstate and just happened to browse through the status update thread and entered the Downstate's 'Admissions Checklist' status page. There used to be a table only with green checkmarks for the following items up until last time I checked (maybe last week?):


AMCAS Paper Application 7//2007
Application Processing Fee 7//2007
Committee/Premedical Advisor Letter
-OR-
Two Letters of Recommendation (One Letter is from a Science Faculty Member) 7/19/2007
MCAT Scores Received & Verified 7//2007
SUNY Downstate Medical Center Supplemental Application

But when I entered this time, I saw another table below that got added to the page with the following title: 'Student Admissions Requirements Needed for Registration' with a table list of the following items with 'x' marks in the front to indicate that they have yet receved it. The items on the list are,

What can this mean? I know that they said we should be expecting the outcome in 6-8weeks from our interview, which would be some time in late Oct-early Nov for me. Did this table pop up for everyone who interviewed there? I'm just a bit perplexed (and hopeful of course 😳 ).
 
looks like an acceptance! why else would they ask for a deposit? congrats!

Wow~~I don't know how to react to all this. I mean, I don't want to get my hopes up, but yes, it does sound like that table means something. I just hope I would get a physical notification from them to confirm. It's like, I want to celebrate but I'm holding myself from doing so JUST IN CASE. I was bummed out today b/c I saw many others post acceptances to another school I thought I would hear back from given that I interviewed the 1st week of interview cycle for the school...only to find that I'm still 'under review'.

I really hope this means something b/c then I'm going to really cry. 🙂 I will update this thread once I can confirm either way. In the mean time, if anyone can confirm for SURE, I'd appreciate your feedback as well! I tried looking at past year's thread, but no one seems to have experienced this update in their status page before receiving notification through mail.

In any case, thank you nycfella and WaterBottle for your wonderful predictions! :laugh:

The week of 9/10~~by the way, are we sure guys? 😍 I will hold my breath until I can confirm with a package~~🙂 Good luck to everyone else out there! Downstate is my top 2 choice! I hope it really works out.
 
Yeah I have this status page change as well...but like is this legit?

Has anyone determined what this means for sure? Also, can someone post the status link. Thank you.
 
Just called. I asked what the checklist was for...the lady said, "oh, they will be updating those status pages tomorrow to show what information we have received," i.e. deposit, transcripts, prereqs. But when I asked point-blank if this means I've been accepted, she said she couldn't tell me over the phone.

I tried also to see if I could get any info. I said I have this new message that says 'health req'ts were not uploaded. contact admissions office' along with a whole new table that asks for a bunch of stuff. She stated that I don't have to worry about anything and that those items are for once I'm accepted. I also asked when I should hear about the outcome and she said 6-8 weeks from when I interviewed. Which means~~I need to wait til at least end of this month. :scared: So basically, we still don't have a definite answer.😛

Well i'd say it's a decent indication, because I interviewed there and don't have this page chage.
 
Just checked again...status page has reverted back to the original short checklist. I guess they decided to rescind my offer after I called... = )

Me too 🙁 But I never gave out my information~~maybe they figured that it wasn't a good idea to have that table there to mislead people and took it out. 😕
 
Well, I still think the fact that only some of us saw the change means something. Why would the admissions lady say they would soon be updating the second checklist with registration info if they had no intention of accepting us?
 
mine went back to the normal page as well... waht gives?

i thought for sure it meant an aceptance

yea thats what i have too - do the people who at one point got the other message (before it went back to normal) have this too or is it only the rest of us? hope they didn't clear my file for a rejection. muireinin did you get the original change about 3 days ago?

I now have this "No Admissions requirements were uploaded for you..." message too. I haven't even received an interview from Downstate, and upon initially seeing it thought it may mean a rejection. Seems to me like they're having some issues with their system and we're all reading way too much into it at this point.

yes, but i had a weird thing where it said follow this link for registration, but the link didn't work.

i'm hoping that their systems are pretty messed up and that it's not a rejection...
 
Has anyone heard from Downstate lately? Any acceptances lately?
 
Today I logged in to check the status and it said my AMCAS ID does not exist in the database. I tried 5 times and got the same message. Is it a bad sign or what? They already removed me from the system? I hope this is just a computer glitch.

I was able to log in this morning. Good, they added my file back. Whew!
 
aamc ID for user and password. no worries. i dont think there was an email telling us about it. i found out through sdn
 
Hey, my status page just changes.
Not!

Yes, there was an email about login name and password. It was sent out a couple days after the secondary application invite.
 
um...not to be too hopeful, but my page now has a new line for "residence papers" and a red X. I'm hoping that's good news. I'll wait as patiently as possible for the snail mail.:luck:
 
mine has that been updated to that also. I too shall wait patiently.

hmmmm.... I don't have that update either. hope that doesn't mean a rejection! 😱
 
Perhaps a Downstate MS 1/2/3/4 can shed some light on this.

I've been scratching my head trying to make some sense out of this nonsense. Perhaps the "residence papers" only appear for NY residents? 🙂
 
The "residence papers" status change translated into an acceptance. I called this morning to ask. I interviewed on 11/13. It wasn't clear to me if all accepted students get that change, or if it is for those whose residence is questioned (as mine may be). She said the letter will expain it all.

I have the same item on my checklist so I call to ask about it. The lady on the phone had no idea what it meant and asked me to call back on Friday. AH! Now I'm heading out to my NYMC interview with this hanging over my head. ARGH!

That's interesting because I cancelled my NYMC interview at the last minute based on my acceptance to Downstate - can't afford all the travel.
 
Congrats, Tropicana. I hadn't realized all you guys had already tried to find out what the "Residence Papers" line meant. In real time, my "waiting patiently" for the mail lasted 2 and half days until I sent an email to find out. It felt like 2 and and a half months. This processs really does skew your sense of reality.

No reply yet, btw.

Interviews are conducted here into April (I interviewed in Feb. last year and got accepted without being waitlisted - and I didn't have amazing stats or anything). So, don't lose faith if you get a late interview. Good luck!
 
I just checked my admissions checklist and it has a bunch of stuff under student health requirements for registration and student admissions requirements for registration. I hope it means I'm in cuz it's definitely my top choice. Interviewed around mid november.
