Super creepy crna loses license

Was just about to post this. Buddies of mine told me it was front page news for the same behavior at the University of Toronto a few years back

Not a good time to be an Atlantic Anesthesia partner. Those assualted women could sue the group for this CRNA's behavior and be on the hook for damages.

Nah. The business entity has zero assets.

Sue away.

I used to work with this guy - that hospital and group had an independent ("collaborative") model where the CRNAs did their cases and we did ours. I remember being grateful that I wasn't somehow medicolegally tied to any of his cases.

No idea what the actual liability risk is there but definitely wouldn't ever want to be the test case.

ANesthesia groups sometimes elect to buy a group policy to protect the whole entity from liability. If one member or employee gets into hot water, the plaintiffs may elect to go after the group and/or hospital as well. They like to go after those with big pockets. A CRNA makes good $, but you likely are the bigger prize.

NO assets in your business entity? No problem...just sue each individual member of the group. Group policy is just another level of protection and re-insurance for everyone. It certainly brings more lawyers and resources into the legal fight.

So much to unpack here..

He masturbated to orgasm MULTIPLE times in the OR during cases?

I'm still fascinated by human behavior, I'd love to have the time to dig in to the series of deviance and decision-making that led up to the first time he thought "hey I'm going to whip this out and go to town in the OR during a case"...
