i'm trying to conduct a very small scale experiment for a class, and need to figure out a way to create a web-based version of it....if anyone has any input, i would really appreciate it.

my mini-study involves a video clip, some reading material, and a brief survey (15 questions), with mostly multiple choice responses. i would really prefer to be able to give out a link and have participants complete it, instead of being physically present for each separate participant. (and if there's a way to automatically randomly assign participants to the experimental vs control condition, rather than creating two separate versions of the whole thing, that would, of course, be pretty darn amazing.)

i guess i could do survey monkey, but (poor student that i am) would prefer a free way to do it, since the free version of survey monkey won't work with all these requirements. i was thinking of creating it as a blog entry, (2 separate ones, one for each condition), but i don't know how i could control progression without being physically present. (like, participants could scroll down/jump a page, and i would rather not have them do that).

any thoughts//suggestions? anything would be really helpful at this point!

thanks so much!

I think, I'm not positive, that the most complete version of Adobe Acrobat (Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended) can handle that... meaning if you can create it in Acrobat, you can email or link to the .pdf(s) that you want to use, since it can create fillable forms. You'd just have to find someone with Acrobat Pro Ex that could let you use their machine.

Do any of your professors have subscriptions? Usually, at least one of mine had anything I could ever need within the potentially useful gimmicky software world. 🙂

Good luck!! Sounds like a complex, but interesting, effort!!

thanks for the tips! i'll look into both of those ideas.... kind of hadn't considered asking a professor before, but i know various people at my school use survey monkey, so maybe one of them will be able to help out!

thanks again!
