TA misplacing homework. Arghhh

I have turned in my biology homework on time every week for the whole term. Two weeks ago I noticed that one assignment had not been handed back. When I asked the TA about it she said she hadn't received it. I told her I turned it in and she said she would check in with one of the other TAs to see if they had it. Apparently nobody had it and now my TA is trying to insinuate that I didn't do it. I am frustrated and unsure what, if anything, I can do. The professor so far has been unsympathetic and I don't think he'll intervene on my behalf.

Has this happened to anyone? What was the end result? I don't know if I should just let it go or keep pushing. It is 1% of my grade and could end up being the difference between an A- and B+...

If it's likely to make a difference in your grade, politely keep pursuing it but don't push to hard as ruining your reputation w the professor will do far more harm than will a B+ instead of an A-. If it won't likely make a difference or you can recover your grade w/o the 1%, I'd probably just let it go. You might even talk to the professor about it and make it plain you're an adult and can recover from the loss of an assignment. That may get you some brownie points for later if/when that prof contributes to your LORs and/or recommends you for research teams, clinical jobs, tutoring jobs, TA jobs, etc.

Thanks for the feedback. That is pretty much the tact I am taking at the moment. I am just worried that this issue is somehow going to make me come off as not only a slacker but a liar too since the TA is implying that I didn't turn it in. I offered to do an additional assignment to make up for the lost one so we'll see how that goes...

I would say:

"I'm sorry to keep bring this up, but I have certain principals. I know I did this assignment and it is not right for me to not receive credit for something I did. I realize there is no way for me to prove that I turned it in, but I hope that my track record shows that not-turning in an assignment is out of the question for me. If you feel uncomfortable giving me credit without finding the assignment, perhaps I can do it over again to gain credit. Thanks for your time."
