taking org chem and physics same time

hey everyone.
I want to take org chem I and physics I in fall and org chem II and physics II in spring. During Winter I am getting my knee surgery so I won't be able to take any classes and during summer I was thinking about studying for my MCAT so I can take it in September.

Taking those two classes simultaneously should be fine. As far as MCAT is concerned, what year are you applying for?

I took Chem I, Physics I, OChem I and Anatomy concurrently in the Fall, and then Physics II, Chem II, OChem II and Biochemistry in the Spring. Excellent MCAT prep. I didn't really even have to study for the MCAT after that year!

Typically, but I'm a non-trad, and I talked the school into letting me do it. I got straight A's so they were cool.

I'll admit that I had to read several chapters from my Chem book at the beginning of the semester to refresh my memory on VSEPR and molecular orbital theory, but once you get past that stuff O Chem really is very different from Inorg Chem and doesn't necessarily build on many Gen Chem principles.

I am taking OChem1 and Physics2 as well as calculus 1 this coming fall semester. I think it is totally possible if you are willing to work your tail off 😀

Yeah. Seriously Orchem can be an introductory course for the college freshmen. Things that you need to know from Inorgo are re-studied in my Orchem class at the beginning of the semester. But you probably need Inorgo for lab classes.

I did it. Ochem and gen chem have little in common other than the periodic table and the title of the classes.

To the OP: You can definitely take organic and physics at the same time. I'd go as far as saying that if you can't pull off getting good grades in these two classes at the same time you won't make it in med school.

You'll be fine; most pre-meds (as you can see here) do it that way, either because they have to fit in the Physics somewhere (as a bio major) or because they want to have it before they take P Chem (as a chem major).
