I took Gen Bio 1 and 2 almost 8 years ago, would taking upper division BIO classes now (i.e., anatomy/phys, microbiology) be extremely hard or is all necessary info taught again in the upper division BIO classes?

It has been my experience that most bio classes are mostly new material. Sure the general bios were a good foundation, but not really necessary.

Now if you want to be prepared for the DAT, you will not relearn all the same info as bio 1+2 in your upper division classes. You may need to take them again.

It's not hard and a lot of similar info is repeated in Micro, but A&P is a lot more complex. Take these classes in general since they will be good on the application and are required by certain schools. These courses may or may not help you for the DAT, so keep that in mind.

I have also took an 8 year break to return again. I think classes are as hard as your professor wants to make it. So going on ratemyprofessor.com is more important than YOU in the equation. It just takes time and an actually effort to get A's, that is up to you to put it in. If you do put the time and effort in, at the end of the semester you will say upper level biol is really not that bad. Most important thing it to pick a good professor.
