TAMU (IS) vs. UTHSCSA (IS)

I am grateful to be accepted to these two schools. COA of both schools are pretty identical. Any advice is appreciated !
Texas A&M Dallas:
Pros:
_I keep hearing this school has the best clinical training in Texas and they have a lot of patients.
_New building.
_Dallas city has more things to do.
_I feel like my interviews here a lot.
Cons:
_Heard bad things about their new curriculum.
_Traffic in Dallas.
_Never lived in Dallas before.

UT Health San Antonio:
Pros:
_Integrated curriculum has been used for couple years.
_More well-known in academics if this matters.
_I have family here and I plan to practice in this area in the future.
_Traffic seems better than Dallas.
Cons:
_More gunners here.
_Tougher the first two years.
_It seems like students don't have enough patients.

Its a really hard decision for me to make. Thank you for giving me advice 🙂

Biased opinion: San Antonio coz I only interviewed at A&M and that’s my sole option

Unbiased opinion: Ive heard the same about A&M having the best clinical training from their students. Funny thing is though, I met a San Antonio student back in the summer who said San Antonio was the best and everyone loves it there. So really, I guess students may be biased and vouch for whatever school they attend. Traffics annoying but I mean if you don’t live that far it may not matter much? Also I heard bad things about their new curriculum the first couple months, but I mean it does take time to adjust for everyone. I heard it got better. To your San Antonio points, the family aspect and planning to practice there I think is big. Those are big things for me, I know I’d much prefer to be with fam but for you it just depends how much you value those for the next four years.

Also imo There’s gunners everywhere, and every dental school is toughhh. In the end it’s up to u but I hope I gave some decent info.

Lol no, I haven’t heard back yet. The biased part was kind of a joke saying I hope you choose UTHSCSA coz that technically opens up a spot that who knows maybe I’ll have a chance at.

I’m hoping I’ll eventually get in.

Lmao glad you’re honest. Have to wonder why some people on this forum make the recommendations they do.

A&M has the higher clinical requirements than San Antonio for everything but fillings I think. I wasn’t impressed by UTHSCA at my interview but I’d go there if you have family nearby and want to practice there.

I am sure those high clinical requirements will be very helpful with all of the new clinical staff they are having to bring in.

LOL. I’m sure the amount of people leaving is overblown. I talked to a D3 and he said like two retirement age profs left over it.

I heard it was most of the clinical teachers according to the D4's. Something about not wanting to change to the new system... That's just hearsay though.
