Target

I wouldn't worry.

Target is fairly douchey in their hiring process. They have "recruiters" do all the work on the candidates, even interviews(?), and the DM's act like they don't want any part of it. They even sent out emails to all their pharmacists not to give out contact info for the DM's. Why? So they're not "bothered" with applicants?

Total chach. 👎

I haven't heard of anyone from our school getting offers yet either.

Did you complete the online application?

Online app check, psych eval check. follow up interview uncheck. Maybe they aren't hiring... they don't have many pharmacies anyway. CVS is buying me dinner in a couple of weeks lol

I got an offer from them about a month ago, about 2 weeks after I interviewed with them at the Career Fair at my school.

I am going to a career fair in jan. I will probably interview with them.

bump

anyone else?

i interviewed with them a couple months ago, did the online survey, sent back the application they UPS sent me...........and nothing

btw.........i was wondering about the socal area

🙄

Go to any grocery pharmacy, but do not go to Target.
Worked there for them for 4 months in central Florida, and will never and ever come back to them.
I got a position in a hospital as a staff pharmacist, then the DM was very unhappy when I gave him my fairwell letter, I found out a week letter he just terminated me while I first quit them.
They haven't even paid for all the hours I worked for them, and I'm fliing a lawsuit against them.
The only good thing with Target is you get health coverage right away, and don't need to make certain hours to benefit it.
It might be different in other regions, but our administration was a disaster, and our DM was an dingus.

Yikes. Sounds like a really bad experience. But do you think it depends on your DM and administration? I wonder if anyone else on here knows anything about Target? I'm trying to decide where to work for the summer.

I worked for Target for 1 year as an intern while in pharmacy school (loved it), 2 months as a graduate intern (not too bad), and a little over 2 months as a licensed pharmacist. HATED IT! A few words of advice...I'm sure it's like this with any retail position, but if I could go back in time, I would have asked to float first. I was placed in an extremely busy store with insufficient tech help and employee drama among the techs. The schedule was based on 42 hours/week, and rotated biweekly so that I had every other F, Sa, and Su off. Weekends were 9-6, and weekdays were 9-9. At this particular store, I ended up working 14 hours on weekdays with one 30-minute break (essentially leaving my house at 8:15 am and returning home after 11 pm on weekdays that I worked).

I now work at a pharmacy that delivers to skilled nursing facilites, and I'm really loving it. I did like Target overall, and I can't really see myself working for another chain. If I did return to retail, I'd go back to Target, but I wouldn't make the same mistake again. I'm moving to Washington state in a few months, and I'm looking mostly at hospital and long-term care positions.

Hmm.. seems like the internship was good, but it's not so good working there when you're a pharmacist. But if I was to intern there this summer (I'll finish P2 this year), I was wondering what is the minimum amount of time you have to work to get the $3000 tuition reimbursement?

When I was hired as an intern last year, I was eligible for the tuition reimbursement as of day 1 of employment, and I only worked 8.5 hours per week on Sundays.

Can you "bank" the tuition reimbursement?

I'm a first year student so if I was to intern with Target through school but not use the tuition reimbursement until after I graduated is that possible? I wouldnt want to tie myself down so early in pharmacy school, but if I like a company and want to stay then why not get tuition reimbursement. I guess I will ask them if I get an offer.

Those online personality tests sure are tricky....hope I passed it!

I'm not sure what you mean. There are no strings attached to tuition reimbursement, which is one of the great perks. You get $3,000 per year as long as you are employed with Target. You don't have to sign any contracts. Even now that I am only employed as a relief pharmacist, I still got my $3000 this year. And when you quit you don't have to pay any of it back.

OK thanks for clarifying. At first I thought you got tuition reimbursement in return for a year of being a pharmacist for them after graduation, which is how many other chains work. But now I am understanding it as you get $3k per year as long as you are employed by them for that year....which is a super deal!

Target really turned me off with their interviewing process. It appeared that had cashiers interviewing me. They were all really young and just had their name on their name tag, I saw one person that had pharmacist under it. And when the interview began they read the whole thing off a pre written sheet, literally the whole thing. Ex "ok I am going to begin by asking you a series of questions, do your best to respond honestly. At any point I may interrupt you for clarification or comment, do not be alarmed this does not mean you are answering incorrectly." And they asked all these situational questions and had to have specific answers. Like tell me about a time you had a particularly hard project to finish and how did you do it. I spoke generally about school and making sure I was on top of things and allocating my time and knowing what needed to be done first and making sure I stuck to deadlines. That wasn't good they needed a specific one and then they needed to know the outcome. uggghhh, they really annoyed me.

hahaaahahahaha

brings back memories of october

i still haven't heard from them.......and i thought i KILLED that interview too

yeah, it was two on one. I want to email them about their recruiting process it was a total turn off.

After all the hype everyone had about the interview I didnt think it was really too bad. Walgreens asked some situation questions too. I thought Target's online quiz part was sort of tricky though. I wonder how long after career fair it is until I hear back about an internship offer.

see, they had us fill out a whole application at the interview then told us to go fill it out online also. wtf? yeah walgreens did ask some situational questions but good god target had to have a specific time and how I handled it and the outcome. I am sorry but I never had a problem with a big project, I just did them and everything was fine.

Great... and what's the minimum hours I have to work per week?

yeah maybe, except you can go get that same salary and not have to go through all the stupid interview crap at all. And maybe you haven't had many jobs or had many interviews but theirs was just not run well.

like the above poster said, you can get the same job anywhere for the same, if not more without stupid questions. For any professional field, it is disrespectful to somebody being interviewed, if all the interviewers can come up with is reading off two sheets of paper. If I took the time to research the company, show up and talk to them, the least they can do is do the same. The relationship goes both way. This has nothing to do with the money. We are not prositutes. . . , Pharmacists make their moneys worth, or they wouldnt be getting paid that much. If anything, the company should be thanking you for helping them make that money.
