I will begin teaching a class at the local community college in a health related field. Is this worth an update to schools?
This sounds pretty cool but I would include it along with other significant updates. Isn't it also a bit early for updates?
Just out of curiosity, does one need a Master's to teach at a CC?
Ive got a bit of a DO deposit coming up issue.
No i meant I may receive an acceptance from a DO school which would require a 2000 non refundable deposit. I would prefer to go instate for a cheaper MD school, but the md school may not send out an acceptance until a few weeks later. You mean you want to send the updates to DO schools? I guess that would be OK since they run their cycle a bit differently.

It will be due around that time. The DO school is fine school and would go there but it would be 170K more in cost of attendance. I guess it might be worth spending the 2K and loosing it for the certaintyI'm not sure but I know MD schools can't release acceptances until at least Oct. 15. Hopefully your deposit is due after that date.
Pay the deposit and guarantee yourself a career in medicine should you decide to see it through. $2000 is a lot of money, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to what you'll hemorrhage out in the next several years. No i meant I may receive an acceptance from a DO school which would require a 2000 non refundable deposit. $2000 nonrefundable? You mean, like instantly non-refundable, not just nonrefundable after X date? Because that's ridiculous. No i meant I may receive an acceptance from a DO school which would require a 2000 non refundable deposit. It says non refundable. I think it is instantly non refundable. I also think its action to prevent people from using it as a safety school.$2000 nonrefundable? You mean, like instantly non-refundable, not just nonrefundable after X date? Because that's ridiculous.
You haven't even done a day's worth of work yet, so why would this impact adcomm decision-making? At least wait until the end of your first term.I will begin teaching a class at the local community college in a health related field. Is this worth an update to schools?
I agree with this.Teaching experience is looked upon quite favorably, but it's much more impactful when someone has actually taught a class and can meaningfully reflect upon their experience.

Now that you put it that way, short of a Nobel peace prize there is no need to update.Do you really think that the Admission dean is going run out of his/her office, and scream excitedly to their admin "we have to invite libertyyne! S/he just started a teaching job!!!"
????

Does passing the turing test count?Nah, Turing Awards and Fields Medals are update-worthy too.
