Hi guys. 🙂 Would you happen to know what kind of job opportunities there are for LVTs who want to teach what they know?

The school I currently attend has had this open for a while:

Veterinary Technician/Technologist
Job Open Date 07-20-2015
Job Close Date Open Until Filled
Status Full-Time
Job Summary
Licensed, Registered or Certified Veterinary Technician/Technologist, Veterinary Technology Teaching Program, Department of Animal, Rangeland and Wildlife Sciences, Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Human Sciences, Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
Job Responsibilities
1. Assist in the instruction of undergraduate-level courses to meet the needs of the Veterinary Technology program. This includes classroom and laboratory responsibilities.
2. Participate in the academic affairs of the department, college, and university, as needed.
3. Other duties as assigned

Sounds interesting...I guess they're working on creating a vet tech. program here!

I would check out the schools around you that offer vet tech programs and see if they are hiring. Might even be able to do an adjunct position to get started!

I am applying to work in the teaching hospital within the local vet school as a technician. Part of the requirement is being able to help teach the students some of your skills. I had also applied to a lab coordinator position that had a preference for LVTs. So basically anywhere in academia that a LVT can work, you are likely to be teaching. The school may determine if you are teaching vet students versus vet techs and even within a school there are many different rolls to fill.

Definitely second the teaching hospitals. The techs have helped me sooo many times and are often my go to people for things. We also have a program set up with a local vet tech program where the students do rotations through here, so we have specific techs who are involved in teaching/grading for that program.
