(I'm brand new to this website) I am a little bit behind on my prereqs in terms of taking the DAT. I would like to try to avoid the "bridge year" at all costs if I possibly can. I keep on reading things on how great Chad's videos are, but at $50 a month, with a possible ten month use to teach myself, that becomes very expensive. I am wondering what possible resources there would be to teach myself Organic chemistry in order to be prepared for the DAT. Thank you in advance!

I would definitely recommend taking an organic chemistry class, but if you insist on teaching yourself.....Klein has a pretty good organic chemistry book.

DAT Destroyer!!! I am confident you will get the score you want. Besides, you can email the instructor and he will guide you as well. Focus on what's ahead!!!

I looked up DAT Destroyer, and there's also something called organic chemistry odyssey... are you referring to dat destroyer itself or organic chemistry odyssey? and also, do you have experience in teaching yourself orgo?

I don't mind paying for it as long as the price is reasonable... teaching myself orgo with the chad videos would cost me around $400

lmao, you don't learn Orgo by watching Chad's videos over and over for 10 months. You set aside a week or two and dedicate it to watching the videos and taking extensive notes. Then when the subscription to the videos expires you can continue reviewing the material through the notes.

I do understand that, but is that the best resource for teaching yourself?

I'd say so. Once you've taken (ideally exhaustive) notes, you could then do practice problems to identify weak spots, and use other available resources to reinforce your knowledge. While you hold the subscription to his videos, you should also take advantage of his quizzes to make sure the concepts have sunk in.

But this method isn't exactly ideal...is it not possible for you to take your orgo courses (even if it's two semesters condensed over the summer) first? That would honestly make it a lot easier versus learning Orgo from scratch by yourself. I've seen people do that before for the DAT (and even still do well), but it makes things a lot more challenging than they need to be.

Thank you very much for your input. I will be taking Bio 2, Chem 1, and physics 1 next semester... and Chem 2 over the summer... Depending on how the scheduling works I'm not sure if I'll be able to take the 1st half of orgo over the summer after chem 2. If at all possible, I'd like to avoid the "bridge year". I'm a junior.
