I'm out of state. I think they took this into account as they only offered me June dates.
Ahh ok that makes sense then. I had heard that they sometimes invite in-state people later than out-of-state but idk if that's true. And for 5/21 that would be really late!

It's a required test to get into medical school, didn't you know??

lol. It's your GPA * 10 + MCAT -1. LizzyM, an adcom, devised the formula and a sheet so you could compare your score to other school's scores to see which places you should apply
Wow I guess I'm a pretty awful premed for not knowing this! haha For real though, news to me!!! Thanks for clearing it up.

I've applied to several other post-baccs/Master's programs, but I just found out about Temple's AMCS program today, and it looks insanely awesome. I could knock out the app in the next 24 hours, but with the deadline being June 1st and only 35-40 students matriculating, are my chances less than slim?

Any feedback is much appreciated. Congrats to all of you who have already been accepted, and best of luck to those waiting to hear back!

I don't think anyone can answer your question with full confidence. It is rolling admissions so applying as earliest as you can is ideal. If I were in your position I would still apply. The worst thing that can happen is that you don't get an interview - the same scenario in which you don't apply at all. There has only been one interview date so far so it wouldn't hurt to apply (except for the application fee and time you put into the application itself).

Good points about the best and worst case scenarios. I guess I really just wish I had found out about this program sooner. Thanks for the info, going to get to work on this app!

Has anybody for the ACMS who completed in early March heard anything yet? Rejection or Interview invitation?

Same I haven't heard anything either and was complete late March/early April. Sigh....I wish they would let us know if we got rejected instead of making us wait till June/July. Making us wait so long give us false hope 🙁 in case its a rejection.

I am just about to submit my application.
sGPA - 3
cGPA - 3.1
took the MCAT once - 25R...studying again to retake it in July.
Great LORs, and extracurriculars (especially Clinically related)
Post-Bacc Certificate in Clinical Trials Design and Mangement (3.7 GPA)

What are my chances?

Idk yo. If the application fee was disposable to you then sure. But I think with those stats its almost a guaranteed rejection

Interview invite this morning for mid-June (complete around late March). Wasn't expecting this at all, but thrilled to get the opportunity!

Congrats!! And good luck to those that interview tomorrow. (Mind sharing stats? I was also complete around late March)

For those people who have an interview in mid-June:

Can you share your plan for applying to AMCAS? As I understand it (though I may be wrong) if you are accepted to ACMS then you are only allowed to apply to Temple this cycle. However, I'd like to submit AMCAS before knowing whether I will be accepted to Temple. Do you believe it is fine to submit AMCAS and, given acceptance to Temple, simply not complete secondaries?

Thanks for any insight!

Received an interview this morning for June 16th. Complete 4/12. Will be withdrawing, though!

Did you get accepted into another med school?

For those who received interview invites, was it via email or phone?

Without revealing too much (although I'm sure it's in my post history somewhere), I think my MCAT is a point or two higher and my GPAs a tenth or two lower than ACMS averages.

This is a question to call and ask directly about. I was under the impression that those who get into the program didn't have to submit an AMCAS at all (although I might be wrong on that [Edit: I was wrong, see rb121's post below]). I would think you'd have to withdraw your AMCAS once you matriculate to ACMS, but that's just my speculation.

Email.

Also something I just noticed, they've updated the MCAT requirements for the 2015 test- apparently those taking the 2015 version will need to score at 70th percentile or better in each subsection. It also says MCAT scores back to 2012 will be accepted for 2014 ACMS admission and for entering into TUSM in 2015.

People at the interview said that you still need to submit an AMCAS. They said it was just a formality, but you still need to do it. You can ask Grace at the interview, though.

My interview invite said Wednesday, June 16th... yet June 16th is a Monday. I sent an email and will call tomorrow. In case anybody else also had this problem, I can follow up with you once it's cleared up.

Same here. I was told a second email is going to be sent out to correct it, but it didn't happen today. The actual date is Monday the 16th.

What is the MCAT average for ACMS? I know it isn't required but is there a mean score for those that submit their scores?

I come to this forum on my MCAT study breaks haha. Applied to ACMS and complete 4/15. E-mailed them asking my status, heres what they said:

I was initially pretty bummed because I thought I applied too late, but someone from 4/12 just got an interview. And they're going into July, so there's hope!

How did the interview go for those who had yesterday (5/21)?

There's an interview date in July? When is it?

Edit: Duh, I just noticed it was in the email.

I feel like it went really well! Like everyone said before it was really laid back, everyone was super friendly and inviting and it seemed like they really just wanted to show you how awesome it is there (not forced at all). It was very small, only around 8 kids I think! But they did mention the next one is much larger and only 10 have been accepted so far. So now I'm crossing my fingers and hoping we'll hear back on the day they said we would!

Complete back in December. Just awaiting on that rejection letter lol

Decision letters will be mailed at the end of the application process. So if you don't hear anything back is not "bad" but it is definitely not "good" either. I am in the same boat.
