Weeks ago? The split happened 2 years ago.THat's because it was decided only a couple of weeks ago.

The number they are quoting this year is 238.That is a broad range. Can anyone be more specific?
Talk To Me Baylor! Let Me Hear You Say "accepted"!
They've always had that scholarship.I think there are a few of us who can hear from Baylor or Vanderbilt starting tomorrow (at least, I know Baylor isn't planning anything today, and I don't have any reason to believe that Vandy is.) Like Jota keeps saying, there were remarkably few early acceptances out of Baylor last year (find the acceptances thread to know what to expect) so I'm not holding my breath. The fact that I'm enormously stressed out actually helps me avoid dwelling on the admissions process. I doesn't, of course, help with any other aspect of my life. 🙁
In other news, I was at UTSW yesterday, and nothing that I saw gave any credibility to the rumors of gunnerinfestedness. Many students turned up for the free food, and all the ones I talked to were friendly and capable of carrying on conversation about something other than biology. One significant piece of news: apparently this year there are scholarships so that any OOS folks accepted to UTSW will pay in-state prices.
They have a very well-run interview day; I'd say for the "best at selling themselves" award they tie with Baylor among the schools I've interviewed at so far. I didn't really expect to like the school at all, based on everything I've heard, but I ended up thinking I could be happy there.

Nice... wish I could have applied there...Tech and A&M also do this
That much is part of the Texas in-state rules and regulations... all TX state schools get to charge students who get at least $1000 of scholarship as if they were in-state students. Does anybody know whether Baylor follows that same guideline?...and UTMB wil give instate tuition if you get $1000 of private scholarship $ on your own..... pretty good deal if you ask me.

hi guys,
going to El Paso in November and i am wondering about whether i should rent a car or take cabs or busses or just run around wildly until they take me to the hospital. what do you think?
THANKS!
did you eat a brevis sandwich? hehehe...
Hello Everyone. I am new to SDN and in need of advice from fellow Texans. I am not sure if I am posting in the right thread, but here it goes...
I just received my August 2006 MCAT scores (7 PS/9 VR/10 BS/P WS = 26P).
I heard there were cutoffs of 8's in each section for UTH and maybe other TX schools to be considered for interviews. Is that true? I am so depressed with a 7 in PS (studied hard but eh). This is my second time taking the MCAT and I received a 7 in PS last year. I am a reapplicant, instate, recent graduate with BS in Bio, 3.68 overall & 3.83 Science. (verified 8/23)
I feel like a got a 15 in Blackjack =( Not bad. Not good. Stay. Hit.
Let me know what yall think. Thanks.
Congrats on your acceptance!I called UTMB, TTU and TCOM to see where things stand for OOSers today. I got accepted to TCOM (letter is in the mail today). TTU told me they haven't made decisions yet and couldn't tell me when that would happen. UTMB thought they would be sending out letters this week, but she couldn't check my file to see where I stood.
everyone!
Does UTSW poop on your head if you call asking about your status?
I've been complete since August and haven't heard a thing and I'm wondering now that they are booking through November for their last interview days.

It could take a while. UTSW was my last interview (received 9/23) and I submitted my UTSW secondary 4th of July weekend. So, it took almost 3 months in my case.Does UTSW poop on your head if you call asking about your status?

Anyone know when A&M will start sending acceptance offer to OOS? TMDSAS says schools can start sending out offer starting 10/15 to OOS, but A&M website says the first offer are sent out 11/15. Anyone know anything about this? thanks!
Your numbers are fine (esp. for your major.) 29 is about the average MCAT for TX schools, and I personally met people at my interviews that had as low as a 26 MCAT. The lateness is the biggest problem with your app. since interviews are about half over (Aug. - Jan.) but I think that you can still get a few, assuming the other parts of your application are good (ECs, Personal Statement, etc)TMSDAS is telling me 3-4 wks for processing...I submitted my app to them on 10/11...my secondaries I turned in yday...I'm a little worried I don't have much of a chance b/c of how late I'm into the process...my scores are only decent (PS 11, V 9, BS 9 --> 29) and 3.74 overall gpa in Elec. Engr'ing...also, all my lower div. prereqs are from AP courses and upper divs. are from comm. college (had to take fast track courses to take up a job)...I'm taking biochem and genetics right now at UT-Austin so hopefully that will vouch for me being able to handle the upper div. courses. I know there are a lot of other things that matter on the app, but purely based on numbers, my major, and how late I'm applying, do I have a decent shot at an interview? Thanks.

I know at least one other person did this without a problem, but I just wanted to get a consensus from those who might know. I'm interviewing at UTSW this Saturday but have not turned in my secondary yet due to a suicidal jumpdrive and way too many commitments. Do you think they really want that bad boy in before the interview so they can review me holistically? Or can I actually sleep this week? 😴

"How" is a good question that I have, as well. The TMDSAS site, when talking about declining pre-match offers, etc says something like "....all of this will be managed online" so I wonder if that's how they will be made? For us instaters, does anyone know from their interview how and when the different schools will make prematch offers? I know it opens on Nov 15, but as we've seen w/ Oct 15, open doesn't mean GO
I just learned that a good friend of mine (who is OOS) got accepted to UT-Houston yesterday! I am very excited for him!
I called UTSW to check on my status. They said I was complete and that if I was selected for interview, I'd be emailed.I don't see how it would hurt to ask. it would seem to me that it shows interest on your part. In late August I sent an e-mail to A&M asking about my chances for getting an interview and the reply stated they had no way of telling me, but, three days later I got an interview. Coincidence? I don't know.
I've been complete at UTSW since 7/29 with no word. I called to check on my status and got transferred, then hung up on. I guess they're too cool for school. 👎
I don't agree. Mostly, because I don't see how the pre-match offers actually benefit the schools. I think most people wait until all their offers are in to make a decision anyway. They were instituted because UTSW thought that Baylor was "stealing" applicants away from them with early offers, but there's really no way of knowing how much of a factor the earliness of the offer was in those applicants' decision. People will STILL rank their first-choice higher than any pre-match offers that they received (assuming that they didn't receive a pre-match offer from their first choice) because THERE IS NOTHING TO LOSE. So, there is really no need for the schools to compete in terms of earliness of offers. I know that there was some debate about this, but financial aid packages CAN'T be ready until after the FAFSA is filed, the earliest date of which is Jan. 2. (after the rolling admissions period has closed.) Few people are going to make a final decision without a financial aid package. JMHO.I don't know Jota, it seems to me that if one school offers a lot of pre-match acceptances, then all the schools will have too. I posted earlier that Filo told my interview group that the schools would get together and discuss how they were going to do it. Maybe if someone that has heard anything recently at an interview wants to post that information we could get a better idea.
