I know of at least one OOS applicant (a good friend of mine) that was offered acceptance to UT-H on the 15th. I'm sure there were more, though maybe not many.

I am an OOS student who interviewed at UTMB on 13th. Has anybody heard back from them yet? have any idea of when they ll send out acceptances/rejections for OOS applicants?

They may have sent some out to non-SDNers.
 
what are my chances for instate schools...4.0 but got beaten by mcat -

I haven't heard from any of the TX schools, but I noticed that my school's self-reporting acceptance list shows that someone from my school received an acceptance from UT Southwestern last week. I wish I knew more about how he was notified, but unfortunately I'm still in the dark.

What email address are you guys sending email queries to? A specific person or is there some general admissions email address (specifically UTMB and UT Houston)? Thanks

Normally, I would agree with you about this, but I am in a unique situation. Cosmic forces have intervened and have recently made me very busy: All of the sudden, I have lots to do at work, and, oh yeah, let's not forget that the due date for our second child to be born is next week (but she will likely come earlier,) and our house will be swarming with Grandparents and other well-wishers. Since I am done with interviews (unless hell freezes over and I get invited by UT-H,) I'm, honestly, not thinking about Med. School that much, except when I read SDN, to which I am obviously addicted.
 
I envy you guys in Texas, you have so many med schools and they are so reasonably priced. We in Florida do not have enough med schools as a result some of us with awesome stats do not make it to State med schools, for some it is easier to secure admission out of State.

I am thinking of applying to Texas and Kazikistan, if I cant get in a reasonable Florida school.
 
I've heard A&M generally has the hardest interviews in Texas. Anyone care to comment on that and their experience?
 
Might be hard considering the fact that halfway through the day, you have to drive nearly 2 hours to a different campus where they hold your second interview. That alone is frustrating.

It all depends on who you have. At A&M, I had one lady from the administration dept interview me. It didn't go so well. The second lady who was an MD was much nicer and we totally hit it off. Like I said, it all depends on the interviewer. That and if you're very hot, it helps too.

Hi,
I recieved an interview invite from UT Southwestern. But i haven't submitted my secondary yet... and the deadline was 10/15.
should i file the secondary now and attend the interview?
The thing is i am out of state and would have to fly LONG distance for the interview. and if they are going to realize later that i filed my secondary late and discredit me... i would rather decline the interview now and save the trip.
what do you guys think? any opinion/ advice/ anything... would be great.

You've been advised this before, but I'll do it again. Call them. There is no other way to be certain.
 
Did anyone get an email from UT Houston? It told me to send them a digital passport style picture of myself. I sent in my pictures with my secondaries, so I guess I never did because of UT-Houston's not requiring a secondary.

Anyways, so I'm sending it but it got me thinking... Why all of a sudden (months after my interview) do they need a picture of me? Is it because Nov 15th is coming up and they like me?!?!?

They asked everybody that before the interview. Ostensibly for "security purposes"

Didn't we submitted one pic for TMDSAS plus one each for all the schools we applied to??? And one when invited to interview?

I probably had the same lady...she grilled me about everything; the hardest interviewer by far. The second interview went extremely well and I left with a good feeling in general about my performance.

All I can say is that folks at A&M read your application up and down. My app, which was sitting in front of me during the interview, was full of highlighting and prompts for questions. Like every other time you prepare for interviews, go over everything and always be honest.
 
I checked my TCOM status page and they invited me for an interview. However, they haven't contacted me yet. Should I call them or wait???? I am an August Mcater and this is my first interview so I am really anxious.

Relax!!! They should be contacting you soon. The admissions staff are very nice and helpful, so if you are still very anxious, you can call them and ask. Congrats!
 
You'll probably get a call from them today. They called me around 8 at night.
 
Thanks for the advice you guys. I will wait patiently for their call! I was praying it wasn't a computer glitch or something.
 
I don't know if this applies to anyone here, but San Antonio came to speak at my undergrad yesterday, and Dr. Jones said that they won't even open the file for anyone who clicked submit on October 15th. He said it was approximately 500 applications.

Just to give everyone a heads-up.

Did he say anything about how many rolling admission offers would be made?

What email do we contact UTMB and UT-H at for this stuff?
 
i got an acceptance at tcom last friday...they have this form to send in if you plan on going, but theres no deposit or check required. do people just send this in even if they are waiting to here back from other schools?

does anyone know if sending this in compromises anything else at the other tx schools?
 
Wow congrats. I guess that means you are from out of state. Where are you from?

Not the hardest interview, but definitely the most draining and longest interview day. I'm pretty sure it was like a 7am to 5/6pm affair...not including the 1-1.5 hour driving through small town texas from College Station to Temple.

Not the greatest way to show off a school, but they really have no other way of doing so. Be forewarned.

yeah my experience last year exactly, though I came off really liking the school. I remember the Temple tour bus coming late though, so we missed out on a lot of what the school had to offer in that town.

i personally didnt like having to pay for parking, but my overall impression of them is still great

I hope so, I'll feel bad if they only give it to the superhuman applicants and the rest of us have to wait till match.
 
Probably a little early for this but does anyone know if we'll get an email midnight Nov 14th or have to wait for snail mail?
