Ugh. You just reminded me that my birthday was last week, and I needed to update my MDApps profile. So, now I'm even older.

If I end up with another acceptance because of this whole LMFU thing, rest assured that it is getting thrown right back, unless it is from UTSA. Then, that will make things interesting.

Obviously more spots will open up because a lot of people "accepted" several schools. Although, I have to say that hearing this makes me pretty upset...sigh.

At UTSW, I guess they feel that by avoiding the match, it allows you to hold on to multiple acceptances, thus giving you more time to decide where you want to go. I think it's crap, too.

I'm really humbled because I didn't think SW would be this tough to get into.
 
Got my first letter of rejection (UTMB) today. Possibly the first of four such letters. Looks like I will see ya'll in 2008 and make the sullen transition over to the reapplicant board. Congrats to all who have gotten interviewed and accepted.

Damn! I didn't know they are sending out rejections this early in the overall scheme of things. I thought we had till after the official match in Feb. Sorry to hear about your bad news.

okay you guys hang in there i am holding 6 spots at the medical schools right now i think i have an idea where i will be attending medical school so do alot of my buddies who have 5 or more acceptances so keep your heads up i will start declining offers in the next week or so just like alot of my other buddies Good Luck

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe PT2MD didn't receive an interview to UTMB? So basically if you haven't interviewed there, then they are sending out rejections...there's still the match for those of us who interviewed, no worries.

I think you must be correct. I received a similar rejection letter from UTMB yesterday. I didn't interview with them (and submitted ages ago) so certainly wasn't expecting to get in there, but it sucked to see it explicitly stated. "no longer considering your application." blech.

My fellow Longhorn is right (Class of 94 here). I did not mention that I did not interview. I figure if I haven't been interviewed or contacted at this point, I'd better start preparing for April's MCAT. Again good luck to you all.

ha yeah right, i got no texas love - i'm probably going to withdraw in a bit, hopefully that opens up some spots in the match for someone

cornell isn't til march (although they give a few acceptances right before xmas), I have some stiff competition there

hopefully nyu will show some love come mid december 😀

what are you up to now, are you in the lbk or in amarillo

I am in Amarillo taking a Biochem class up here at WT. That drive became too expensive with the price of diesel what it is and all. I am glad I took my pre-req's at Tech though because the professors here SUCK.


I predict more good news coming your way.👍

That's my plan as well (I have a 12/04 LFMU, in case that matters for anything).

Whether or not I get into UTSA pre-match, I still have to decide which to rank first in the match... I have no idea how I'll rack-and-stack them, both fantastic but significantly different.

Dec 20 is their last date, they are also interviewing on the 13th, the admissions office lady said they are sending invites daily

I called them again today to figure out if they had an updated date to send out invites. This lady said they usually send out invites 2 weeks prior and the last interview date is Jan 6th. She seemed to have a little more concrete dates than the last lady I spoke to. Just passing along the message...
 
Supposedly SA may be handing out more acceptances so just be patient and i hope to see yall in the entering class of 2011

i just got a UTHouston acceptance by email as well! it seems that schools are still making prematch offers, so don't lose hope!

i got an email from UTH too, but it wasnt an acceptance letter.. lol. it was just an update because everyone keeps calling and emailing them with questions. dangit, i was almost about to scream with joy too..

I guess this means that those of us who received this email will NOT get pre-match acceptances. Damn!
 
same boat, Houston e-mail saying I'll have to wait to be turned down. Has San Antonio been sending many pre-match acceptances?

The email did not mean that at all. My girlfriend who received a pre-offer from houston received the same email. I am pretty sure it was a mass email sent to everyone who interviewed there.

The email should give everyone hope. I interviewed at houston two days ago and Dr. Kelleway said that houston is treating it as a match year whatever that means. So I am guessing that houston will still have some seats open come match time. I hope alot of seats!!!!!

I really don't want to wait for the match. At least move the dam thing closer to the first of the year.

FWIW - Galveston is trying to fill the majority of their class during the rolling admissions period so if the number of acceptances is proportional to what is on the "TMDSAS acceptance thread" then there aren't that many seats left. I expect around 1/2-1/3 left for the match.

I completely agree. I kind of think it would be better to go back to the old system that way you only have one day to worry about instead of almost three months to worry about offers and the match. I would rather match at one school and be done with it even if i didn't get my first choice. least the anxiety about it all wouldn't be so bad.

About the whole how many seats will be left, it is so up in the air because galveston says that the currently have more acceptances then they have seats and they are trying to fill their class, but soooo many people are holding on the multiple offers until the last minute. so in reality the schools have absolutely no idea how much of their class they have filled.
 
I dont even think the schools quite know what's going on with this new system. Seems like some of the schools have flip flopped multiple times on their pre-match and match policies. Too bad this application year has to be their guinea pigs.
 
not to mention the Last Paper MCATS!!! you know, from here on out everyone applying to med school has it EASY, a new computer-based MCAT, a well-seasoned match system. god, from now on EVERYONE will be able to get into med school. this was clearly the hardest POSSIBLE time to get into MED SCHOOL. NOBODY KNOWS WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN!!!! AAAAAAAAAA!!!! I CAN'T TAKE IT!!!! I NEEEEEEED TO GO TO MEDICAL SCHOOL!!!! MED SCHOOL IS LIKE HEAVEN--EVERYTHING ELSE IS LIKE HELL!!!! CAN I JUST TRADE IN FIVE YEARS OF MY LIFE TO KNOW WHAT A CHANGE IN MY LMFU MEANS? ? ? ? TEN YEARS TO KNOW IF I GET ACCEPTED? ? ? 25 YEARS FOR IMMEDIATE ACCEPTANCE? ? ?

if i don't make it i feel like i'm going to disappear. yesterday i watched myself in the mirror to make sure i wasn't actually fading away with the minutes like in back to the future. for halloween i dressed as my greatest nightmare--a giant LMFU reading 10/02/06--but nobody got the joke. i feel compelled to read sdn every half-hour, and recently i cancelled a trip because i would have had to be away from the internet for spaces lasting as long as 3 hours. if i had a family it wouldn't recognize me--haggard, wandering in a constant haze, barely able to order a muffin each morning on my way from and to my computer to check my e-mail, then sdn, then my lmfu. oh come, my sweetest acceptance e-mail--come to me...leap into my arms...let me devour you...

I received a pre-match offer on the 15th and received the same email. It doesn't mean anything.

FWIW - SA sent an email explaining that the plan was to fill about 50% pre-match acceptances. That is being done mainly in honor of fairness so that those currently (or recently) intervewing don't feel like they are interviewing for nothing. SA seems to be very "calm and controlled" during this whole chaotic time - but that's just my somewhat biased opinion. 🙂 Point is - SA will probably keep sending out acceptances throughout the pre-match process as they get "decline" notices sent back. They don't plan on filling more than half the class until match. So hang in there!! Good luck! :luck: :luck:
