I got emails acknowledging receipt of my secondary app. fee, as well as receipt of my LORs. That's it. I met one re-applicant on my interview day.

I have a friend coming down next week to interview at A&M, but I can't speak for her. Sorry. Anyone going this Thursday??

And what is with them not driving us to Temple. That'd impress me a lot more than having to spend more money on gas and putting miles on my car...not to whine, but seriously...

i hope i'm not repeating a previously asked question, but how long were y'all processed by TMDSAS before you received interviews? i was processed 8/24 and i'm getting really antsy.

I received my 1st interview 2 1/2 weeks after I was verified. The last one I received was 7 1/2 weeks after I was verified. Don't worry, it's still so early. And it sort of depends when you get verified compared to when the schools send out invites. I think some of them only send out invites twice a month or so. So don't fret, the interviews are coming!:luck:

Just got an interview from A&M. I'm happy except for the fact that I'll have to drive to temple. I can't believe they don't provide transportation. That is just ridiculous. Anyways, does anyone have an interview at A&M next thursday and want to car pool to temple? Whoever drives wouldn't have to chip in for gas.

When I had my interview, there was a guy who needed a ride. Someone gave him a ride and Filo/someone from the admissions office staff gave him a ride back to College Station. I don't think he set anything up in advance, but you might check with the admissions office just to make sure.

I'd definitely be willing to drive you to Temple if you can get a ride back with someone.

are any of you all sending a letter of intent to a school following an interview at your top choice? i'm thinking of sending one, but dont know if i should wait till november.😕

I would do it now, by November they will have their decisions made. Which school are you interested in? I was thinking about sending an LOI to UTMB, but I would still like to go to Univ of Washington if the opportunity comes up, so I'd feel like I was lying if I sent UTMB a letter saying I would definitely attend.

I never really considered a LOI. Who do you address this to? Your interviewers? The admissions office? The admission committee? How long should it be? It seems kind of pointless, because all of the schools (at least in Texas) including Baylor make their decision about you that day, or by the end of the week. Do you think they really go back and re-rate you?

Right, as was said in another current thread, LOI's seem more pertinent later in the cycle when you are facing and/or are already on a waitlist. "Chill" is the operative word right now (although I, too, am having a real hard time chilling when my fate has already essentially been determined, but I may not know what it is for another 5 months.)

as posted in the other LOI thread by pkboi, to my knowledge, the TX med schools do not accept anything from applicants that doesn't come through TMDSAS. that and a LOI will help you if you're waitlisted or on the edge, and even then, the effect has been debated. i'd just hold off on sending one just yet, maybe call the school and ask them about the LOI straight up and if it helps.

hahaha well, it's been just about 2.5 wks since i was processed. thanks for the reply; i hope the interviews start coming soon! good thing i have a whole series of tests coming up to occupy my time.

I can't check my status on Tech's website - anyone else?

I can. Try again, sometimes it acts weird.

Great - Thanks! Looks like attempt number 7 was the lucky one.

Question for everyone now - how long does it take from when TMDSAS receives your rec letters to when the medical schools receive your rec letters?

Most of my schools received in a couple of weeks but it took Tech almost a month...just a heads up for you.

can't believe I have to give up my first Texas interview =(

My UTSW status page shows that they recieved my LORs the same day TMDSAS recieved my LORs so I think TMDSAS transmits letters to UTSW electronically. It took 2 weeks for my Tech status page to show that they received my letters.

I'm not sure about Houston, San Antonio, Galveston, and A&M though since they don't have an online status page. Anyone know of any online status page where we can check our status for those school or is emailing or calling the schools the only way to know...?

hey jillibean, thanks for replying. i cant see how a letter of intent/interest would hurt in any way. i've been trying to search the forums but cant seem to find too much info. anyway good luck with UW.🙂

Baylor - dude. Just reject me already - this limbo thing is annoying. 😡

Just kidding - I 😍 you, Baylor!

Does your status say you've been reviewed by the committee and they will let you know something as soon as they are able? Is there a significant lag from this message before they let you know?

What's up with those TMC-affiliated schools and making us wait? I really would like to hear something from UT-H, but hell will probably freeze over before that happens.

Yes, there is. It was only a few weeks to a month before I got my invite, but I'm sure it could be significantly longer now, because there are many more apps.

Do you get the feeling UT-H doesn't really like us engineers?

thats what i had heard about ut houston.

but i had one a two weeks ago i think and then one of my other engr friends had it a while ago.

its all so random bc tech and utmb just got to me about invites

Something like that. Grr. I think it's taken at least a couple of weeks for Baylor to get back to people. Doesn't make it easier that everytime I mention Baylor my pre-med advisor goes, "that's odd that they haven't gotten back to you." Yeah thanks 🙁 Paranoid enough

😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡

TAMUHSC & UTHSCSA:scared: 😡 😡 😡

carry on.

I feel your pain. I am having a hard time trying to decided between the two. Which one would I put on top of the other, I do not know.

  For me that would have looked like UTH & Tech (My only interviews thus far)😡 😡

I am wanting an interview at TAMU and SA. SA really perplexes me because of the supposed non-trad love. I am glad to hear that you are having such a hard time deciding as that probably speaks well for both schools.

Good luck!

I know this might sound sort of odd, but did anyone reply to Dean Kellaway's post-interview letter from UT-H? Maybe saying thanks for the invite, I really enjoyed it and am very interested? It wouldn't be a letter of intent by any means, but a response letter would allow us to emphasize our interest in the school. I know that the letter probably goes out to everyone who interviews, so do you think this would be overkill and unnecessary?

I sent a "Thank you" note but not specifically in reply to that letter.

I cannot stress just how awesome UT-San Antonio was. Too bad it's in San Antonio 🙁

I think Houston is my top so far.
So what's the verdict? Was the social at the flying saucer the night before worthwhile, or did you get everything you needed from students on the interview day?

Also, what don't you like about San Antonio? You like Houston better than San Antonio? 👎 👎

I just got my TCOM interview invite yesterday. Finally, one interview! For those of you who applied there, how long you received your TCOM invite did you receive your other TX invites? I know TCOM is always the first to invite, which is why I presume it was first for y'all as well.

whoa, this is awesome! good luck with your interview.

Congradulations chaeymaey, I hope it's the first of many more.

Aww, I love you guys! You're so supportive. I do hope that this is a lucky year for me. I have been working really hard here at the SMP, and I really want it to pay off.

Texas Tech!!!! 😍 I just got invited today.

Flying Saucer was a blast, I thought. I stayed til most of the other interviewees had left. I really liked the students there. I'm sold on Houston for more personal reasons (support network already set up, etc). But don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be torn up if I end up at San Antonio. That's a great school!
