Hey guys,

I just got an email from UTMB answering some questions of mine, and they said they sent out ALL of their pre-match acceptances the first 2 days, and if you havent heard by now then you will be waiting till the match....idk if this is true for all the schools or just UTMB. So if you are sitting there with no love yet like me, might be a long wait 🙁 🙁 🙁

Wow, seriously? Hopefully that's not the case for UTSW, still waiting to hear from them.

Hey I got offered one from Houston and one from Galveston. (No mail received yet) I know that it is NOT need based because I show no need. I don't know why they would offer money yet....it seems early.

I missed mine being delivered on Saturday. I wasn't there to sign it, so I've had to wait a while for it to be redelivered.

I'm anxious, because whats in that UTH letter could decide for me where I go... or it may not matter at all...

Don't worry, I'm in the same boat as you. Even if UTMB doesn't give out any more prematch offers, there's still A LOT of people with offers to more than one place and I seriously doubt they sent out enough to fill their class. We'll just have to tough it out until February...hang in there!!!!

Hey does anyone know what type of curriculum utsa uses b/c all we hear about is UTMB and UTSW also what about A&M and Baylor

UTSA is a traditional curriculum, but organ-based, IIRC (?)

A&M is a traditional curriculum with some PBL thrown in.

Baylor is a very non-traditional curriculum. Students are only in class 1/2 day most days, basic sciences last only 1.5 years, and a passing board score is not required to begin clinical rotations. Curriculum is organ based and contains a bit of PBL.

Tech follows a "one course at a time" curriculum, but other than that seems pretty traditional with not much PBL.

I just got an interview invite for tech. I'm happy but there's only two dates to choose from and their both next week!! crap. I have tons of stuff scheduled at work and I'm out of town for the second one.

The UTSW deadline is Dec. 7, so you should be fine. They also allow you to FAX back the acceptance form. I think they just want it in writing.

With all the changes in every school's intended "last interview" dates, does anyone have a latest list of last interview dates for each school? It will keep folks like me who took the August MCAT with some hope of getting a few more interviews. Thanks a bunch in advance!

I see we all struggle with understanding fully this whole pre match thing. I have a question and hopefully ill get an answer pretty quick..i just got my letter from UTMB and should sent out the acceptance form hopefully today.. so far, from other replies, i uderstood that this doesnt mean that I am obligated to go to this school, but rather will consider attending..so for the TMDSAS, if i dont get other acceptances, it would be clear that this wil be my 1st choice. SHould i wait to put my preferences in the TMDSAS application though untill the deadline? if i already put UTMB, is this my final decision, or i can go back and forth and change it in case i get other accpetances...and one more thing. how about acceptances from other schools outside the tmdsas system..can we hold multiple acceptances from other school, but just one for the texas schools by jan15/dec 31st???is the tmdsas totally excluded from the rest of the nation so they dont care if you hold other spots at other schools, as long as you hold only one here??? does jan15 selection make you obligated to attend that particular school? obviously im little confused..but most importantly, i needed to know whether i can go ahead and send in the form to UTMB to hold a spot, but have no obligations whatsoever in case other acceptance pops out...thx

Yes...you should go ahead and send off your acceptance letter. You can wait until closer to the deadline to submit your match. You may get an interview anytime from now until sometime in January. If you do not receive an interview after January, I think all schools will have stopped interviewing and you will know for sure that UTMB is your only choice.

Yeah, so I had an interview at San Antonio. I liked the students but the facilities didn't seem to be very nice. I really don't give a $hit about the aesthetics of the facilities but I need something to dog on the school about. I have liked every school I have interviewed at, a lot. Loved the peripheral location of the campus and correlating cheap housing, lighter traffic, etc. I love the access to Mexico and I-10 to the desert seems easy enough as I am a desert rat, big toofs and all. The faculty I interviewed with there were the coolest faculty I have met to date.

For me, it is "where do I want to live for 4-8 years."

And I would think that they would like to fill the class through early offers and use the match to ensure that the yield is where it should be. For those of you who recieved an offer here I can tell you that it is definitely a great program and you are going to get alot out of it if you take advantage of their offer. Also the aid here is alot better than elsewhere in TX and much more attractive than out of state packages. I'm sure they fill you in on the details though.

Bah I wasn't even thinking about that before but now I will puff out my chest about my baby thread. Only took 10 min to do. And yes I do have a good deal of time because I've moved from RTPCR/RevTranscPCR to Westerns and I'm waiting 1.5 hrs at a time for blocking, or Ab washes.

I'm guessing maybe a little over half will take the UTSW offer, with some choosing to attend another school. UTSW will likely overaccept to compensate, so later interviewees still have a good chance of getting in.

I got into Texas Tech last week and I am planning to go there, so I am excited to meet all my potential classmates!

I wouldn't worry yet because the yield is not 100% and we have 235 in our class. Its still very early and you should certainly keep the admissions offices here and elsewhere apprised of new grades and stuff. Good-luck, I know that the waiting sucks.

They only have a few interview dates left 2-3 so hopefully offers will be truly rolling and I think that if they want to fill the class this way they would do so but your cutoff date and then match the rest.

I think the initial rolling admissions for UTSW was for people who interviewed before 11/15, so that includes you.

No, it just means that you will hopefully hear with their next round of offers. I am not too sure how much a letter of intent helps but if you know for sure that you want to come here it certainly isn't going to hurt.

Actually, the 2005 test takers (class of 2007) passing percentage was 92% versus the national passing percentage of 93%. Their mean score was 219 vs. the national mean score of 217. Scores went up because many students took a course taught by a UTMB graduate (the same class taught at UTMB). I would not worry.
