I talked to a lady in the admissions office at UTSW and she said that there would be two more rounds of pre-match admissions. Hope this puts some of you guys at ease. I know I'm still hoping that Southwestern sends me a letter!


Would writing a letter to someone at UTSW really help? I'm fairly skeptical on stuff like that.

Ha, we've all been there. 😉 It stands for Last Master File Update. You can find it on your Applicant Profile page in your status page of TMDSAS.

Is UTSW the only school you're still waiting on? I got accepted everywhere else I applied. The whole thing has been humbling. I have scores above the averages at UTSW, and my extracurriculars were really good. Oh well, I'll just keep hoping that it all works out for the best.

Mine didn't change. How saddening, except I have no real concrete reason to be sad (or that we know of), I suppose then I'm jumping on the bandwagon, which actually makes me a forum noob, which makes me even sadder.

Tceh sucks, kick it to the curb asap. It is going to be in the teens tonight with a 20-30 mph wind.....think of it like old man winter is coming after you with an ice chain-saw everytime you step outside. The two trees on the plains of West Texas have already lost their leaves so there is really no cover to speak of outside of the occasional cotton gin dotting the barren, wind-burned landscape. Run and run fast but be sure to promptly decline your acceptance as well .

All kidding aside, kick the ones you are for sure not interested in to the curb and be neurotic over the others. I can see where you are coming from though, it is sort of like reaping what you sew. You have worked hard and you want to bask in the radiance of all those acceptances, if only for a couple of months. I/some others here just want a little candle, akin to the one that pretended to hold in Sunday school while singing "This little light of mine, I'm a gonna let it shine......Ain't gonna let the devil "pffff" it out, "pfff" it out....I'm a gonna let it shine.....<trails off singing>

The LMFU chances could be happening because all of you have been sending in your signed acceptances to each respected school. So each school could be notifying TMDSAS that you have officially accepted their acceptance. What are other people's thoughts??

I thought that too but then I figured that the first LMFU change told TMDSAS that we were accepted, and they would only notify TMDSAS again if we rejected the prematch acceptance.

I hope your right because my LMFU changed too. However, it changed on the exact same day that I turned in my signed acceptance to one of the medical schools. So I figured that the change was due to that; however, like I said, I hope you are right about more acceptances coming this way.

Just checked my TCOM status page (sent the withdraw notice about a week ago) to see if I needed to do anything more... It is pretty sad to see "Application withdrawn" on the status page. What is even stranger is that underneath all the normal stuff it says that I was accepted 7/10/06 (interview was 7/27th ish) and that I "accepted" this acceptance and planned to enroll... I hadn't even heard from them by that date.. ???

Whoa mine changed to 11/29. Weird. Mine hadn't changed since 9/18. So far i've only been accepted at TCOM. Waiting on UTSA and TAMU. But since i've gotten nothing from them yet, I'm gonna assume it changed because I sent in my acceptance at TCOM or something. oh well.

She seemed reluctant to tell me any exact dates. If you find out anything else or want to call, let me know. You would think that they would give out another round after the first batch of people send in their acceptances/withdrawls. When is the decision due at UTSW?

When i moved to baltimore, I see it every winter, usually by the end of November. Played in like 2-3 blizzards since I came here. For some reason we haven't seen snow up here yet and it's december... damn global warming

Yeah, I'm only waiting on UTSW and mine hasn't changed from 11/17/06 (Granted I also might not be getting in). I bet the LMFU change is a response to offer rejections.

We're supposed to get a foot of snow here in Lawrence, KS. They won't cancel school, though. The only day I've ever seen KU cancel class was when a tornado ripped through campus and destroyed some buildings- they closed for 1/2 a day.

You probably know this; it isn't really the snow/ice that causes the cancellations down here, but rather the Texans on ice. We are more dangerous than most natural weather phenomena, especially those living south of 20.

I've heard of some of them. Its composed of a variety of faculty and has a head... but why not just address your updates etc. to the admissions office or the director?

I interviewed at UTSW on 11/18 and my LMFU date is 11/28/06. I really don't think it relates to UTSW.

FYI: UTSW adcom meets on Thursdays following the Saturday interviews. Given that today is Thursday, I am pretty sure they are still trying to catch up 11/11 and 11/18 dates due to Thanksgiving.

Are any of the Texas schools considered lower-tier?

I know one guy that considers everyplace he hasn't gotten in, to be lower tier. Then there are others who consider all the schools that haven't accepted them to be upper-tier. Ofcourse there are people who look at research dollars, nobel prize winners, popularity with residency directors, length of white coats, etc etc.

Of the allopathic schools, I would say Tech is probably lower tier. (For those who are wondering, I didn't apply there.)

So I think I got one of the last invites to Tech today...but it's for less than a week away! And honestly, I just don't know if I could be happy there...it's so far away from my family. It just seems so wrong to turn down an interview.... 😕 Any thoughts?
