FWIW - SA sent an email explaining that the plan was to fill about 50% pre-match acceptances. That is being done mainly in honor of fairness so that those currently (or recently) intervewing don't feel like they are interviewing for nothing. SA seems to be very "calm and controlled" during this whole chaotic time - but that's just my somewhat biased opinion. 🙂 Point is - SA will probably keep sending out acceptances throughout the pre-match process as they get "decline" notices sent back. They don't plan on filling more than half the class until match. So hang in there!! Good luck! :luck: :luck:

When did you get that email?? I don't think I ever got one. Hopefully my application isn't lost in the numbers....

I got that email aswell. They sent it only to folks currently holding an acceptance.

Odd...I hold an acceptance, yet I did not receive this email.

did you apply to UT-H? the email I received was from UT-H

I think the people who received it were those who INTERVIEWED at UT-H

- I see that wannadoc didn't interview there, yet those who did received the email

LMFU - 12/1

UTMB rejection today......damn I was hoping for San Antonio acceptance......🙁

I had an interview with UT-H on December 1st. How long do ya'll think it takes to be screened and reviewed by the admissions committee?

Also, I only had one interview so far... I'll probably be re-applying next year. When should I submit my application? I figure, if I send it in May, it may be a huge waste of time and money if I get accepted later on in the summer due to rolling admissions. What do you guys think?

Is anyone going to the american society for cell biology meeting in san diego this week?

I am in San Dieogo for the cell biology meeting now.

Really!? Cool, are you presenting a poster on Monday? Let me know, maybe we can meet up. What's your research in?

Hey Adam,

I was in the same boat as you last year. I interviewed only at UTH in November. I was eventually waitlisted and spent the rest of the time praying to get off the waitlist. I went ahead and sent in my application for this year in May, and I currently have 7 interviews and 3 acceptances. I would definately recommend submitting your app in May, but you must show improvement in your app as a reapplicant. I hope this helps!

I was hoping for a nice letter from SA for you, too!!! I'm so sorry, 'Rambler! Hang in there.....

A rejection!?! I'm sorry, Rambler. That sucks.

Thanks y'all. I knew this was going to be a hard road when I made the switch a couple of years back. I was hoping they would give me a little more credit for overcoming adversity but life ain't always fair:laugh:. I worked in sales for most of my college career and I am generally accepted as a pretty down to earth guy but I guess I didn't do a very good job of setting myself apart in the interviews. I will try to learn from this. I know...there is still the match but I am not that confident about this year. I figure there will be some 250/580 spots left available from the schools I interviewed with so in my way of seeing it my chances, which weren't good to begin with, have been cut in half. Way below average GPA 3.1 (even after 60 hour post bacc with 3.94), below average MCAT b/c of a lack of discipline in VR and no research, it ain't looking so good. I am a realist (this one sometimes hurts) and I accept responsibility for my shortfalls and I don't believe in making excuses. But,but but but........I know, it ain't over yet.......we'll see.👍 I am happy with my life outside of this little struggle so I can't really complain...just wanted to vent a little😳 .

Thanks for reading.

Take care,

Rambler,

Don't give up! We are all rooting for you. Waiting sucks, I know.

Wow, congratulations! You're definitely going to be a doctor. You must be ecstatic. What did you do to improve yourself? I don't think I can make any distinguishable improvements. I'm getting a masters degree, I work as a TA, I've done tons of shadowing/research, I've taken the MCAT three times with a 33 final score... What more do they want?! My GPA is a little low (~3.5) but there isn't anything I can do about that now. I just had my head in the clouds the first couple years of college...
Thanks for your advice (you obviously know what medical schools want).

Personally, I would go ahead and send in another app in may (assuming you don't make the match or get a pre-offer this year which we all hope you do! 🙂 ). After all, what's another couple hundred dollars to apply to TMDSAS again in the grand scheme of things. Since you know the app process better now, presenting a good app early on in May will get your more chances to interview at different places and increase your chances.

Thanks! I am very excited! I did not improve my app that much...I worked in a doctor's office, volunteered at a hospital and took some post-bac classes. I think the biggest difference was that I APPLIED EARLY! Good luck for this cycle, it isn't over yet!

Hey man, just take the MCAT over again. I took the thing three times. My second attempt really wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the VR (PS-9, BS-10, VR-7). I enrolled with Kaplan over the summer and retook the August MCAT. I got an 11 on the VR this time. Kaplan really helps! I recommend completing a full VR practice test everyday for a week before the test. That's what I did anyways... Of course, I only got one interview so perhaps my adivce is always great...

Yeah, I didn't apply until late August. But you're right, nothing is over... Nobody needs to be stressed out yet.
Thanks

That stinks, Rambler. And it's tough to figure out why. One school has (thank goodness!) taken me out of 15+ I applied to -- but if it weren't for UTSW, I would still be racking my brains trying to figure out why I suck as an applicant. Did I suck any less at UTSW's interview day? If so I didn't know it. I must have had my lucky underwear on or something.

:luck: :luck: :luck: At least there's still the match. There's still hope. UTMB says they've "filled" their class already... but think about how many duplicate fills there are with other offers from UT-H, etc. Some of them will open up. Don't get down on yourself. Not getting in doesn't mean you didn't deserve to get in. People on SDN get mad when you say this, but my own conclusion from this interview season is: it's a crapshoot. I hope it turns up... uh, what it is that's lucky in craps?... anyway, I hope that's what it turns up for you and the others waiting on the match. :luck: :luck: :luck:

I can only think that I am in the same boat. I am betting that modesty is not the best policy in interviews as we've always been told. While I highly doubt that we are bad interviewees, we probably just did not stand out as immediate accept students. Personally, I think people in our situation likely have an acceptance at one of the institutions and we will find out during the match (hope is not over yet). I refuse to believe that the lack of acceptances is totally due to a bad personality (I've interviewed positively at too many other things to believe this). Anyways I do agree that a backup plan is in order. I've started mine, to the detriment of me possibly making more money in an engineering job (sigh...) but if this is the right path, it will work out for us, whether it's this cycle or the next.

Good luck WTR.

"Ramble on,
And nows the time, the time is now
To sing my song."

your words WTR have inspired me to send in all my rejection letters earlier today to make room for you at one of these medical school keep your head up i will try to urge many of my peers to do the same stay positive #90

Yourmom for example.....has had a tough go of it and he is still trying to achieve his dream......I can't complain, even if I don't get a sniff this year.
lol i can't believe i'm like an SDN celebrity now. i'm not sure if this is because of my avatar or my record, but that's funny.

and westtex, we're all in the same boat. i'm not going to say i've had it tough. there are plenty others out there. may it be struggling with GPA, MCAT, or your own past demons, we're all fighting the uphill battle and are all equally commendable. hell, you're coming from another career; i'm in the same situation sorta. i feel ya.

with that said, i hope we all get in! i'm holding out on TAMU, even though i wouldn't mind going to TCOM. it's just that i won't find out until may, and i love TAMU more. playmaker, i hope you're making room for me at TAMU. haha.

Rambler,

If I were the one interviewing you, I would accept you! If it makes you feel any better I am playing the waiting game🙁

its not over until february 15....that's what i have to keep telling myself.

but in the meanwhile, i'm wondering... aw CRAP do i have to start studying for the MCAT again?!? sigh..

hang in there ppl 😳

I have a feeling there will be a few more prematch acceptances still to come...maybe Christmas???

TCOM said they will send out more pre-matches before christmas.🙂

Celebrities aren't supposed to ask! They just do it and wink as they walk away. Think: what would colin ferrel do?

What would Colin Ferrel do
If he was here right now,
He'd make a plan
And he'd follow through,
That's what Colin Ferrel'd do.

When Colin Ferrel was in the olympics,
Skating for the gold,
He did two Salchows and a triple lutz,
While wearing a blind fold.

When Colin Ferrel was in the alps,
Fighting grizzly bears,
He used his magical fire breath,
And saved the maidens fair.

So what would Colin Ferrel do
If he were here today,
I'm sure he'd kick an ass or two,
That's what Colin Ferrel'd do.

I want this V-chip out of me,
It has stunted my vo-ca-bu-lar-y.

And I just want my mom
To stop fighting everyone

For Wendy I'll be an activist too,
Cause that's what Colin Ferrel'd do.

And what would Colin Ferrel do,
He'd call all the kids in town,
And tell them to unite for true
That's what Colin Ferrel'd do.

When Colin Ferrel travelled through time
To the year 3010,
He fought the evil robot kings
and saved the human race again

And when Colin Ferrel built the pyramids,
He beat up Kublai Kahn.

Cause Colin Ferrel doesn't take **** from an-y-body

So let's all get together,
And unite to stop our mom's
And we'll save Terrance and Phillip too,
Cause that's what Colin Ferrel'd do.

And we'll save Terrance and Phillip too,
Cause that's what Colin Ferrel'd dooooo,
That's what Colin Ferrel'd do.

LMFU = Last Master File Update

If you log on to your TMDSAS status page, and click on Application Status/Received Documents (or something like that), it will show your file and your LMFU.

Basically, we have a theory that it's updated when people get interviews/acceptances, but it's yet to be proven. It's more of a myth.

speaking of which, my Last Master File Update changed to 12/11/06.. hmmm... my previous update was 11/15. i'll tell u guys if i get any acceptances. :luck:

Mine's at 12/11/06 now too. But I'm not a believer.
I feel like the last few posts have been showing a lot of dissappointment from those not yet accepeted. I was still under the impression that most seats have NOT been filled---at least when you think about how most people who got acceptances got multiple acceptances and are holding many seats. I think its WAYYYY too early to start being dissappointed!!

also.... does anyone know if UTSW has sent out their final round of interview invites???

I agree, let's keep the hopes up, people!!

Many people are still holding on to their acceptances (I declined 2 of mine last week 🙂 ), so there is still hope for those who have interviewed.

Not for UTMB. They're one shot wonders. Gave out more acceptances than seats in their first round. gg

I asked this question multiple times and another poster told us it would be late last week, but then he said on Friday that he called in and that they said they are still sending invites. They kept telling him different things so I dunno. I too am still waiting.

You never know. I interviewed after they had sent out their pre-match offers, and the admin said they would have slots open for us pre-match. Looks like that's not gonna happen, but there is no way UTMB is filling its whole class pre-match. From what i gather most texas sdners have a very lowly opinion of the school compared to other UT schools.
