I submitted my updated transcripts a few days ago and my TMDSAS Last RCW update has changed to 12/20. If there's any confusion about the RCW, my guess is that it refers to Records of Course Work... The LMFU probably has more to do with acceptances. I doubt it has anything to do with rejections because my LMFU hasn't changed since 10/14 and I've been rejected from UTMB since then.

I emailed Filo, A&M is done until the match. An acceptance from A&M is all I wanted for christmas. I guess we can keep this thread going for a few more months.

anyone have any thoughts/info on whether it would hurt your chances if you are a TX resident who went out of state for undergrad? i am from north texas and went to Oklahoma (if you couldnt guess), anyone hear of the UT schools being biased against apps like me? i am still technically a resident so i know it shouldn't matter, just curious i guess.

Saw this post a while back and have something to say about it...I was born and raised in Houston, but chose to attend UNC-Chapel Hill for undergrad. Rather than hurting me, I viewed my four years in NC as a positive...and I made sure to convey that in my TMDSAS application. Spending four years away gave me the chance to spread my wings and do a lot of growing up, while also making me certain that I was meant to come back to (and stay in!!!) TX for the rest of my life. I flat out told the people who interviewed me that TX is where I want to attend school and practice medicine.

...so to answer your question: nope. i don't think it matters. i'm sure they are giving you the same consideration as every other texas resident. 🙂
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

any of yall interview at tech in december? If so, have you heard any news yet?

Anybody know if UTSA is sending out any more acceptances?

Anyone got an acceptance from TAMU today? If so, was it by e-mail or snail mail and what was your LMFU?

Anybody know if UTSA is sending out any more acceptances?

My roommate called UTSA yesterday and they said another round of pre-match offers will be sent next week.

Anyone know if there will be more UTH pre-match acceptances??

wow i'm pretty screwed. doesnt seem like the schools will have that many openings for match.

don't say that. depending on how many schools you interviewed at you may have an excellent chance

Hey hey, leave the pessimism at home! We WILL get in thru the match, just remember how many people are holding on to MULTIPLE offers right now! Keep that head up 🙂 I know it's hard...I'm even contemplating taking a hiatus from SDN for the next two months (ha, we'll see about that) 😉

Just trying to be real. I interviewed at 3 schools, and would have said the odds were with me pre-match. I'm not quite sure of the policies now, but it sure does seem alot of pre-match acceptances were thrown around which doesnt bode well for me.

ditto.

any speculation as to how many spots TAMU will have come match day? i guess it all depends on how many ppl accept the offers they've already made...hopefully they haven't made too many...

Here is the response I got (today) to an email sent three weeks ago...

Hi WestTexasRambler,

We have sent out offers on 2 occasions this semester. The first one had about 100 offers, and the second one had about 75. To my knowledge, there have been about 100 people that have confirmed their acceptance with us, but that doesn't mean they haven't also accepted elsewhere and could ultimately end up going somewhere else. Hang in there! I hope you have a Merry Christmas!

My guess would be that they will keep 1/3 of those holding acceptances....so maybe 110 spots or so left for the match.

Good luck to all waiting for Tech.

For the glass-half-full people: I have a Tech offer that I will be declining so that will be one spot for the match. Also, it seems that Baylor has been kind of slow in getting out acceptances (or else we all just suck,) so that is another wildcard in this game. Hang in there all, I'm sorry that not everybody got pre-match acceptances, but I think the match will take care of you!

i'm just hoping that those people with multiple offers will rank A&M lower than the rest of their schools, which seems to be the predominant opinion. i just got my grades in for this last semester and i got 3 As and one A+ (in medical biochem), so that's some news and i hope that updating them with those grades will help me somehow.

this process sucks. i can't imagine why they'd want to reject me at this point.

I have an LMFU of 12/21. I wonder if this LMFU correlates with a UTSA acceptance.😕

Many applicants with multiple offers = tons of spots open for match = many happy SDNers early next year

what's the difference between match and pre match offers? if i expect multiple schools to accept me, but they won't send out any more prematch offers by dec 31st. does it just means that i have to do my research sooner and choose which one i want to go to (just without acceptance letters in hand)?

if you do not have any acceptance letters in hand -- you will most likely not be receiving multiple prematch acceptance offers... most schools are done sending out prematch offers and many of the schools have sent multiple rounds of them so if you dont have it by now, it is looking more and more unlikely that you will not receive one. if you dont have one by the 31st (end of prematch period), you will have to wait for the match on feb 15th. if accepted, you will be matched to one school only (but can remain on waiting lists of higher ranked schools if you dont match to your first choice).

its always good to do research on the schools and find out which one you would be happiest attending so that you can rank them accordingly through TMDSAS. good luck!

Well you can only get 1 match offer. You go on TMDSAS and rank the schools you interviewed at. Then the system will match you up based on rank you gave and the rank schools gave to you. If you match you end up with an acceptance and then waitlisted at any schools you didn't match at.

Hi Anyone went to A&M's Round the wards event? If so, can anyone post your experience?
Cheers!

thanks, lilTXcatMD & shblay... will you be waitlisted at schools you ranked lower? for example, if i match to my 1st choice UTSW, would i get waitlisted at UT-H, Tech, etc? i'm wondering because i'm still not sure where i'd like to go. i'm guessing there's no such thing, since that's the advantage of submitting your apps earlier and getting multiple prematch offers right?

no.. you will be automatically removed from schools that you rank lower than the one you are matched to but you will remain on waitlists on schools you rank higher. so rank very carefully! :luck:

i'm with you on that....i'd rather match than wait another year/two. let the mind games begin

What if we have one acceptance, but it's not the top school you want to go to out of the ones that you interviewed at? Would you rank the top school first and then the one that you have an acceptance in second? How would this work?...I'm confused....😕

If you go to the TMDSAS site it has a flow chart about pre-match and match offeres.

Lets say you get pre-match at school X, but you like school Y.

AFAIK, you can rank school Y higher and if you match there, you drop out of X and enroll at Y. But if Z is ranked lower than all, you keep your (higher) pre-match offer.

i tHINK that's it, but double check to be sure!

I noticed one person received an invite for UT-H's Jan. 5th interview. Has anyone else received an invite? I'm sitting on a UTSA offer but REALLY want UT-H. Supposedly this is their last interview date before match.

Just rank all the schools in the order that you would prefer to go to!!

But,but but but........I know, it ain't over yet.......

Rambler,
It definitely isn't over yet. Take it from a 4th time applicant who finally got accepted. Keep pursuing your dream and do anything you can to improve. I ended up getting married, having a son and pursued a Master's degree (maintained a 4.0 while working and attending schoolfull-time). My MCATs were not stellar although I took it several times. But you know what, PERSISTENCE, PASSION, MOTIVATION may not be obvious requirements but ADCOMs condsider these characteristics. All I can say is that it will happen. If not now, eventually; that's if medicine is your passion.

Don't give up hope, my friend.

I don't think this is necessarily true. I also thought the schools were done sending out acceptances but I just recieved an acceptance offer from TCOM this morning. You have until December 31st. Anything can happen with this year's rolling admissions. Now, I don't think anything is impossible.

ya I was just saying it was unlikely.. especially since most offices will be off or reduced for the holidays. and from the news we have been hearing, many of the schools said they are done until the match... but i agree that anything can happen :luck:

But what if I have an acceptance at school X, and I want to go to school Y more. If I rank school Y higher and I DON'T match with school Y, can I ever lose my acceptance to school X?

no, you will not. please read tmdsas's website. it mentions this at least 5 different places.

bump...

Friend told me that UTSW's invites are still being sent out (sounds like decisions have been made, but not mailed)...?

just got an invite to interview at baylor!!!!

e-mail, phone?

when where you complete? (& stats, if you don't mind 😉 )

By e-mail. Submitted AMCAS on Nov 1st, secondary on Dec 1st. 34R April MCAT, 3.85 overall GPA, 1 semester volunteering, researched one summer & one semester, lead a student org & a bunch of random ECs not really worth mentioning.
