Does it show your new score on TMDSAS? I got my retake score form aamc on 8/23, tmdsas got it on 8/24, then schools received it on 8/29. I would call tmdsas, and then call individual schools to confirm they have the new MCAT score...just a suggestion.

yes, my new score shows up on my aplicant profile page. it's just that on my status of documents page it says that my aug mcat score was received 8/28, which i thought was weird.
like you -- i got my score on a thursday, my t-score update was the next day (fri), and my lmfu was on the following wed (9/19). how do you know that the schools received your scores on the wed of 8/29? did you call them all or did you just assume they received them then 'cause of your lmfu date?

I called them. I was told by my advisor that last year there was a problem with score transfer, so it's best to call each school.

Did I remember correctly that you just emailed around to see who had openings? How did you decide who to contact and what did you say in your email? Are you going to be an employee of UTH or is it contract work? I'm looking for a research job at UTH, MD Anderson, or UTMB and have just started applying on the websites.

Yes, I did email. Applying thru the websites did little to no good for me. Honestly, I just picked a few departments that sounded interesting and started emailing everyone on the list. Be sure to email department chairs as well, and kindly ask if they can forward your email to their colleagues. That's how I ended up with my job...the department chair was nice enough (and many are) to forward my email and one of the professors happened to be looking for some help. In my email I basically just said who I was, where and what I graduated with, and that I was looking for an assistant position for a year (possibly more) while I apply to medical school. Best of luck to you! I have my orientation on Monday, so excited! 👍

EDIT: Oh, and yes I am an employee of UTH now.

nope, no interviews yet...haha, there was no way i was getting any w/ my pathetic first score! i have a below avg mcat score of a 27Q (that's the new score...i know it's still low), but a decent gpa (3.7) and pretty darn good ECs/experiences, so hopefully i will get some love from the schools that aren't so numbers based!

There are several of us on this forum who are in the same boat as you are. I was processed a week after you, 3.47 31 and still no word. Maybe we should start a new texas thread for us who are interviewless for moral support...j/k I met people in my classes today that are in the same situation as us who are not on this forum who have not gotten an interview yet either. So its not just you and its not just me who have been complete since early/mid august and havent heard back yet. They will hopefully get to us soon. Hope that calms you down a bit! Good luck.

were you processed before you retook the MCAT or after? I was processed 6/13, but my new mcat score got to schools on 8/29, and no invites so far except tcom.
 
I was processed on 7/04 but my second MCAT was not recorded on TMDSAS untill 8/17.

I want these darn interviews done because they come at the WORST of times. My Baylor interview is on Friday but before that I have 2 tests tomorrow (biochem & evolution). That means less time to prepare for my interview and I can't just shaft studying my tests. ARG. ARG. ARG.
 
Have you guys heard anything about UTMB scoring slightly higher than UTSW on their most recent step 1? It might just be a rumor I heard but I was just wondering...

No, BCM students score about 1 SD above national average. UTMB has the highest step 1 scores of all the TMDSAS schools. It's very impressive considering that they are heavy into PBL, and PBL has been associated with low step scores. They must have a hard-working student body or are doing something else right.
 
bcm was 1, and utmb was 2, according to my knowledge

Tech said they review your apps on the same day as your interview. I'd say that gives them plenty of time.

Even compared to UTSW? UTSW said their step scores were an avg of 227-230. I can't remember what UTMB's was.
 
Oh, they could be neck and neck then. I think UTMB was 229 or so.

This is quite true... I didn't get back into town until near midnight... and I had a biochem quiz at 8AM and a micro exam right after.

I don't think I got to meet you either. I kept an ear out for someone from Baylor - since that's where I did my undergrad at also. In any case, I was the oddball in the navy suit, eschewing the black color de facto of interviews.
 
Baylor's is typically in the mid 230's. UTMB and UTSW average in the high 220's, with UTMB a point or two higher than UTSW.

At my school (UTSW) the classroom learning is pretty much the extent of their USMLE prep for you (plus an optional review course in year 2). I hear UTMB has a step 1 component in their curriculum but not sure about that - they also have a great review given by a doctor in the area. It's really impressive that they've brought their board scores up so significantly the past few years.

Heh... at my TCOM interview, they had me listed as being from Baylor (which is fine since that was my undergrad), but I've done all of my post-bacc science at Tarleton. At that interview there was a current undegrad from Baylor who gave me a great "who in the bloody heck are you" look when he saw my nametag.

i spoke to a dean at utsw and they said that it is way too early to be worrying about anything. many more invites are still to come, we just need to be patient.
 
I spoke to a friend today who was processed in August, I believe. He has a 4.0 and a 31 mcat and he's recieved interviews to UTMB, SW and Houston last week. He's scheduled to interview in October. So apparently you can still apply late and still get interviews to the top schools.

So I guess for people like me who applied early there is not much of an advantage.

i think its all mcat.
 
I think texas schools are a bit more interested in gpa's than mcats.
 
well if its gpa, id expect at least one interview, which i pray must be on its way.
 
Hard to tell if schools look at GPA or MCAT more with the people on this forum. Everyone on here that has interviews has almost perfect stats. Lets wait till they interview more people with stats below 3.7's and only a 32 on the MCAT 😎
