I emailed the UT Houston admissions office and they told me:

"If TMDSAS processed your application to us on (date processed) then it was reviewed for the first time within about a week of that date. If you have not received an interview invitation (through email or regular mail) then you are still in the applicant pool and your application will continue to be reviewed on a weekly basis until the end of the interview season which is in January."

Compared to other medical schools around the country, it seems as though Texas schools have pretty high mean GPAs considering that for the most part (UTSW aside), their average MCATs are not all that high. Anyone know if Texas weigh GPAs more heavily than most medical schools, or is this just me being paranoid considering that I have a low GPA but a decent MCAT? I just realized it's 11:30 on a friday night... I'm getting the hell outta the house... I hope you are all doing the same.

Yah, I sorta already gave up on UTSW. I think they're reserving those interview spots for August MCATers. Considering that their averages for both MCAT and GPA went up last year, I am not surprised that they are interviewing more "top score" (3.8, 33 MCAT peeps) people this year, despite what others may say..... 🙁 And I thought I had a chance with a stellar GPA and low 30s MCAT.....grrrrrrrr!

I have found this whole "who gets an interview" game a total joke. I didn't get an SA interview but got a UTSW invite. Too bad b/c I heard nothing but good things from my friends about San Antonio and was looking forward to checking it out. I crushed the MCAT and have a decent gpa but Baylor didn't give me an invite. Plus, I did the clinical volunteer and biomed research ECs, too. Freakin weird. People are right, it's a crapshoot.

When I interviewed (9/11), there were about 50-60 of us.

i believe it's because texas has a lot of spots available so naturally the scores will drop a tad. plus there's not as much competition.

If you didn't like UTSW during a Saturday, I think you should take them up on the clinical observation during the week sometime in the future before you jump to a conclusion that might have a bias against the school. I mean if I had never been on campus before the interview on Saturday, it would have come across to me that it was a lot deader than usual. I got interviews at all the schools in Texas, and I don't regret ranking UTSW as #1, I love my classmates and the school.

I am going to sign off, so I can get some studying done after this, but just to let everyone know, a lot of my classmates didn't interview until December or January. Some weren't even August MCAT people, so since Texas is not rolling, I would say not to worry yet if you haven't heard anything.

Did anyone else here give UTSA a self addressed post card to send back? I did and I just found out it laying on my table today. It was torn in half!!! I called my mom and she said that it's been there for two weeks, she didn't know why I didn't see it. She said the postman told her the mail had been damaged (obviously). To top it off, there's a small piece of tape holding the two pieces together...cool huh?

Yah, I sent one, and got it back in like, 4 days. Weird how UTSA was one of my first "completely complete" applications, and its one of the only schools that I haven't heard back from (along with UTSW)....mine wasn't torn in half though, hehe. (J/K)

UT-Houston was my third interview invite--TCOM and A&M came first. But don't be surprised if they all come at once--I think I got four in one week, and then didnt hear from anyone for almost a month! Good luck to you, Chiquita!

Yes, make sure you have at least 300kb of space in your inbox. My inbox was not full, but I did not receive the email because I had under 300kb of free space. I found out about two weeks later than everyone else who received the email via snail mail.
