I submitted my TMDSAS application on the 26th of this month... This was before I knew about this site... I thought I was getting an early start, since they're not due for a long while... But apparently I'm not early, but a little on the late side... If my Primary doesn't get sent out until the end of August, do you all think I'm still doing okay time-wise? I have already sent in all of my secondaries except UTSW, which I am planning on finishing sometime this weekend if I can figure out what to put for one of the questions...

I am pretty sure you will be fine. Just realize that you are in one of the "pre-schoolyear" rushes. It may take longer for processing, but most schools realize that you are doing your best to get your stuff in a timely fashion.

I think you're all right as well. It took about 10 days before I was notified of my first interview date; expect interview invites around mid-August and interview dates around mid-late September. I've also heard that applicants look more competitive at the very beginning of the screening process, no matter what your GPA and MCAT are. If your stats are fairly competitive, you should have nothing to worry about 👍

Btw, I was processed on 7/21.

make sure you guys check your junk mail folders carefully for interview invites. last year, both my houston and tech emails went to my junk mail folder, and was about a milisecond from emptying my folder when saw the word "interview" out of the corner of my eye. and, as far as i can remember, that was the only correspondence tech sent (no snail mail). good luck in your interviews.....i'm sure you guys will rock!

So, if you think maybe you already deleted the invite... should we call to see if one was sent? I have my hotmail fixed now, but... anyway. I know my file was completed on July 22nd, so they didn't see my stuff before then. Do you think I am safe?

I think Yahoo is better with junk mail....used to have Hotmail, but had lots of problems sending and receiving mail. BTW, did anyone have trouble opening the attachements on the UT Houston email?

Yep, good 'ol Hotmail lol....I had my filter level at "enhanced" and I just lowerd it to "low". Also, make sure you select the option to save the junk mail messages in a folder for 5 days before its deleted--thats how I still found my UT Houston invite....

I called UTSA last week to make sure my file was complete and they also told me we will be notified via snail mail if we are selected to interview.

Betsy is awesome; I think she practically knows me since I've been in there so many times. I applied to the eight Texas med schools, and called each school to make sure that they received my stuff; all of them had. So far, I have interviews at TCOM, A&M, and UT-Houston. I'm getting worried that I haven't received a letter from UTMB yet; I was processed on 7/16, and I know UTMB has all of my stuff. Grrrrrr I hate waiting....

I can't believe the interview process is getting into swing again... and I was at the same place you guys were only a year ago 🙂

You must be in the first interview date for UTHSCSA... we just finished the first part of CIC and are going to be starting the hardcore classes on Monday the 2nd 😱

I was TMDSAS processed on 7/16. Received my UTMB invite by hard copy letter in the mail on Friday, 7/30.
Other interviews:

TCOM--personal phone call (eek!)
A&M--email followed by hard copy letter in mail
UT Houston--email followed by hard copy letter in mail

You shouldn't turn down an interview just because you have something more 'important' to do, like go on vacation/drink/whatever. You need to remember to keep your calendar very open this fall cause a couple schools will barely give you 2 weeks notice. I had one only give me 10 days. However, if it is a valid reason, call the admissions office and tell them why, that you are still very interested and you were hoping you could reschedule. It does happen.

I personally had already accepted an interview at one school when I got an interview for my current school. I called up to reschedule and to be honest, they weren't that nice about it and almost told them to forget about it. I'm glad I didn't however since I ended up ranking them #1. I just told them I would take the date they were offering me (january something instead of the september date) and asked them nicely if they had any other cancellations to let me know. Within a day I got another email saying they had an opening come up and I made sure to take it.

That's so funny! I was supposed to be studying for a lit test this morning and my fiance kept coming in when I was reading the SDN posts about interviews....he thinks I'm crazy, too. LOL!! 😀

He just saw the other posts that y'all wrote about your sig figs thinking y'all were crazy....He just said "At least you're not the only one." I guess there is sanity in numbers. LOL!

Does anyone know if TMDSAS will continue to finish up processing you app and send it out if you are taking summer classes right now? I am wondering b/c under my transcript section on the checkist, it doesn't have the complete marked off.. so I'm guessing they are waiting for this one class I am taking now? (so that means resend my transcripts again after this class?) If someone could PM me and let me know that would great. Thanks!

UT OC: You're supposed to keep updating your file even after it's been processed. This is what I got in response to my question:

"As for the N's, that represents that AFTER (once
grades are reported) that first semester that is marked you NEED to have
an official transcript sent to TMDSAS so that we can update your courses
and GPA. Then you'll need to do the same after the next semester you
have marked. The N will then change to R meaning we RECEIVED that
transcript and updated your courses and grades.

If you didn't list the courses you plan to take for Summer 2004,
Fall2004 and Spring 2005, then you need to email those courses that are
in progress or planned so that the schools will see the courses you plan
to take between now and August 2005."

Mine had that for awhile as well and did not change until the day you processed it....no worries about summer classes (I'm taking classes as well). As long as you are certain that you have all of your transcripts in, then you have nothing to worry about!

Just for everyone that is panicking... there is still plenty of time to get everything in. If your MCAT is good and your grades are good and you interview well you are well ahead of the game, regardless of whether you have your app in yet. Obviously, no one should be wasting time and it takes awhile to get stuff processed... but just do a good job and don't worry about your friends who already have interviews.

After all, if you don't have to take the August MCAT, you are doing better than lots of people. (no offense to those that do)

I recieved an invitation to UTSA this past friday in the mail. My interview is on Aug 16, Soon! I need to start preparing, 😱 but I figure I'll at least be prepared for my Houston interview a week later. By the way, have you heard from Galveston?

Good Luck on the A&M interview! I work on the second floor, but if I see the interview group I'll be as friendly as possible 🙂 As far as the UTH hardcopy I don't think there was anything with it that I didn't get from the email (actually the email had more stuff). when I get home, I'll check to make sure and let you know.
