I can't wait!!! I'm done with finals on Tues and after that it's time to do absolutely NOTHING!! My gram (my most favorite person in the whole wide world) is coming down for my graduation and is staying for a whole month. We're going to have a lot of shopping and eating to do to catch up!! 😀

Here here! I'm at work...there are these huge windows in the room where I work that look out onto some perty evergreen trees and nice landscaping. The birds are flitting about looking happy, taunting me because I am trapped inside this sterile-feeling building!!!

nope. i am not going to hope anymore and will begin to work on my app for next yr's cycle. not that i wasn't warned, but i applied VERY VERY late. anyone else out there..DONT DO IT!!! take it from me =(

yeah Hmg...i called tech today, and they told me that they still had 5 interview dates that were not filled. I also called Houston and they told me that they sent out all of the interview invites, and if you're invited to interview you should get it by the end of the week or next week.

Really? Fits in with what I've heard. Someone at my last interview said they didn't get their tech invite until 10 days before the interview date...Anyone have an experience like this?

Hey hmg...I'm sorry to hear that. On the other hand, it never hurts to call and find out what is going on with the other schools. The worst they can tell you is "no". This opens doors for you to find out how to improve your app for next time. Meet with the schools you are most interested in and find out how to strengthen your application. I agree with previous posts...get your app in early. It makes a HUGE difference when it comes to interviews and the interview is where you can really show them your stuff!

Good info, has anyone called TAMU or TCOM to see how far out their interview schedules go/status?

what's really weird about a lot of these schools is...if you ask them for the status of your app. they may even tell you.."we have everything we need..blah blah..etc..etc.."

and at that point, you think all is well..so you keep checking emails/mail hoping you get something...

but if you actually ask them about when they are going to stop giving out invites...they will then say..."oh..yea..we have stopped sending invites already.."..

at which point you then say..."hmm..so assuming there isn't an invite in my inbox right now...am i rejected"

they will say.."unfortunately , u did not get an invite this year.."

it's really weird. i wish they would just say...get lost..or something else..instead of leading you on..(almost like a girl leading a guy on in a relationship..haha) i guess it can happen the other way too..=)

btw...the last time i talked to tech (yesterday) ..they said they had TWO interview slots open...

to the person who said they were told there were 5 slots remaining...was it simply 5 dates remaining (which would make sense if they interview on wed and fri...ie..tomorrow, friday, next wed, next friday, and then jan 7)

OR...was it 5 dates with openings remaining..(which would not be in agreement with what i was told..)

i was told that one of the two days is almost full..and that the second of the two has more openings remaining...

oh well..i'm REALLY hoping for this one...otherwise..it'll be "back to the lab again yo"....at which point i really will lose myself..... 😡

Can anyone verify that houston and UTMB are finished sending out invites? I heard the UTMB is finished, but I think I just read that Houston has sent the last batch and everyone should know within a week or so. This confuses me because I thought UTH sent invites by email? If so, wouldn't we know right now?

I still haven't heard anything from either of these schools, I think my international status scared them away. 🙁

I was bummed to hear that some of you folks haven't gotten many /any interviews. I haven't heard any fat chicks hollerin' away yet, so don't give up hope. If adcomms screw up and don't hit you up with invites and/or you don't get in, I agree with (and will be following, if things don't work out) the advice I read on here. Contact adcomms immediately, set up appointments at the schools you like to discuss how to strengthen your (our?) applications and then begin to strengthen your app for the next app cycle. I'm hoping that none of us will need this advice, however!

Just as a note, I'm not normally this disgustingly sappy, but I must say that over the past few weeks, the rest of the premed threads have truly been painful to read, for the most part. This thread, however, remains a bastion of chill people and a pleasant lack of "should I rope my ass to my waist for my interview?" questions. I will be bummed when it disappears from page 1 come February 1st. Good luck peoples!

Thanks man. I would say that if San Antonio gave me an interview I would probably still rank it below Galveston and Houston (schools I have been interviewed at). It is nothing against the school or the city of San Antonio but I've lived in San Antonio for 7 years and I just want to live somewhere else if I can.

I guess the frustration with the waiting is essentially what AsianDoc touched upon. I had a string of interviews and invites and then nothin for like 1.5 months and counting. And i don't want to sound like a jerk because I'm really happy and feel fortunate that I have gotten the interviews that I have. But, just like any other premed, I want more interviews, more options, etc. I guess this knawing feeling that I've already been to my last interview coupled with a pretty rough semester has made me on edge a bit. oh man what i'm doing, gotta go back to studyin biochem. late.

In response to those of you who called UTSW...

I called them yesterday (Monday) and they told me that they still had not finished giving out interview invites for their last interview date...?

And to the schools that we don't get interviews from, are we going to get any nice-sounding rejection letters or do we just assume we got rejected?
