Wow, I didn't realize how much larger this post is than last years, there were only 908 total posts on last years thread! 2004

are we 1) more talkative 2) more interesting 3) more OCD?

I'll take more OCD for a $1000 Alex.

Maybe those who ranked them low matched with a differnt school, and therefore were dropped from the Tech system. Those who matched with Tech remained in the system and therefore still have a status.

But since I declined interview, why would it not drop me from the system? I don't think this is correct. Anyhow, there is way too much speculating going on. I get my new drum kit tomorrow and that should keep me occupied until the Match! You buy anything JDAD, to satisfy your shopping urge?

I'm kind of bummed because almost everybody that's checked has a blank admission status box and they have great stats which leads me to believe that since mine still says interviewed in it that I got rejected. 🙁

Rest easy. Mine is blank, and my stats (number-wise) are average.

I have decided to hold off on my spending for the next eight days, because I plan on rewarding myself with a ski trip to British Columbia if I happen to match at UTSW. I figure that trip will cost about $500, so I can't afford to spend any money.

I figure that if I match at any TX schools, I can cancel my next interview in NY and go skiing in Italy for a week with the money I will save on airfare and lodging.

I still haven't heard anything from Baylor. It kind of hurts my feelings, but I am impressed that they have somehow managed to figure out that I hate Houston and I will won't go there even if I get in.

I am just praying that I get into UTSW, if I don't, then instead of skiing, I will be interviewing. I rescheduled all my interviews (PennSt, Dartmouth, WakeForest) until after the match. If I don't match to UTSW, then I have three days to get to Hershey Penn. and that won't be any fun or cheap!

I think I'd lean strongly toward the 'driving myself crazy' - I think we just prefer to have company 😀 . Hmm someone should put up a warning sign, there are lost of lost marbles on the floor.

Yeah, if I don't match I guess I am taking a "vacation" to NYC to interview at Einstein. Anyhow, I hope to save that money and match. Oh this waiting sucks!

It hurts my feelings too, but I've realized that I don't want to be in Houston either (too close to home, humidity, too much med center traffic). My interview at Tulane is scheduled for this Thursday, but I recently decided to decline it b/c I want to stay in Texas. Even if I don't match at one of my top schools, I need to stay here for family/boyfriend/cost-effective reasons.

Interesting post. So if you dont match at SW then you would prefer possibly going to those out of state (ie more expensive) programs over the other UTs?

lol - can you imagine the poor sob explaining he got caught hacking into TMDSAS to ADCOMS.... I just wanted to find out a little early 😀 !

Wasn't there some story about chinese hackers screwing up amcas a couple of years ago?

Judging from the appearance of the TMDSAS site, I'd guess security is not exactly state of the art. It would be slightly discouraging to find out you didn't match b/c someone hacked the system, but they didn't have the records to figure who/how... I'm betting they do use a lot of paper records over there.

So do I. Now I'm going to obsess over this rather than the TMDSAS dates.

From the response from others, this is the conclusion I have come up with so far. All the people who had great stats but had ranked tech last or almost last have a blank "admission status" box.
The others with good average stats ranked tech as their number one and still have the word "interviewed" in the admission status box.

I really don't know what this means, this is just something I observed. But please correct me if I'm wrong.

I think JDAD's theory that maybe we matched at a higher school and got subsequently dropped from Tech and all other lower ranked schools on our list makes alot of sense!

I'm glad you think my theory is a good one, but Pink MD declined his interview, and he still hasn't been dropped. Nobody really knows. Also, I am a first timer just like you, but if I did have to go through this process again, I would make sure my applications were complete in July instead of November.

Jess, my boyfriend thinks I'm crazy. I keep reiterating to him that almost ALL of the people on the Texas thread are just as obsessive compulsive/anal retentive as I am. It's okay though....he provides a good balance to my craziness. I can't imagine dating one of you guys (no offense). All we'd talk about is med school....and I think I'd just go absolutely insane!

I really, really liked the school too, but then again, UTHSCSA was an awesome experience as well and I'd be closer to my bf in Austin (which, I'm beginning to think that Dallas or Galveston is way too far away from him). A match at UTMB would also make me happy, as I think I'd be the most relaxed and confident there. My bf's best friend is also there as well, and he'd be able to show me the ropes. So, as long as I match at one of my top three, I'll be thrilled (okay, I'd be happy with ANY match)!

I've got to give props to JDAD's Texas Tech theory as well.

I felt the most confident with my chances at Tech, but ranked them 3rd of 4. I now have a blank field.

I am pretty damn sure that the blank field does not mean a rejection, and the "accepted at a higher ranked school" theory makes a lot of sense. Of course, I could just be tring to be overly optimistic.

Haha, my bf also thinks i am insane. he's also in austin, but having spent all of college apart (him in tx, me in nc, omigod, long distance suuuuucks, suuuuucks, succcccks), ANY of the texas schools is "close enough" to him for me 😀. worst nightmare for me is not getting into any of my UT schools or baylor (which also has yet to show me some love, and i interviewed there in november.... 🙁 ). more time apart is like, the worst thing that could possibly happen....and im willing to drive 3 hours! uncertainty is killing me. 😱
