The vast majority of hunters enjoy hunting and also eat the meat from the deer they kill.
Now, I am firmly comfortable with my hypocrisy. I don't like to hunt. (I do like target shooting though) However, I enjoy the fruits of my families love of hunting. mmmmm venison. quite yummy.
Many hunters also donate extra meat to programs like Hunters for the Hungry, which aides to not waste meat AND feed hungry people.
Vegetarian? No. I never said I did not believe in killing animals for food. In fact I admire the native american's ability demonstrate their respect for animals by both revering and hunting them. However, unlike today's "hunters" the native americans would use every part of the animal, ie meat for food, hide for clothing and shelter. This is very respectable. What I really have a problem with is hunting for "sport". Getting your rocks off by shooting some helpless animal from far away and displaying its head as a trophy. This to me is ludicrous. If you're going to hunt to eat cause you can't afford food otherwise or because that is an easier way of attaining it, then fine, I have no real problem with that. But if you're going shooting bambi to prove you're hot ****, then I do not respect that. That was my point.
