Hey guys, so I just figured something out! I didn't notice before, my on the UTSW status page, they have raised my GPA to correlate with my fall grades being added. This must be why it says application recieved, b/c they got my fall transcript (which obviously came from TMDSAS since they are the only ones I sent it to). NOW, it seems that if TMDSAS didn't send the updated fall grades of everyone who interviewed there, then maybe this is indicative of the match. SO, everyone who has application recieved should see if it has updated GPA, and anyone who doesn't have that should inform us as to whether or not they sent in their fall transcripts and whether or not they have been validated! I think asiandoc had interviewed still, and if my memory serves me she is both validated and has updated fall transcripts (both before I did) Anyone else?

I didn't have any new grades to report either and mine stayed "interviewed". Sounds like Pink solved it for us. Great job dude.

i dunno...i graduated in may 2004 and didnt send any new transcripts in. mine says app received. im not validated.

Anyway, my question is how low have people matched. Again I know I have asked this before and I even asked my advisor but havn't gotten a response yet. So how low, I mean I have realized that any school is better then no school but I would prefer my first or second choice, so have ya'll heard anything new.

Many people have not matched (one spot beyond last) and many get their top choice. I think there is a whole range in between. Believe me, If there were answers to these questions, we'd all love to hear them.

I wanna blow of some steam now, someone asked me where I interviewed and for whatever reason I didn't wish to tell them and they knew that and yet they kept badgering me to tell and I still didn't. but then this person goes off and says I am this and that, bunch of negative things. Now I tell people I am cool with everything about interviews and how it went but for some reason I wish to not tell this person, so am I wrong or is the other person. btw, i didn't want to tell the other person because I just get a good vibe from them. so what do you guys thing.

I think if you want an answer to that, you will have to take a deep breath and ask again. I really couldn't follow it too well! From the little I got... I don't see why you have to tell people. I guess its like MCAT scores, it is a very personal thing. MOST people don't want to play "is yours bigger than mine" - there seems to be a bit of that going around... If that is the vibe you got - I don't see why you have to indulge the person.

how about the alphabetical or chronological theory - has anyone's status changed from interviewed to applicat. recieved since we began talking about this. If they were doing it in some kind of order, they should continue working today, and we should know.

A) do you really think this is the correct forum to discuss the newest guns being used to kill (keeping in mind that this site is designed to assist those of us that want to go into helping cure people).

B) defending yourself against enemies is very different than taking up arms in a time in which the vast majority of citizens (of our country) do not have a direct role in self defense. Therefore, if you and the other former soldiers wish to discuss the biggest and baddest guns (not being respectful of the killing power of the weapons but instead saying how "cool" they are), then perhaps that would be best discussed in another arena. Aren't you a moderator? How do these topics relate to medicine?

UTSW Update:

I called and they told me the updates had nothing to do with the match. They were just doing random updates.

Here's my info:

My status changed, from "interviewed" to "application received" yesterday.

Stats: 34Q and 3.95

I have not been validated

I have not submitted my fall grades

My last name starts with a "D"

I haven't checked my UTSW status today because I am at school and I don't remember my password.

Alright, what we need to disprove this theory is:

Someone who has updated TMDSAS with a transcript recently, ranked UTSW 1st, and whose SW GPA is not updated to reflect their updated TMDSAS GPA.

Holy crap, they should just all give us acceptances for being (or attempting to be) super-sleuths. Hahahah!

I just emailed someone at A&M and she said that she can't give an estimate since it's different for each year. She said though that letters will be in the mail on Monday! 🙂

Ms. _______, thank you for your inquiry. I cannot say how many students will be accepted off of the wait list this year because every year is different. The list of "alternates" are those applicants that we interviewed with good interview scores but because we can only accept 80 students total we did not have the space for all of them. We send out letters to all of our alternates asking them if they want to be on our list and considered for acceptance. All letters go out on Monday. Best wishes.....and good luck!!!

to my knowledge there's no official function for interviewees but i'm working on getting something together after the match for people to be able to come to SA, stay with students (if they wish), and check out the school and surrounding areas. i'd recommend taking a little visit wherever you get in to look at apartments, get a feel for the town, and get your name on the list for parking (if you need).

Everyone's back to being civil again, so I won't expand on this topic...But really JDovez, if you truly want to try to understand why people would talk about weapons I will pm you. (Hint: Its not because we are all murderous villians.)

RangerD, I went to ranger school after commissioning and jump school. Then I went to a regular light infantry unit, then to a spec ops command unit. But never in ranger Batt...

Now back to mid-morning pleasantries...True Blue, take over!

WOW! I make a seemingly innocent comment this morning about deer hunting while sipping my cup of coffee before work, then I go to work and come home later only to realize I stirred up a firestorm! 😱 There were 4 pages of postings to catch up on! Well, I see it has settled down now so I won't rehash.

It looks like it did get some folks' mind off of the clock though. Maybe I should make some comment about capital punishme...nahh, nevermind. 😀

Dizzydog, its good to know a fellow spec ops guy is out there. There are not many of us around, but it is nice to run into someone with a similar background. You and EvoDevo and the other vets out there, thanks for paying the price for the freedom we all enjoy. 🙂

Sounds depressing. Mine never changed. It always remained as "interviewed". I never sent any updated transcripts since submitting my TMDSAS application and I was validated on 1/17/05.

Your comment, is typical of what I'll call "Liberal disdain" syndrome: sneering disdain of that which you don't understand, an air of moral superiority, and the need to lob insults ("compensating").

It is because people like RanderD, dizzydog, myself, and erlaza served in our armed forces throughout the history of America (and will continue to do so in the future) that you have the opportunity to have a nice, safe life. Read history, my friend. It is only very recently in the history of the world that the average citizen could live a life in complete ignorance of weapons and self defense, and not suffer the consequences to their life and livelihood. In some places (most of Africa, the ME) if you're not armed then you're roadkill.

People kill, my friend. It's a failing of the human condition. Better to have the very best weapons to defend yourself (or your family, country, the innocents of Bosnia, etc) than to end up as a statistic.
