I heard that it doesn't really last until 5. I think that you can leave pretty much as soon as you finish your interviews, unless you wanted to wait until after your interviews to go on the tour.

I had my interview at UTSA on monday and had a great time! I went to the social the night before and advise going to it. I got to talk to a lot of really cool current students who were all very friendly and helpful.

The interview day was fun and low stress, I really like the school! I will probably make it my first choice. No problems with my interviewers. No weird ethical questions. Mainly focused on my personal statement, which is all they have in front of them. Don't stress UTSA, they want you to go to school there, not scare you away.

I emailed TMDSAS today when San Antonio still said they didn't have my committee evaluation letter (Documents Recieved Page said that TMDSAS got it on 6/30 and it is now 8/17). They basically said that the med schools are busy with phone calls and that they just told me that in a reply.....I don't know whether to believe this or not b/c today and yesterday I talked to two different people who both spent about 15 minutes on the phone with me trying to figure out why they don't have it. I don't know what's going on and I don't trust the people at TMDSAS.

Well, my application was processed on 8/4 which was excatly 1 month after they recieved it. and the 'c' for complete did not appear on my satus page till it was 1month, ie.after they finished the processing.

Don't worry, Taj! I was processed on 8/4, and I've only heard from UTH so far. My application is still "out for review" at UTMB and UTSA...so there's still plenty of time.

Something weird like that happened to me with UTSA. I was processed on 7/14 but they did not receive my LORs until 7/28. My school sent them on May 4!!!! I think this is why I have not received an interview at UTSA. Tech also did not complete my application profile until about two weeks ago. From what I know, they are my two "slow" schools--the latest ones to complete my application profile. I don't think it's a coincidence that these two are also the ones that I haven't heard back from. It doesn't make much sense to me, but what I've heard from other people (who applied last year) is that TMDSAS is disorganized, and so are the medical schools themselves (or at least some of them). Don't feel alone--my stuff is kind of messed up too. I'm trying my best to be happy with the interviews that I DO have. Anyway, I'm gonna try to relax, as there is nothing more I can do. My application is now (and finally) complete at all of the Texas schools; I'm sure they'll complete yours as well....just give it some time

Ditto to what asiandoc said...What I would do is keep on TMDSAS's butt--at least they dont have a deciding factor in your interview status...maybe try to convince them to send it again?...I don't know what else to tell you, it is most probably that UTSA is very disorganized and perhaps lost your stuff...(a lady at TCOM showed me what the shipment looks like from TMDSAS--its literally a big pile of papers 😕 )

It was a fiasco geting all my stuff coordinated too and I am finally complete/processed at all the med schools (or so they say)

I still haven't heard back from A&M or Tech

Just call the admissions office and ask if you file is complete/processed. It seems Tech has to do an additoinal "processing" before it is ready to be reviewed.....

I was TMDSAS processed on 7/21 and Tech did not finish "processing" me until last Friday, 8/13.

hmm lane, shouldnt you be working on your proposal or something? 😀 the weekend's coming up fast!

for the rest of you guys... the interview at ut-houston can actually go that long for some people. basically they start you at 7:45 and then they're not always that good at the timeframe for scheduling the interviews. a few (very few) people had them almost back to back early in the morning and were able to leave pretty much right after lunch, and then i think i remember i had one at like 10 ish and the other around 2 or 3... so there is a lot of sitting around time. they have various tours and things you can go on, but a lot of interviewees just ended up hanging out together and chatting while waiting for their interviews. and yeah, that damn $9 for parking sure bites.

as for uthscsa, the interview day is pretty laid back and SEUPATTY pretty much summed it up. they definitely do seem interested in the whole person. as for student housing, the second and first years in charge of it just started getting everything in gear, so hopefully anyone who wants to stay with a student will get the chance. feel free to PM me or lane about uthscsa.

stina is a hopkins baby, i went to emory, and there are people from stanford, northwestern, princeton, duke, yale, brown, harvard, wash u, vandy, and penn just to name a few. there are plenty of people who went out-of-state for college so yall won't be alone.

that said, there are also TONS of people from state schools so don't worry about demographics - just come in trying to have a good time and look around to see where you will be happy for the next 4 years.

Well guys, I am getting ready for a crazy few days. I have A&M tomorrow, Galveston on Friday, and UTSA on Monday. The I'll have a few days rest before Houston next Friday. I guess I should be nervous, but I don't think I have the time!

I am about to call Tech to see if my app is complete. I haven't heard from them or UTSW, but it's still early and I am super happy about the interviews I have. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week. Good luck on all of your interviews and good luck to those of you battling with TMDSAS...

I just called Tech, they said everything was processed (through their system) on 8/11 and that it usually takes 2-3 weeks to receive an emailed invitation. I hope this helps some of you out, it sure relaxed me a bit. The lady on the phone was really nice and didn't seem bothered by my call. I suggest anyone who is worried just call them up, it took like 2 minutes.

I'm in the same boat as you....I have heard back from UTH, TCOM, UTSA, and UTMB....but still no Tech, A&M, or UTSW....

Yeah, seriously. Since this MCAT/applicaton/interview process began, I've started losing my hair! (Maybe I'm just being paranoid cuz apparently, I still have tons of it!) 🙄

I hate this waiting game as well 🙁 🙁 I am having a hard time doing my other secondaries......

But I have to admit, waiting for MCAT scores was the worst, because everything was so uncertain and hinging on that score!!

At least we now know where we stand as an applicant....this is the home stretch guys!!

TCOM: phone call then email after setting up date
A&M: email
Tech: email
UTSW: email then snail mail
UTSA: snail mail

Maybe....each med school sends an automatic interview invitation to applicants with high (whatever the school defines this as) scores. The rest of the applicants are reviewed by committee member(s) and a decision is made to offer an interview. (i.e. A school sends out interview invitations to applicants above MCAT 33 and GPA 3.7 a week or so after receiving the application. All other applications below the cutoff are reviewed manually within the next few weeks...months.)

So if you haven't received an interview within 2 or 3 weeks, your scores may not be high enough to get you an "automated" interview.

That's my guess.

After calling to check that all my materials have been rec'd by the various schools (thanks for the heads up, GutsyGal), I thought I'd post how each school receives your primary app materials:

Houston: electronic download, avail. immediately. [very fast review process]
San Antonio:electronic download, avail. immediately [very fast review...I'm already before the adcom]
Southwestern: e-download, uncertain review speed.
Galveston: assumed e-download. [They already have my materials processed & in the system. However, it'll be 2 weeks before a review is complete.]
Tech: snail mail [though they can view that TMDSAS is complete 4 me, they haven't rec'd "this week's packet."]
TAMU: snail mail [ Rec'd my primary yesterday, will review in next two weeks]

So I'm guessing that if you haven't received an interview within 2 or 3 weeks, your scores may not be high enough to get you an "automated" interview.
