Blissful absence of pre-match anxiety?

To be consistent with my true procrastinator form I am going to wait until the last minute to be stressed about the match. To do otherwise would be just plain hypocritical.

Ditto for me on all of the above. I can log in to the big sib (ms0/ms1) page. 👍 I also had the "app received" and now have a UTSW page with vbscript errors on it. 🙄

I'm cautiously optimistic (and losing my mind!) Why can't they just release the match results FRIDAY? Are they really going to change over the weekend - i guess Feb 1st just sounds better than Jan 28th... I like the 28th myself, and if TMDSAS folks are reading (and lauging at us lunatics) we wouldn't mind a bit if you let us know a couple of days early! 😀

Just to clairfy: lets me in means it does not say "invalid login" or something like that, and instead lets you in the page, although it says "Sorry, but we cannot find you in our database," it shows you the form to fill out.

What have the "cant get in" folks been seeing?

That's correct. The don't have you in the database bacause you haven't filled in the questions. The match you with your big sib based on the answers to those questions.

If you don't have access, you will come to a different screen. Try entering in an invalid password, and you will see what I mean


I have to give props to those who figured this out. I have access, and I also had the update to "application received" and now the script errors.

In order to figure this out, we need those who didn't get updated, don't have the script errors, and don't have access to let us know.

I didn't interview at UTSW (damn them) but I think if you can log into a big sib website you guys are set...

I personally think, this may be the only valid "discovery", about discerning the results of the match, made on this thread...so, good job Alexander Pink...I think you've done your detective work very well...

So has anyone discovered a link between those of you who can get into the UTSW web site and the LMF date change or lack of change? I am assuming that if you can get into the UTSW wed site, then you think you have matched there and also matched with your #1 choice. Is that correct? I am hoping that your LMF date did not change to 012705.

my LMFU is 1/7 and still not validated. turns out i do have access--initial problem was that the last time i checked my status, i forgot to log off...so when i clicked on the link, it took me right to the password protected page, bypassing the login. i couldn't figure out what "login" people were referring to until i realized that i had never logged off. then i was worried about the "we do not find you in the database" at the top of the big sib page. but it seems like everyone sees it, despite seeing the survey questions.

i'm wondering what it says for people who "can't log in." do you get some error page or something? make sure you weren't confused like i was.

oh, and my LMFU never changed. it remains 1/7
 
I ranked UTSW 4th, UTLilly, and when I tried to log-in it says, "You are not authorized to use this application" on a blank screen.

NO link between LMFU and match IF this is indicative of match. JDAD could log in and had LMFU of 1/27/05 and I had one of 1/10/05.

Yah, I don't think it has anything to do with the match. Lotsa peeps with good stats did not see a change yesterday. On the other hand, lotsa peeps with good stats did.

I really REALLY don't want the LMFU to have anything to do with the match since it didn't change since 121604. The fact that some people may have *matched* to UTSW and their dates didn't change makes me feel a whole lot better.

I have been hunting around the med school websites to see if I can login anywhere....anybody have any luck, besides UTSW?? 😀

*EDIT* Did you guys who can log into the big sib thing at UTSW rank Tech lower and have a blank on your Tech status page?

I don't think these dates are indicative of anything. From what I have read these past few days, the only conclusion I could come to is that the change in LMFU was *possibly* a negative thing. (let me stress possibly) But, JDAD had a change in LMFU dates, and can log onto the UTSW stuff...so it looks like he may have matched there, therefore the date change has nothing to do with match.

SFAJess, while I don't think you need the luck, here's a little just in case. :luck: Think you're in somewhere, I just hope you got your #1!

I have liked Mr. Pink's theory from the getgo and I now think he is correct, those who can log in to the SW sib site are probably in. SW seems to have the most high class operation when it comes to the application process and their website, so I am thinking that those who have been accepted have gone into their system already and have access (ie to the big sib component), and those who did not match have not been given sed access. Of course this is speculation, but it seems to be quite founded.

As a test for your theory asiandoc, we can conduct an impromptu poll of those who ranked UTSW #1 and have access vs those that did so and do not. Actually, of those who ranked it 1 and have (close to or) above the UTSW averages (~3.80 and 32.5 I believe) would participate only, then it might be a little easier to determine the validity. Just a thought.

Okay, you guys are gonna think I'm really strange, but I was actually a little *RELIEVED* when I couldn't log onto the UTSW page earlier this morning. True, I ranked it number 1, but over the past few weeks, I have come to realize that I'd probably be a better fit at UTMB or UTHSCSA (I need a more chill environment). I think that my average MCAT score (combined with the fact that I'm Asian, hint: should have 34 MCAT or above) kept me out of UTSW. It seems that having a 4.0 GPA did not guarantee me (or anyone for that matter) a spot at UTSW. Yes, I am a little disappointed, as I worked hard to double major and keep a perfect GPA, but I've realized that school is not everything, competition is not everything. After the match (I hope that I match SOMEWHERE!), I plan to relax a little and take some Yoga/Aerobics classes--all the things I wish I would have done when I was too busy trying to make top grades in Orgo and Physics (which I did!). So, to sum up, congrats to those of you who were accepted to UTSW! Like my dad keeps telling me, things always work out for the best--what's meant to be is meant to be. Okay, I gotta get ready for school....I'm gonna try and stay sane and moderately happy this weekend =)
 
why is the address for the utsw website and how do i know my username/password? sorry, i only logged into this thing once, now i completely don't remember...

I think you might be onto something here. I am in the 01/15/04-01/27/04 gorup and I haven't been validated either.

I read through the posts yesterday, and it seems everyone who say a date change in their LMFU wasn't validated.

my lmfu update is 011405 (didn't change yesterday) and i'm still not validated.

tx, I was able to log onto UTSW but I also still have interviewed on my Tech page but I ranked UTSW #1..so I'm not sure what that means but I'll leave to yall to find out..I just don't have that type of brain power at this stage in the game :laugh:

Thanks, you can also find that site by going to swmed.edu and then navigating yourself to the current student part of the medical school website

I feel the same way...I went back in forth in terms of how I should rank UTSW and UTHSCSA...I ended up ranking UTSW first, but now I regret it...UTHSCA is a great school, and it would be great to have the opportunity to attend
 
I was able to log in with my name and birth date and get a EUID and a UNTID from the students website at TCOM😀 ...however I didn't have a "pin" so it would not let me in and said I was a intruder. 😱 When I tried to login with a fake name it said it could not find me in the records. TCOM is my second choice so if anyone else applied...try and see if you can do the same...just curious :idea:
 
I posted earlier you guys but I think somebody misunderstood what I was saying. I've been following this status change thing on the tech status page since we started obsessing over it. Until 1/27 my status box for Tech had "interviewed" in it while most other people had "blank" boxes. But yesterday on 1/27/05 my Tech box changed from "interviewed" to "blank". What does that mean. Could you guys check to see if your changed as well or am I the only one? 🙁
 
My Tech box still says "interviewed".....who knows what it means 😳

Interesting that you say this. I think the match does a really good job of maximizing acceptances early on. However, it forces you to choose a school before you can go to second look weekends or compare financial aid packages. I think I would have stuck with my ranking, but it probably would have made me think deep and hard about the merits of my #1 and #2 choices if I had been accepted at both and had to decide afterwards.

I think we are very fortunate in Texas to have so many excellent schools.
