Hello Everyone,

I would like to know if anyone has been accepted to programs in Oklahoma or Texas? If so could you please be kind enough to give some detail on the school you were accepted to, your stats, some words of encouragement, or pointers this would greatly be appreciated!! 🙂

Hello Everyone,

I would like to know if anyone has been accepted to programs in Oklahoma or Texas? If so could you please be kind enough to give some detail on the school you were accepted to, your stats, some words of encouragement, or pointers this would greatly be appreciated!! 🙂

I got into both TWU Dallas and UTMB in Galveston. Both are great schools, but measure very different things.

TWU uses your last 60 hours of GPA and your Math/Science GPA. I had a 3.74 last 60, and my Math/Science was I think a 3.8. My GRE scores for Quantitive and Qualitative were in the 500's and the written was a 3.5.

UTMB uses the last 90 hours of GPA as well as the Math and Science GPA. My GPA for the last 90 was 3.9. They don't use the GRE as much as looking at you as an overall candidate, I don't think.

Both schools look at your recommendation letters which depending on the school weigh more or less heavily on where you end up on their list of accepted or alternate. Since I have not been on the committee, it is hard to figure exactly what they look for. I also applied to and was interviewed for Hardin Simmons, but was not accepted there (after seeing their program at the interview process, it would not have been a good fit for me).

The key is to contact the person that processes the applications at the schools you are looking to go to and have them give you the specifics as to what they look for. TWU has a person that can evaluate and advise you @ [email protected]. Good luck in the process, the getting in is one of the most stressful parts, then comes the first semester which is what I'm preparing for now.
