Thank you note

I'm not anywhere near the applying stage yet, but I recently had two people writer LORs for a summer program I applied to. Since I got in, should I send them a thank you note? The LOR, in reality, was just a quick questionaire and a couple of lines for comments at the bottom. I already thanked them when they emailed me letting me know they sent them out, but should I send a thank you note? Tell me how to do this, because I have no idea (length, what to say, typed or handwritten etc)! I know this is an odd question, but I've never written a thank you note before, and I may want to get LORs from these people in the future.

If you want more letters from them it cant hurt to thank them. A short note letting them know you got in, thanking them for the help, excited for the program...its a lot of bs but its the right thing to do. When i thanked my interviewers from medschools i typed a letter on letterhead (other prefer handwritten, but my writing is terrible). For the people who wrote letters, i thanked them in person or via email, with an update. Hope this helps

I haven't gotten my LORs yet, but I'm thinking of including a small gift and thank you card for the professors/doctor that write one for me.
