Hello Everyone,

I decided to start a thread for all of us April 18 MCATers. Please feel free to share in your thought, success and frustrations throughout this process here!

All the best!
Good LUCK to all of us! 😉

I hope this is not too specific that it'll get me banned:

I got ester wrong, yeast/alcohol wrong, maybe squid wrong, immune system wrong, repressor wrong, CN wrong, centripetal acceleration wrong....the list goes on and on.

Hey man don't worry, I'm right in the same boat with you. Sadly, I'm as nervous now about getting my scores as I was leading up to the MCAT. I can't tell which is worse.

so, hypothetically, if you guys went on a fishing trip, and you saw a big one in front of you...maybe could feed 6 or 8 people, you just need to kill it and you have one shot. my guess would be that i should aim slightly behind the fish. what do you think?

im planning on going fishing this weekend, so just sayin'.

I think you'd be starving to death.

telescope--at the focal point?

Plug some numbers into this one (try infinity): 1/o + 1/i = 1/f and you'll get the answer.

Should my sugar pills be in first or second cabinet? I'm thinking first cabinet because of my cat........

Hey Mega,
I don't mean that you are being too specific; I just don't recall the question on diabetic. Perhaps you can rephrase the question in another way without giving away the actual question itself.

haha! I love fishing...i think i'll trying fishing with a rifle too!

I dunno man shooting above it you'll never hit it! those things swim so fast.

I mean my brain sees the fish in a straight line, but stupid light bends and twists with the water.

I'm gonna try shooting my rifle a little below it...I dunno why but i'll tell you how it goes. 😉

good luck with your fishing trip!

Ok I'll give it another try. Two women came before a diabetic judge in a child custody dispute. The first woman claimed the twin babies belonged to her because she was their biological mother. The second woman claimed she raised and nurtured the twins ,therefore, she had more influence in their lives and should be awarded custody.
The diabetic judge was stunned by the case and spent an hour in his chamber trying to see if he was more aligned with the views of the first woman or that of the second woman.

Mega, now I remember. It was the second to the last passage and it sucked *****. I didn't really have a lot of time to think over each of the answers as time was running low....with the said, I chose the first 'cabinet'. What were the other two 'cabinets'?

'cabinets'--->LOL

Maybe I didn't have this, or just can't remember it because this is confusing the crap out of me.

Lol, on second thought i get it, let me think about what i put.

I chose the first.

Say i were to ask you a probability question, what would you put:

Chudat - if I were making a galvanic cell, I would think about LeChatalier's Principle if I wanted to increase my voltage. I could also think about it in terms of V=IR.

I think there would be a change... if I had a reaction I wanted to make go faster, I would increase the concentration of the reactants... That would increase the current and since the resistance in the wire is the same...

Glad we all agreed! Yay!

I think there would be a change... if I had a reaction I wanted to make go faster, I would increase the concentration of the reactants... That would increase the current and since the resistance in the wire is the same...

Or one could think about it as E = E0 - (RT/nF)lnQ... if I were increasing the reactants of my hypothetical reaction, that would decrease Q and thus make E larger than E0.

I was thinking the same thing during my test and actually had a change selected. But then i couldn't remember any stipulations on the SRP having anything to do with concentration. I found this on some lecture slides through a yahoo search:

Changing the stoichiometry does NOT change the reduction potential (intensive property)

I don't know if that means it will or wont change. I also found things about different concentrations that confused me. Applying Lechatalier's principle makes sense to me and that's what i initially did, but I'm still not certain about either choice.

Would the salt bridge limit the speed of a reaction in any way? Or can it run as fast as it wants independent of the salt bridge concentration?

I can only give you 25cents because I'm in a recession.🙁

i feel a ban coming, but sorry mega, in a recession this bad i cant even afford a quarter...more like a measley 6.25 cents. i'm 100% sure thats all i have. god this is getting really corny. i think ill stop...for now.

That question really pissed me off too. 🙁

I looked it up online and got a lot of mixed signals about whether it matters. That's just my conclusion after reading up on it.

It pissed me off because in ALL of the passages I did and practice tests i took, that factor was never taken into account. I never had to answer a question where it changed. They were mostly spontaneity questions.

Actually thinking about it you may be right... if I had a reaction with a solid in it, I dunno about it counting in the reaction quotient Q.

If you read the Wikipedia (i know, great source) for SRP you'll probably feel better about your answer.

see I thought about it in both ways as well. My conclusion:

changing the stoimetric coefficients changes the entire equation by the same amount, whereas changing the concentration of one species shifts the reaction in a particular way.

I really don't know though. Could be either way.

Definitely corny..lol

Anyway, I felt very recessive that's why I gave 25cents to him. I could be wrong though. Better check my wallet........:meanie:

AAARRGH this wait is killing me...its such an ego boost when I realize I got questions right that I had not been sure about...but its equally demoralizing to realize I got questions wrong. I'm just going to stop thinking about my answers because this is just so much more stressful...

I know. I really need to chill out and stop constantly thinking about the questions.

I think everybody around me is starting to get annoyed. I keep talking to other people at my school about the MCAT and the questions on it...I just think its about time I just need to chill out and realize whatever happens, happens.

before you guys chill out, sorry, what about the one on CN?

I said Ch3ch2Cn

yup, and I think I had only 6.25 in my pockets....honestly this is getting ridiculous. Somewhat satisfying but at the same time torture because Im not sure at this point what I really put down now....btw didnt the Cu voltage one only have qualitative answers, not quantitative....

I don't remember those questions specifically enough to be any help, heh. It's all blurring together now. Sorry 🙁

Yeah I have the same problems with those. Unless I saw the specific question, i'd have a hard time remembering what i put. I do remember that part being pretty decent though.

Oh, but the Orgo passage. That one pissed me off too, at least for a few Q's. The reactions didn't seem to go together, I got confused about what was going on.
