Hello Everyone,

I decided to start a thread for all of us April 18 MCATers. Please feel free to share in your thought, success and frustrations throughout this process here!

All the best!
Good LUCK to all of us! 😉

What series numbers do you guys have??? This is driving me crazy waiting for them to call/email me back.

AAMC AVERAGE:
PS:11.166 (8-13)
VR: 11.33 (11-12)
BS: 11.83 (10-13)

(this is including the AAMC 3, which was taken before I'd finished content review)

REAL:
PS: 10 🙁
VR: 11
BS: 13

Total: 34R

I was hoping for a little higher based on later tests honestly, but I was so freaked out...I'm just glad this 'ish is done. On PS my performance was so negatively impacted by anxiety. For about 3 minutes I just sat there looking at the clock, feeling like I was just going to run out of the place. I got my groove back towards the end, and it's hilarious I had pretty much 0 change in my verbal score from the very beginning. I did put the least amount of work in that section. BS was pretty much expected as I felt that section went really well for me.

i feel like i just got hit by a ton of bricks.

10v 10p 8b

i averaged 12 bio on all aamcs, and came out of 4/18 thinking i got 14 on it.
congrats to the others.

Hang in there. 28 isn't awful by any means. You may want to retake b/c of the bio. PM if you need anything.

I know the VR is low... but do you think i still have a chance at MD schools without retaking? I have a 3.98 GPA in biochemistry. The passages were so much longer on the actual test and really threw my timing off and i guess i just go unlucky on some of my guesses. I really do not want to retake

Do I have to retake this because of the verbal? How much to Medical schools weigh the verbal? Ah I was averaging 10-12 on the verbal on Kaplan, but I was so distracted on test day because everyone in my test center was typing their writing section during my verbal section. I don't know what to do

Typically 8 or 10 is the verbal cutoff dependent on the school, so you should squeak by (dependent on your GPA and other variables). Congrats on that BS!!

I made a 35. But my VR says 13-15. Does anybody know what this means?

it says VR: 13-15
BS: 12
PS: 10

Wow, I've seen this for practice tests but never the real thing. You must have gotten them all right or missed 1-2, which put you in the range of 13-15 dependent on what everyone else did.

I'd tell people I made a 37 😛

I am in the top 7%!

With a 3.97 GPA I think I have a very good shot at USUHS and the University of Minnesota, my top 2 schools!

Navy Medical Corp Here I come!

Now I can go train for that Marathon!

I am so happy I can't believe it. All I wanted when I started studying was to break 30. I should just take the day off from school. I have to do something.

Good luck everyone!

Hey congrats on your score! That's really awesome! How did you feel after the test? I wrote on 5/2/2009. I used TBR and had decent practice score as well, so your scores are encouraging. Were you rushed during the test at all, or did it go smoothly? I was pretty rushed during my PS and VR towards the end, so I'm really worried... accch.😡

Which schools take the highest on each section? I raised my verbal by 5 points but my PS dropped! 🙁
Taking my highest score I broke 30.Help!

I had a 28S the first time and retook to get a 37N. N?! N?!?!

I still got in, though. It's not the end of the world, if you can demonstrate your ability to write sensibly on the secondaries. 🙂

(But honestly, there aren't that many schools that care. Unless you're in Canada.)

Well, I'm a philosophy major so I like to tell myself I'm a good writer. Guess I'm wrong!

MCAT writing isn't knowing how to write. It's knowing how to write according to the MCAT's "formula".

They shouldn't even have that section. It just distracted me before BS.

You can do everything the same way and end up with a dramatically different score.🙁

33R - I am quite happy with this, although I was hoping my BS would be higher because I felt really good about it. I guess you never know. Funny thing is, this is exactly what I predicted on here last week! Congratulations everyone for surviving the wait and for doing your best!

I finished each section on time, and even had a surplus in the physical sciences. After the test, I was mostly relieved. I thought maybe I had a 32-35. Berkeley Review with a little biology supplement from EK and verbal reasoning from every source available made me confident I did at least 30.

If you happen to have taken the class, then if you did ALL of the passages in their handouts you'll be fine. Those were the best materials I used for verbal reasoning and excellent reviews for the sciences.

Good luck not only with your score, but waiting to get it. The last few days have been a sleepless hell.

31Q - I am happy with this score! I did not feel that I performed particularly well on test day compared to my practice tests but I'm pleased with my score at the end of the day.

I was really concerned with BS coming out of the test. It had always been my strongest section but I was surprised with its level of difficultly on the actual test. Anyhow, I am happy to score an 11 on it. 🙂

Congratulations to everyone on writing this MCAT!

WTF about that L Do you guys think i should retake with an L?

Writing doesn't matter (unless you're canadian), as long as you can do a good personal statement. The VR proves you can read, so prove you can write with that and you'll be good 🙂

Got a 34L, how bad is that L? Not really sure what happened there, but is that alone cause to retake (I wouldn't otherwise)?

What I was told about the writing section was that you can have a beautifully written essay, but if it doesn't answer the very specific questions they asked, you were going to do poorly on it. Other than that, I guess it's completely subjective.

I've also heard that the number one correlation for the SAT writing scoring was length.

This is all hearsay, for what it's worth, but so is this entire website. heh.

I have a 99. I hope there is a mistake!

I'm so confused. I thought I did really well on the verbal and wound up getting an 8. I got an 11 BS and a 10 PS, with a Q for writing. Should I retake it?

I'm gonna need more info before I can advise on a retake... It's a pretty solid score, but depends on your GPA, EC's, and where you plan on applying.
