Accepted at LMU-DCOM and just got an interview invite at PCOM-GA! Best week of my life 🙂

Look into SMP programs with linkage. There are a few around. Applications for these programs opens up soon (Nov-Jan) for June/July start date. Keep your options open my friend. I'm going to do the same if I don't get an acceptance here in the next month or so.

Haven't been logged in, but I have been lurking for awhile. Got rejected from LECOM-B and DMUCOM, but things are looking okay otherwise.
Had an interview last Saturday at Western COMP-NW in Lebanon! I should find out the results within two weeks! Keep 'em crossed, guys!

It only takes one and one school to see your potential. Last year I was wait listed, sent numerous LOI, with no avail. I was even told to try and bring up my mcat 1-2 points. This year a totally different school saw my potential and valued my healthcare experience.

I also have a fair amount of volunteer/research experience.

Congrats! You don't seem like an underdog despite your cumulative GPA being low. Your science is great and MCAT is average/slightly below... but not by much.
Anyway, congrats on your KCOM interview!

Just got my second interview invite at KYCOM (or PCOM). I cannot wait! Fellow underdogs...please don't give up. I submitted most of my secondaries early July and am finally starting to hear back. Just hang in there!

Good news: I was finally Released yesterday and received 8 secondaries in my email. Aww yeah! Also, I got a pleasant surprise when I found out I miscalculated my AACOMAS GPA. Turns out my sGPA is 3.34 instead of 3.09 thanks to my post-bacc work! I'm still feeling underdoggy with my MCAT, but now not quite as much 😉

Hey guys, i've been told i'm not an underdog but i certainly feel like one.
I've gotten 3 interviews (Touro NV, NSU, Lecom B) and I'm currently waiting for more. I haven't heard alot from adcoms after those three. Western sent me a deficient application email (which got cleared up) but they still haven't sent me an interview and I've been complete for a while now.
cGPA: 3.36/ sGPA 3.26 / MCAT (1st) 27Q: 10PS/8VS/9BS (2nd) 28R: 11PS 7VS/ 10 BS

When were you complete with Western? They sent me that deficient application email, and another email basically stating that I'm on pre-interview hold... Im guessing that means that I'm not bad enough to outright reject, but they want to play the field a bit more before committing to me as a potential student.

Call them. Start calling Western every week for a "status update." I had been doing that the last few weeks, and then they finally called me yesterday granting me an interview at the Pomona campus.
My understanding is that there usually is a huge pool of completed applications, and the more times you call the faster your name rises to the top for review. This is just my impression though.
I am really excited about this interview, this definitely will be my top choice if I am accepted.

Don't sweat it man, I'm sure you will get in--it will just be a matter of time with LECOM-E. I interviewed at LECOM-B, and was also put on the alternate list.

What is experience day??
AZCOM would not give you an interview if you were not competitive. When were you complete? I was complete late June and had an interview for Oct 10, but I cancelled it when I got accepted to MSU. Keep checking the portal, others will cancel and you may be able to grab an earlier date. I let someone know when I was cancelling and she grabbed it. Went from Jan to Oct just like that!

Had a friend goto the NSU experience day and he said it was great. It is for the applicants that they are very interested in having matriculate. Just don't get too self assured. Stay focused and know they are watching you the whole time. He said someone blew it bc they thought it was a given they were in and didn't take it serious. Good luck! Hope to be in your shoes next year!

i updated and incorporated some of your color scheme. IMO I just feel realistically ppl are not going to talk about every detail about every school they applied to. They just want to know acceptance, rejection (pre/post interview), and waitlisted. (Since all they have are the basic grades to compare to.)
If you take a look at the one made in last years thread they didn't even update it after a while.

I was complete mid-August. I'll take the other posters advice as well about calling them every week for a status update. I feel like I'm right around their annual average stats so I hope I can at least get an interview.

Great advice, thank you! For some reason that option didn't even dawn on me. Although from what I've heard NSU > AZCOM. I didn't know what experience day was either until someone replied on this thread. Apparently you go around listen to the dean and some others speak, sit in on a lecture, eat lunch and I'm not sure what else honestly. I thought it was just a euphemism for an interview.
*On a side note. What are people doing about covering up any visible tattoos? Should I or shouldn't I? There are 3 hebrew letters on my pointer, middle, and ring finger on my left hand.

Personally, I'd cover them up if you could--just to be safe. Its probably no big deal, but you never know.

How are you going to cover it up? I don't think make-up on your hand will work since you constantly are washing them. Perhaps band-aids on each? I doubt they would ask what happened. Or you could just go as you are and not hide a part of yourself and if they reject you based on a few tattoos then perhaps that isn't the right school in the first place.
Just pull your sleeves down a bit. Keep your hands on your lap when your sitting... and don't worry about when you're walking. Nobody really notices anyone's hands when they walk, haha.
Not moving your arms at all while sitting may look really awkward, lol. In reality, I don't think your tatoos will be an issue at all. Just don't flaunt them (however cool they may be), and enjoy your interview day! 😎

Lol. You know I was thinking that too (in regards to not hiding a part of myself), but I don't think this is the time for idealism. I realize that I'm going to have to kiss ass and put on appearances most anywhere I go. If I could have it my way, as a doctor, I would walk in with shorts and a t shirt and have patients call me by my first name.
The doctor I shadow used to be on an interview committee and told me that a lot of times he made decisions based solely on how well the person groomed or kept conversation (ridiculous)! His advice to me "...learn to play the game."
With that in mind I guess make-up here I come!

But seriously, unless they're massive knuckle tattoos I wouldn't sweat it; just don't fist-bump the adcoms or interviewers.
If someone actually considers this, tattoos would be the least of their worries.

Actually the DO I shadowed is kind of like that. When I met him he was wearing jeans, backwards hat, and a scrub shirt. This is actually the way I practiced dentistry for years (and I have a visible tattoo with short sleeves). Only twice has a patient commented on it,but both were positive. ...and I introduce myself to my patients by my first name.

Retake your MCAT before you apply. You won't get in with an MCAT that low. Try to bump it to at least 24, if possible.
What's the breakdown on that score, anyway? 5,6,7?
