Another interview at WVCOM!

Hi. Just got MCAT back. A bit depressing but still hopeful. Debating whether it's worth it to retake Sep 1. Even if I bump it up 1 point to a 26. Still, I'm not sure what difference it'll make. That's why I'm begging you guys for some advice. Interested in Osteopathic medicine.

25R, 3.78 cGPA, 3.98 sGPA, Fulbright Fellowship, good EC's.

While your total MCAT is probably ok based on your gpa; however, I think the 2 7's in the sciences will hurt you. I've talked to a couple adcoms that told me they don't really look at verbal. Good news is that its probably easier to improve in the science sections than the verbal.

Hey everyone, I was hoping for some help. I am a florida resident with a 3.65 cgpa and 3.5 sgpa. I just got a 25O on my mcat :/ which is on the lower end of my practice scores. Is there any chance of getting accepted to a FL medical school? MD or DO?
Hey, similar situation. 25 MCAT. All the best to you. Keep me informed if you get some good insights. I'll do the same. Good luck?

How are you studying for the MCAT? More than a red flag of how low they are is how you didn't improve. If you DO take the MCAT again, make SURE you know you will improve. Also, how is your spread?

interview at tucom ca!! good luck to the rest of u underdogs!!

This post has no real relevance, but I just wanted to post in here since I will probably posting in the 2012-2013 thread 😉

Anyways, it's nice to see all of you going after what you really wanna do. Not everyone has to opportunity to take a straight forward path to med school, nor does everyone have the privilege of having 3.9 GPA's and/or 38T MCATs. Looking over the the pre-allo forum, things can get pretty discouraging if you don't have the stats that I listed above. I really hope all of you get to pursue your dreams, and hopefully your persistence pays off!

Pre-Allo threads are full of dreamcrushers and trolls. Pre-Osteo is where it's at!

Interview at LECOM-E! 🙂

Updated front page! It's starting to look really good 👍

I have heard pretty much nothing from med schools for the past two weeks, which is bittersweet. No interview invites (bad), no new secondaries (bad), no additional "on hold" emails (meh), and no rejections (good). All I want is one call! Looks like it might not be happening anytime soon though.

Great job to all of you underdogs! To all of those that are thinking of applying next year and are keeping up with the underdog madness... the stats (so far) clearly show how important the MCAT is! No interview invites to anyone who scored below a 24, so get that score up! And if you have a below average GPA, don't be discouraged! Best of luck all :luck:

DJack, I just want to commend you on the amazing job your doing with this thread, and the positive attitude you have about your own application status. You're keeping people motivated and updated on the latest underdog stats. Best of luck to you buddy. I'm sure we'll be seeing a red "ACCEPTED" next to your name on the front page by the end of the cycle. 👍

Haha thanks! I appreciate it. I'm not so sure I feel the same way right now... with my score I'm not feeling like it's realistic to get in somewhere. Everything on my app (EC's, shadowing, volunteering, LOR's, leadership) is excellent, but my MCAT raises a huge red flag. Fingers are crossed though! :xf: Thanks again!

Honestly though, it's better that your MCAT is the weakest part of your app than something like leadership, volunteering, etc... The MCAT is just one exam. It takes months to develop a solid amount of EC's.

Haha I'm not so sure the ADCOM's feel the same way about that. I guess we'll find out! Thanks for the encouragement though 👍

Interview at LECOM- Bradenton! 8/29... SUPER NERVOUS!

Need 2 finish filling out secondaries for other interviews... hopefully soon!

Hey all,

I recently turned in my primaries and don't want to waste any time getting ready for secondaries since I applied to a lot of schools.

Is there a resource or some way I can find out what kind of questions will be on the secondaries so I can knock some out?

I don't want vague answers because time is precious and I don't want to waste it.

I'm considering calling a couple of the schools and seeing if they'll give me some sort of hint, but figured I'd ask you all first. Thanks!😎

Look around on some of the threads in the "Osteopathic School Specific" sub-forum. In many of those threads people will post secondary topics as soon as they get them. While not all schools have sent secondaries yet, the majority have. You should have some good luck finding info there! 👍

I don't know if this is an old wives tale or not, but I feel like schools judge you if you take a long time to send in a secondary. So crank it out! The faster you send in a secondary, the faster they can give you an interview.

Also, I really like this thread. Wish it was here when I was applying!

interview invite @ lmudcom!!!
good luck to the rest of my underdog crew!!!! hope to see some of u there!

congrats guys!! Would you mind posting your app completion date next to your interview invite date? my AACOMAS was just verified today so I'd like to get a timeline of when to expect an invite if I get one.

Thanks! And congrats again. 👍

you don't seem like an underdog (at least for DO) ... I think you'll definitely see some acceptance letters!
Good Luck!

Haha, you must have been one of the people having a heart attack like me. 32 is what I would have liked to have. That is very good! Good job!

haha well my first mcat was a 24 so im very happy to have jumped so much.

While you're here lol. Can you help me answer the question I had about scores submission to the DO schools? I just chose to release my scores to AACOMAS. Is that all I need to do? :O Oh and with your stats, did you try to do AMCAS too? You should, but if you want to do just DO then that's fine too.

Yes, AACOMAS should update the schools soon with your new MCAT. They send updates to all the schools every week.

Oh ok. Thanks guys. Hopefully I start hearing from schools then. This mcat thing has held me up for almost 3 weeks now. Still regretting not scoring in the 30s because that would have helped me out a lot like I know it will/has for you guys, but I will say that I won't complain with a 28 because I did flub up on verbal and broke down, i.e. I just clicked random answers for the last 8 questions (didn't even read the last two passages).

I just received my mcat scores today. I have my full stats so that I can be added to the underdog list. I have been watching everyone for quite some time and you guys have given me the strength to go through with the application process and try. Anyways, DJack you are a good person. Add me to the list when you have time. Thanks, bud.

AACOMAS
Sci GPA - 3.44
NonSci GPA - 3.24
Overall - 3.39

MCAT
V - 7
P - 10
B - 11
W - P
Total - 28P

I submitted secondaries and everything, does anyone know how i should update the schools with my mcat scores now? I submitted the scores to AACOMAS but dont know if they will automatically send it to the schools or not.

Nice stats! I think you will get interviews no problem and acceptances easily as long as you interview ok. Your GPAs are fine and MCAT is right around the average. If you ask me, I think you are a good applicant! Good luck :luck:

Nice job! Congrats!!

Rock on bro!

Congrats!

Fellow underdogs, seeing people here getting lots of interviews and acceptances makes me happy. I want to update that I got an interview with NSU 8/15.

I take my MCAT tomorrow... yikes! I took a practice test yesterday and scored a 25. If I can score that on the real thing, it will help my case a lot! My scores were a little funky though... On my actual MCAT I got a 7P, 9V, 5B. On my most recent practice I got a 10P, 8V, 7B. Hmm... Keepin my fingers crossed I can duplicate it!
