I signed up for it today! Who else is taking it at this date?
Sorry if some of us started that trend. I joined in, not as a pissing contest, but just since we were sharing our stories on our preparation, whether we were doing good or bad.
Yes it did got a little side-tracked, and maybe not the purpose of this thread or past 'test day' threads I've been in. I can throw you a screen cap if you really want mine.... but thats not the point. I'll say it first hand, that practice tests are easier since normally you're calmer, thats the only way to describe how I averaged low-mid 30s the last two times and ended up with a 27 and 28 respectively. Take that for what its worth. I don't hide the fact that this is my third time on this endeavor, and this is a tough test, and you need to put in the proper preparation or focus - and hopefully life events don't get in that way of that. My last two times, my personal life was choatic, I shouldn't have sat for them but I never liked the easy way out and am up for a challenge for better or worse.
I understand how you feel, in the thread of my last test date I came back with my tail between my legs after not breaking 30 and people talking of their mid 30s and one kid saying he went in not caring either way and getting a 41. It sucks, and since forums are somewhat anonymous people boast or flat out lie. My first kaplan diagnostic was a 19 (two years ago), so if anything I hope that my posts have been positive in tone and perceived as that positive tone that if you commit your time to this, and dedicate your focus and psyche towards improvement and confidence that you can achieve your goal. Some of us may had gotten excited, and for that sorry to have rubbed anything in your face. I was thinking it more of how when I was a track runner, us talking about our splits and practice times and logging them - not for comparison to each other, but as a way of tracking our own progress and then giving each other the extra push we need to do even better and not settle for where you currently are.
Best of luck to everyone on Friday, and remember: be confident, focused, but stay cool - don't get rattled, its just another test, you've done hundreds of these in your life and you're going to succeed.
Just took my last AAMC today and did fairly well. I know that people say not to study the day before but I think I'm just gonna do a quick review of my mistakes from the AAMCs that I wrote down and maybe look over a few of the physics formulas. But I definitely plan on being done by afternoon/evening time.
Starting to feel a little nervous now, just hoping that I remain calm come test day.![]()
are u guys doing light content review in the morning or night time??
Verbal for 9 and 10 were harder so dont be too down..
What's everyone up to after they take the MCATs?
I have to go back to work on Saturday...and Sunday...
BUT....my plan is to bike the golden gate bridge on Monday to relieve some stress....
whose in with me? 👍
Working later in the day unfortunately and then most of the weekend! Probably will go for a run afterwards though.
I wish everyone the best of luck on Friday. All the hard work and dedication will pay dividends in the end. As for the portion the MCAT that is pure luck, I'm dealing with that by visiting the casino on Thursday. I hope they will accept all my bad luck.
Took the 8 am exam- heres my breakdown:
PS- Murder- it didnt even come close to the AAMC exams. I am the last person to say PS was hard- especially since I rock at it!.... I took the 7/2/09 and the 8/21/09 test and this was the most difficult physics section that I had ever seen!! (I hope med schools take my combined score!)
VR- very similar to the AAMC level- which is a relief!!!!
WS- like it- interesting topics
BIO-hated it- it was another genetics test =( For all of you who took genetics in undergrad smart move
Who else took the am exam and how did you feel about it?
I honestly felt like all the studying -- close to 500 hours -- was pretty much wasted. Very angry right now.
Hey all,
so i havent really posted much on here before. But I am having a neurotic episode right now, and I need some peace. I just finished the 2pm admin. for today...and it was all good pretty much. Except, sometimes at the end when you pick score or void. PLEASE someone tell me that SCORE was the first bubble. because thats what i clicked, and i am psyching myself thinking i may not have picked the right one, even though i checked 20 times. void was the second option right????????????????????????????????? thanks in advance for calming my psychosis
Oh yea- who remembers the crazy noise canceling passage…. Magnetism passage…. Insane heavy math chemistry passage… This so not right, the physics was impossible!!!i finally took this.
PS- This is usually my strongest area and on the test i was like wtf are you talking about? so it went like this 1) blank 2) B 3) blank 4) A 5)blank .
the worst part in the last 3 minutes i realized i had skipped a passage so I had to guess a lot...C C C C C
I felt that it was very difficult to eliminate answers. i couldnt use POE at all i dont know why. maybe i was just nervous. did anybody else feel POE wasnt working?
verbal - verbal is verbal, what can i say? i suck at it, end of story. by the way, i hated that passage about interpretation. i had no idea wtf the idiot who wrote it was talking about. he must have been on crack or something
bio - 3 ochem passages, confusing, a lot of experiments, a lot of irrelevant information that was designed to waste your time (and it worked on me, i ended up reading a bunch of stuff over and over again although before the test i kept reminding myself dont read something over and over if you dont get it, move on.)
Usually i am positive about most of my answers in PS and BS and i can estimate my score. but on the real thing, i have no idea. i guessed on a lot of questions so i dont know. may have to retake...
by the way, one word of advice for those who are studying: dont waste your time. none of that stuff will show up.
dont feel bad. i have been studying since december. yes, thats right. every day from freaking 10 am to freaking 5pm. PEOPLE, if you are going to take the mcat, the key is DONT STUDY!! none of that stuff will show up. the best way to prepare is to practice reading passages written by someone high on crack.
but i do have some good news, today i got on the bus for FREE
