Ok, so I finish lecture 1 of the Orgo EK book (3rd edition) and I decide to take the In Class Practice Exam 1 (I am assuming that this is what people would do if they were taking the EK course).

To my surprise, there were questions there that had not been covered in lecture 1. I mean, the only reason why I could even make an educated guess was because I already finished reading the orgo section in Kaplan's monster review book.

Do the EK instructors go over stuff in class that would allow people to answer those questions? I read lecture 2 and half of the stuff tested in lecture 1 was written there...

Anyone with a similar experience or am I going insane?

I have not had that yet, but the practice problems after each section within the chapter are so much easier than the exam. I just got done with lecture 1 in physics and tried to do the exam 1 but damm some of it there was no way, I had to go look at the answer. Also how are you doing these, do you read them three times like EK says, or what? and how long do you spend (hour time) per lecture? thanks

I used their stuff after having taken the MCAT once. I read through each chapter, doing the problems after each section, and felt like I understood what was going on. After all, it was a review. Then I took the in-class exam at the end of each lecture, and I remember being pissed off about the material that wasn't covered. But I also felt that those exams were harder than the actual MCAT would be, and they were timed more harshly as well. So I decided not to get upset over it, and just to learn why I got each question wrong, and trust that the material would get covered eventually.

I have taken the Krackers course (it was great by the way) and both Jordan and Jon said that those questions were written as learning tools. I think what they meant by this is that the questions are presented in a different way. Those questions made you think about the material in a way that allowed you to really asses if you "owned" the material.

Another thing, the in-class lectures are very similar to the Audio Osmosis lectures. If you cannot take the classes, I would recommend buying the CD's. I listened to one lecture everynight before I went to bed (well, actually I would turn the CD on and after an hour eventually fall asleep listening to them).

Please PM me for questions. The MCAT was my evil nemesis last year. With the ExamKracker course I eventually scored 10, 11, 12. This was a large improvement from my 8, 7, 9 score from the year before. Also, I have the ExamKracker CD's for sale if you are interested in them.
