Unsubstantiated black/white comments like really annoy me.
Fact is that the "merger" is going to get rid of all the DO protected residency programs which they rely on heavily to get their high match and placement rates. Unlike US MDs DOs aren't universally preferred by program directors and DO match and placement rates will almost certainly decline. to what extent remains to be seen but it certainly makes no sense to say that everything will remain the same when thousands of residency spots are no longer DO-only.

I don't see how that's black/white? I am merely putting my 2 cents because I don't have a crystal ball and neither do you.
In fact, nobody can how the dynamics will play out...at this point it's all speculation..

I do agree that placement rates may decline but how much it declines is debatable.
Just like MD PDs, DO PDs won't just filling their roster with MDs and IMGs just because they have better "board scores."
If you are so pro-reality, you should know this.

Just a heads up, there are quite a few of AOA PDs that are MDs.

....and plenty of ACGME PDs that are DOs.
