Who's in? I just rescheduled from June 21st. I've been studying off and on since late march, but really started to kick it in about three weeks ago. Applying DO this cycle.

👍

Do we know what time they will be released tomorrow?

Before 17:00

I have heard that it can be hit or miss as to whether they are released up to 24 hours early or not.

Supposedly the AAMC twitter makes a tweet when the scores are released.

Muy interesante re: twitter. That'd be pretty w00tacular if they released early. But I doubt it. :-(

I was feeling descent about 2 days ago, but I just logged into the MCAT release system thing and got a bad feeling. I also had trouble sleeping last night. I was tired, but as soon as I put my head on the pillow I was wide awake. So, I played MW3 for a few hours until I could barely keep my eyes open. Then I went back to bed and the same thing happened. MCAT thoughts made me paranoid and woke me back up. I finally got to bed around 2 A.M.

It's hitting me hard that it's so close to release date.

:whoa:

don't worry, honestly whats done is done. if anyones into anime try watching k-on, its comedy anime and its so funny its helping me kill time cuz of only 35 hr total work/volunteer.

no a 7 is okay, granted your other sections are strong. A 6 would be bad, but depending on if its your retake, and if the school takes the best of each section. 6 for D.O. is not too awful,if your other 2 sections are good i think.

I got a 6 in VR last year, which was my second time taking the MCAT. It killed my score. I got on the alternate list though, so you can make up for it with other areas.

Oh and to help waste some time check this out:

I think the almost zero correlation between uGPA & MCAT and students graduating medical school in 4 years is pretty interesting. That is for anyone above a 26... Makes this whole thing seem kind of stupid.

The percentage of people who get through med school in 4 years with a 4.0/45 is the same percentage as people with my current stats.

GL guys!!! I felt the same stress you guys are feeling a month ago. Don't worry, there's nothing you can do except wait for the scores now!

Less than a day!!! I'm hating my emotions right now... One hour I'm scared and want to hide until the scores are released and not even look at them, next hour I'm all calm and ok. GL everyone!

Same... I'm getting so nervous now... its so stupid that one exam determines your life

Yes, the percentage of people who get through med school does not depend on gpa/MCAT. But if you look at the rate of passing the USMLE, students with higher gpa/MCAT definitely have an advantage.

I would say just because you do bad on the MCAT doesn't mean you can't crush the step 1. Step 1 is way more rote memorization then the MCAT.

i remember the first time i got my scores back.. i was shaking so much

this time.. i just feel really antsy and wanna know now!

if i score less than or equal to my previous score im gonna cry maybe.

I think the best thing to do is have faith in our preparation... though the exam went pretty bad for myself...

First post. I took the Aug 3rd mcat but this thread seems more lively. Like most of you, I am also tripping major ballsack. Had a dream I made a 36 last night, but fear I could have somehow made a 16 🙁 least I finished the exam I guess. Good luck to everyone! We all deserve a good score!

Step one passing seems to have a correlation to MCAT as scores increase.
95% for 27-29, 97% for 30-32, 99% for 33+

Also, 3.6-4.0gpa/27-29 is a ~96% pass while most any gpa with a 33+ is pretty much 98%+
For step one it does not level out at 27+ like previously claimed, it seems to level out at 33+ with a modest slope from 27-32 and a steeper slope below 27.

Good luck on your score today!

Hey, I just met you

And this is crazy

But here's my number

So call me maybe.

Sorry, I had to. I've been reading this discussion and everyone is stressing out a whollleeee bunch. Try to relax some. I took the MCAT on August 4th as well and am ready to get this wait over with!!! Good luck to everyone 🙂

So, passing the USMLE Step exams really isn't anything special. In the current system, passing the exam with a bad score does not guarantee you a residency. Some people do not get residencies. Hopefully congress will fix the problem and dedicate more money and resources to residencies, but who knows.

You can pass the USMLE Step 1 exam with a 188. However, you probably won't get into any residency with a 188. You would have to have many other things going for you. The least competitive residency (Family Practice) averages around 210 I believe, and the competitive ones (Derm, Plastic, ENT, etc.) are more like 230-240. Plus, you have to do extremely well on Step 2.

I'm curious to see a correlation of MCAT scores to Step 1/2 numerical scores, not simply passing.

I don't mean to be a buzzkill, but last year my MCAT score was released a day or two late (I can't remember).

I really hope that isn't the case this time.

Nooo I really hope that doesn't happen! They've already made us (aug 3rd test takers atleast) wait an extra day! Mcat scores are usually scheduled to release on tuesdays, I think they made it wed due to labor day or something.
Couldn't they release scores at a time like 11:59am like they do for univ exams and stuff? why 3pm, its somehow more torturous to have to wait even today =(
