Who's in? I just rescheduled from June 21st. I've been studying off and on since late march, but really started to kick it in about three weeks ago. Applying DO this cycle.

👍

This will be the last thing I say for the next 30 days. Honestly guys, I majored in biochem and took the genetics, 3 years biochem, cell biology and that biology section confused the heck out of me at times. Especially on that first passage with the ****** stuff. I reread it and went over the questions about 5x. A few questions felt tricky because I couldn't decide which was the BEST answer. Like I said, the July 6th test had a lot of experimental bio passages and I could pick the answers straight from the data, but couldn't really do that yesterday or handle the questions well enough to be confident. Again, PS wasn't bad but I am not a math savvy person, so I have to write stuff out in steps to lessen mistakes. If I retake in September, I will use the Kaplan/GS tests to practice calculation heavy passages and TBR 3rd phase. The advanced passages in TPRH SW gave me less trouble. See you in 30 days.

You might want to edit out the specific stuff from your post unless you want the AAMC to come after you.

I am really shocked by how hard it seems to be for people to not say the specific topics that were in their MCAT despite numerous warnings from the AAMC telling us that they go after people every year for posing this stuff in forums and those people then lose their shot at medical school.

Yes, wow. A few posters have been very bold with their discussion of MCAT topics; it's kind of funny to scroll back and see their usernames highlighted in yellow for "account on hold." Well duh.

I echo the same sentiment regarding the absurd difficulty of the BS section. I was amazed, never saw that coming. I also think PS and VR were rather easy compared to all of the AAMC practice tests I've taken. I'm hoping those sections will compensate for my BS.

I'm very nervous about my score. I loathe that it takes an entire month to see how we did. I'm guessing I made anything between 27-33, just as I thought going into the test. I ended up drinking a LOT that night to wash away the bad memories.

And man, I cannot stand having 3 to 5 minutes of your break taken up to be treated like a terrorist every time you enter and leave the testing room. At one point the monitor even came over and distracted me during VR to demand that I put my ID on the desk. (I accidentally left it in my shirt pocket.) I'm thinking to myself, "Dude, you know who the F- I am." I was so upset. Those were 10 seconds I lost. But that's nothing like the person that had to resign because s/he missed a loop. WTF? I'm sorry, that's just asinine.

Meh. Whatever. It felt good to complain. I'm done. LoL

Agreed, 1000%

Something needs to be done to make the break session a little more relaxing. Having a water cooler in the room does not seem unreasonable.

I got an eye-strain during the bio section b/c I didn't want to get up during the break. Honestly, I would much rather have taken the paper test. I know it's longer, but staring at the computer for that long is just unhealthy.

the lights went out last 15 mins of the BS section for me, also when i started the BS section, the ppl still writing the essay were BANGING THE KEYBOARD extremely annoyingly 😡 thank god the monitor and computer stayed on! I actually freaked out thinking the test would be cancelled so I submitted the exam in with like 7 mins left!! Also during the Verbal reasoning, i had a sweater on and it was really really hot (compared to the other room) and I took my sweater off, then the worker came and told me to put the sweater back on! i got scared that i was being watched and got nervous from that. i thought they were gonna fail me and i broke some rules LOL, i have poured my heart and soul into studying for this thing, and ive spent almost 6 months total time studying this, and the wait is not fun 🙁 my test average for AAMC were 34, and for Kaplan was a 35, but this felt horrible ! now to fill out applications with knowing nothing about my score, this is my last time on SDN before 30 days

man thats rough. I'm sorry, im sure you'll do fine

Hey come on, I know it's difficult but try and focus on your application. That's what I am trying to do. Make your application kick-ass and give it your best. You can't do anything about the MCAT right now, but the application is all under your control. And by the looks of your Kaplan and AAMC averages, you will do well. Have faith in yourself. 🙂

oh wow, yea i am gonna delete that post. sorry, i was way to melodramatic! Thanks guys, i gotta stop whining! 🙂

okay so people are talking about "the 2 bio passages"

i know one of them is the 2nd one (at least that was the order for me) where one of the questions was literally a page long (i had the scroll up and down like 20 times) b/c each answer choice was a diagram/chart. right?

what is the other one?? (in the vaguest terms possible...)

please let me know if i'm being too specific here.

I don't know how much longer I can handle this anticipation!!! My AAMC average was 37.5 and I still feel scared >.<. The Bio was killer, and the PS just felt awkward... VR was interesting, but that means the curve should be less kind.

nothing to do but relax. who knows, you could have guessed right on everything; boy would that be something or what? lol

I was under the impression that if I worried more it could still impact my score... haha jk.

Thanks for the words of comfort!

i had a dream i got a 26 (9/8/9), one point lower than my first time of 27 (12/6/9) lol

i've never had an mcat dream until last night and damn that sucked. if everything went according to my plans i will come out with a 13/10/11; damn i forgot how much this waiting sucked the first time, it's even worse this time around.

Tell me about it. My entire application is hinging on this mcat score. The thing that makes the wait worse is that I know I got at least 6 wrong on the PS section... I've been having trouble sleeping since the mcat... I kid you not.

Yep, count me in, too. Not only that, I find myself losing concentration over it during the day. I wonder how many points my Global Assessment of Functioning has dropped. LoL

good thing im only 20 years old and dont have the anxiety of the application yet.. i decided to take the mcat early because i was diagnosed with MS earlier this year and it really motivated me to be a doctor. i dont have any ECs right now, but luckily, my neurologist has taken a keen liking to me and offered to help in any way 🙂 and i have like an extra half year before i apply because i withdrew from last spring semester because my symptom was pretty bad; my entire left side (from the left side of my head, ear, neck, arm, all the way down to my foot, the side of my torso) fell asleep it felt like 🙁

anyways, i retook my 27 from the first time because i knew i could do better (6 in verbal i mean come on). i just hope the verbal doesnt bring me or anyone else down. that section is a pain.

inspirational mate👍

Might be a bit of old news now, but I'm so relieved that I wasn't the only one who found that BS section insane... I left for a short with vacation with friends right after so I couldn't get online, but inside I was dying a bit. I actually ran out of time, which was surprising because I normally have a good 20 min.

The rest was fair though, and I felt very lucky to have the WS topics that we did! 😛 As a retaker, I'm really hoping that went well! SEE YOU ALL IN A MONTH! (ish)

10 days later still not sure how I felt about it compared to the first MCAT I took.

I know. This waiting is so uneccessary. The least they could do is tell us how many we got correct/wrong, kind of like the GRE. Except with the GRE, you receive your adjusted score at the end of the test and just wait for your writing score. This is ridiculously torturous.

The first week went by okay... but I find myself thinking about the score release more and more as it is slowly approaching.

I'm just absolutely terrified of my bio score and hope I did well enough in verbal and physical to compensate. But I was never able to predict my score with the AAMC practice tests. At times I thought I aced it and ended up bombing it and vice versa. It wouldn't be nearly as bad if I just had any idea of what to expect.

You guys can only imagine the horror of opening it last year to find a f***ing 23. I nearly had a heart attack. Now I have so much PTSD from that episode that I'm even more afraid of what I'll find this year.

But that's life. What can I do?

I love how the two SDN banner ads I just saw were for a carribean medical school, and "Med Schools that don't care about your MCAT!" It is also wrong to have a bunch of MCAT prep ads on a forums for people who are waiting for their score.

I guess it is better than the idiots guide to suicide, or get a gun in less than two weeks...

What we need are some Porsche advertisements because that is really how this is turning out :xf::xf:

I'm waiting because my premed committee:bang::diebanana:, won't write my LOR until they get a score they like for me... SMH

I was waitlisted at Indiana for 2012 and reapplying - and was told I basically just need a better MCAT. So between that, waiting, and the killer bio section, this is about how I feel.. 😱

I'll agree.

I was blatantly and completely vague about post-exam feelings and topics, and still was stricken with the ban hammer. But the people posting frickin' links to actual questions that were on the exam, I'd be afraid the mcat police were hunting me. :scared:

I got banned for that link for a week. Please go to look at question #25 from AAMC 8R. I was quoting a site which had the same question from that practice test. AAMC cannot get mad at me for sharing a question that they made public.

I think the point is that you're not supposed to share what was on the test that you sat for. By posting the link you basically gave away private information that you signed a contract against doing. In other words, it's ok to talk about Barack Obama's state of the union. However, if you talk about him after sitting for a lecture where you signed a contract to not talk about him or his state of the union, people might get fussy.

And by linking the AAMC full length test, you basically did it again. I mean, I don't care and I'm not here to enforce rules. That's just my understanding of the rules.

If I were you I'd edit your post about the distinct question on our examination, or your next ban might be fairly longer than a week. 😳

Who said that it was on my test? I certainly never did...

Ya I know, for the PS i got 6 wrong for sure and im starting to think about it more as the release date approaches. only have 15 hrs work per week so not enough distraction for me!

I just remember all the "Marked" questions I had at the end that I went back to and made a decision on. Luckily I only know I got one wrong...

for anyone needing additional help for biological section: Since mcat is now including more experimental passages, I think it will be helpful to read more research papers. I read research papers pretty often and found it helpful. the mcat bio passages were not as difficult to understand.

Two more weeks!!!

Hope everyone that is going back to school has a good semester. I am teaching the advanced physiology lab to a bunch of premeds who know what specialization they want to be but have never looked at an MCAT practice test or material. :meanie:
