GeniusofLove, quick question about downstate if you dont mind...

When were you complete, and what are your stats. I am a fellow new yorker and would love to go to downstate, nothing beats the instate tution, plus its only 40 min away from home for me. GL all, hopefully more good news tomorrow.

WOW 3 INVITES!!! Congrats bro...I'm soo jealous 😀
 
Whew. Finally, I'm officially complete at all six PA MD programs. There were application issues with Drexel, but I FEDEXed them a copy of the completed secondary I printed out in September, so everything is relaxed and groovy now. 🙂

Hey. I think I was complete on 10/17. I got a letter in the mail saying I was complete on 10/24 and then an email the next day with the interview invite. I went to Johns Hopkins, got a 3.6, 34 MCAT, and have a masters degree in criminal justice. I live in Brooklyn already, so Downstate is clearly the most convenient for me too. Good luck to you and everyone else who is waiting on it.

I think both Utah and Pitt were auto-invites. I got the Utah one the day after August scores came back (which leads me to believe they marked me before the new score came, and then invited the instant I was "complete.") And I got the Pitt invite on a Saturday morning after submitting Friday night just before midnight. Obviously nobody read my application, so I'm guessing that was another auto.

I called Drexel 5 weeks ago to ask about my letters. They were posted to VirtualEval by my committee back in April, which is apparently before Drexel logs in and downloads the letters....so anyway, they didn't have mine 5 weeks ago after I had been complete for about 3 weeks. When I talked to the lady 5 weeks ago she said that she would get it done for me, but don't be surprised if the website didn't update for a month.

I patiently waited that month, and then an extra week, and I finally called yesterday because they still weren't updated on the website. Of course, they still hadn't been downloaded from VirtualEval, and so I sat on the phone while the lady downloaded, printed, and inserted them into my file. She had the gall to tell me that she wished I would have called back sooner than 5 weeks, because I just had to get in the back of the line.

I served my mormon mission in Philadelphia, met alot of students that I liked, and had some great interactions with their faculty (where the faculty actually called and asked us to give a presentation in a religion/philosophy class). Unfortunately (and the is the same vibe I get from alot of SDN) Drexel doesn't really have their admissions act together.
 
Rejected bu BU yesterday. Ouch!- considering I work there and got my Masters from them 🙁

What does "bump" indicate?

By the way, UCI and UCDavis are using MCAT quotas of 30 for secondaries - for those who were pondering the arrival of news. It is possible that later in the process, depending on the applicant pool, they will send you a secondary should other qualifications deem you worthy to pay them more money.

Man that sucks. I made the 30 cutoff and my GPA is really strong. I think my EC's and letters should be fine too b/c I received a secondary from UCSD pre-MCAT. What dA FU**!!!!!!!!!!!! UCDAVIS WHY WON'T YOU SEND ME A FRIGGIN SECONDARY?!?!?!? 😕 😡

How do you know that UCD & UCI have a 30 MCAT cutoff? Where did you find such privileged info?

I haven't heard anything from UCD. Not even an email explaining they have received my primary application.

Also, University of Vermont doesn’t screen for secondaries, right?

Anyone heard from OHSU yet?

How do you know that UCD & UCI have a 30 MCAT cutoff? Where did you find such privileged info?

I haven't heard anything from UCD. Not even an email explaining they have received my primary application.

Also, University of Vermont doesn’t screen for secondaries, right?

i'm in the boat with the others who haven't "heard" anything from UCD yet--but i wasn't AMCAS complete until 10/18. i checked the UCD status page, and it said they received my primary on 10/23...go check yours.
UVt doesn't screen for secondaries...
and nope, no word yet from OHSU...

ugh. I just went to one of those med school panels today, complete with adcom members, etc., and they kept pounding the MAKE SURE YOU APPLY EARLY, submit amcas the FIRST DAY POSSIBLE, message into our brains. ugh. not what I needed to hear right now! But drexel said 2 or 3000 of their applicants (who complete everything) are August mcaters..which is alot! so I think there's still hope for us! :luck:

"You've been moved into a smaller pool blah, blah, blah..." - I've heard mixed reviews about getting this email. Some people have definitely gotten interviews off whatever list this places them on, but other people called it the most politely worded "hold of death." - Any thoughts?

which 4?

I recently added Duke, UWashington, UCSD, and Baylor (obviously after my MCAT went from 30 to 37) and those are my complete reach schools.

Are you from New York? Sounds like a good spread. Any specific reasons or did you just want to increase your overall breadth? (we'd be if we didn't think that simple numbers and odds had anything to do with it, right?
