Yeah you can email them. It's optional actually and some people say it will not affect your acceptance. But it will not hurt if you do so right?

Yeah I just felt like it was somewhat odd to do so, like I was sucking up. However, they said it made no impact on your acceptance, like you said. Did you happen to email them at all?

I don't see how a quick thank you note could hurt anyone. In fact Indiana sends hand signed thank you notes to interviewers after the interview thanking us for our time and for choosing to apply + interview there.

I did 🙂 Should have emailed them in 24 hours but I waited till 2 days later cause... I almost forgot lol

It was a one on one interview, pretty much like conversation, no stress at all 🙂🙂🙂
I didn't hear how many OOS interviews but there were 13-14 OOS out of 17 students at my interview, so kinda competitive.
Everyone was polite and extremely helpful, but there were not much things to do in Indiana 🙁

Yeah not much going on in Indiana. Why did you all apply to IUSD?

Half open/closed. It means they didn't get access to my gpa and DAT yet, but they saw my personal statement and gave me questions based on that.
And why IUSD? The tuition is lower and the downtown area is safer (compared to MD - my top choice).

Sweet Toother you must be an Indiana resident then, because the OOS tuition at indiana is like the highest in the country, Maryland is way lower.

oops yeah...forgot about the IS and OOS thing haha

Does anyone have any tips for this interview/anything i need to prepare for?? I'm going there tomorrow actually haha! just looking for any last minute pointers

So bummed we won't be hearing back until March 🙁:scared:
Care to give anymore info on how you heard this?

I was told we (in-state) would likely receive an acceptance or hold on Dec. 1 if interviewed pre-dec. But this was mentioned during my interview which is why I am so curious how you are hearing March?

What??? Where is that coming from?

Sorry didn't mean to freak anyone out! (I have an anatomy test in like an hour....) So I interviewed second day of their interview and had a post-interview like everyone else with Dr. Peterson. She said you will be "updated" on your application around December first which is MOST likely be a denial or a deferral. She said DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED by a deferral because they do most of their acceptance in MARCH. She spec. said that they wait to make most decisions until after spring interviews because they want to give all their interviewers a chance.

I am an in-state and have 2 very good friends that attend IU currently. One who received AMAZING DAT scores and very high grades (I am talking a 30 on ochem, no lie...) and another who had a lot of experience on their application. Experience was accepted in March and amazing dat was accepted in April. Both say that 95% of their class was notified in or after March. The only ones really accepted in December were some OOS students.

Also during my interview the two students on the student panel said the same exact thing ^^^ Not many acceptances until March. One guy said he found out in December but he was from NY

If anyone gets an acceptance tomorrow, Congratulations! But if your status changes do not give up hope!!

Hope this helps.

It seems unlikely that they're going to only offer a very small amount of acceptances until March. Surely they know their best applicants will probably be applying to other schools too. They will be losing a lot of their best in-state applicants if they defer them while another school accepts them. Putting down a deposit isn't cheap and the decision of whether or not to pay the deposit needs to be made by January 1st if you get accepted December 1st. I expect them to offer at least their top 50-60 in-state as well as a decent amount of out-of-state. I could be wrong, but if I was running their admissions I'd try to get the best in-state applicants as early as possible.

According the ada guide they only offered 34 out of state acceptances last year and 30 accepted the offer.

I would think the same thing. I am going off what happen last year two years ago and what D1s said and what Dr. Peterson told me. I hope they tell us tomorrow!! Let's hope they change their mind. 😉

Based on last year posts, most acceptance came from November 30th (TODAY) to December 1st. But there is a considerable number of acceptance offered after that.
And some received rejection email saying the class was full around February. But I guess that's just a general excuse of most schools because some people were still accepted until May lol..So, I don't know. Let see!

Acceptances were started to be sent out november 30th last year. Good Luck everyone!

Got an email from Indiana that my application will be deferred until February 🙁

Deferred too! and I'm OOS
Well at least, it's not a rejection 🙂

Deferred :/ OOS

Is that basically a wait list?
No it's below waitlist even. I know someone who goes there. She got deferred on Dec 1 and then at the end of February they sent an email saying they met again and decided to put her on the waitlist.

Congrats to you! Do you plan on attending?
To be honest, I'm not sure. I don't have a state school. Indiana and ASDOH were tied as my top schools after interviewing for me, so I will wait and see if I even have to make that decision! Congrats to you too!

Yeah I loved both schools and really enjoyed my interview with Dr. Song and Dr. Gitter. It was my favorite interview by far. I just have family in Arizona and in that area and it's a 3 hr flight to home. You're in-state so you're going for sure I assume? I hope you get more good news too even if Indiana is your top choice!
