Yep it was in the library....ugh. And I will probably be there for AAMC 11 as well. /sigh. But 31 under those conditions, hell im happy.

JFC Why did that *spoiler alert* projectile passage from the AAMC 10 PS section throw me off so badly? Like out of all the physics concepts to blank out on?!?!? Once again, I wound up psyching myself out and wasting time on unnecessary calculations, which negatively influenced my performance on the passages after that, causing my PS score to dip by a bit (though I was expecting a lower score than I actually got). Luckily, my BS was bumped up a bit (pretty much have all my orgo down).

While I'm feeling more comfortable with verbal, I'm still constantly losing my concentration (probably doesn't help that I can hear my dad from outside my door). Unless we get really lucky with the VR, I'm screwed.

optimism, bud! no time for negativity right now!

maybe caffeine will help? my VR has been all over the place, but I've done my best on redbull

lol If anything, I might need to step away from caffeine. I drink an espresso every morning (not sure how its caffeine content measures up to Redbull) and while it keeps me alert and awake, my mind tends to be hyperactive during VR and I have to force myself to calm down so that I can really focus and absorb what I'm reading. However, caffeine actually helps me on the science portions, so idek what to do.

;__;

But anyways, I'm trying to turn this scare into a positive. I'd rather experience a roadblock during a practice on so I know what actions to take during the real test.

I have the opposite problem, where I get too focused on minor details and miss the big stuff. So it helps me tune out, and look at the bigger picture. Goodluck, you got this 🙂

any suggestions on brushing up evolution? I havnt seen it since freshmen year of college, keep messing up
I think the most important thing with evolution is that for it to occur.. parents must pass their alleles to their offspring.. thats usually the answer for most evolution questions Ive seen.

Example: What is required for the Species bla bla bla to evolve?
Answer: It must be able to pass its genes.

yea, I just saw a couple of intuitive questions on AAMC 9 and realized I missed both of them... I guess I could watch a documentary or sometihgn on youtube, to get a background

im bitter about aamc 9...with that quasi evo passage/made careless mistakes. I shall have my vengeance in this life or the next (Saturday).

sloppypapi how did you do on AAMC 10?
9/ 8/ 11 🙁

I also feel like I spend too much time fishing for answers in VR, but I think that just comes with practice. Even when I skim, I have issues mapping out where I initially saw the target words. I know looking at the questions prior to reading the passage and highlighting helps for a lot of people, but that always slows me down whenever I try, so I gave up on it.

I mean that's still a 28, what are you aiming for on saturday?
Haha, well when I first started studying, I thought I could easily attain a 35 with the amount of work I was putting in. Now, I'd just be satisfied with 30 - 32. I really don't want to score in the 20s. I'm URM so statistics don't exactly work against me if I scored a high 20, but I don't want to use that as an excuse not to aim high. lol

AAMC 11 (12/15/14) 41.
Can't, for the life of me, get PS any higher....I really hate physics so much.... Just hope I can pull off the other scores on test day!

What are you guys doing the rest of the week? I am so burned out at this point that I can't stand to look at another book.....

I think so yank26 if you have been using the right expectations for PS and BS. My goal is a 12/10/10. I have only gotten 29s-31s though, but some of those were on GS and GS is harder than AAMC PS and BS.

What do ya mean by right expectations?

My goal is a 10/12/10. I've hit each of those in separate tests, but never all at once. As it stands now my high score is 30 and my average is a 29 over all AAMC's

that AAMC PS is easier than the real deal, GS is much closer. And that AAMC VRs are slightly easier than the real deal. AAMC BS is kind of close so that works lol

for the PS sure. BS is alright, hit and miss, the VR really sucks though honestly. I just really like the GS PS and BS results. Before I was disillusioned to think that the AAMCs that we took for practice were all like the real ones and when I took the real one it turned out not to be true.

Yeah your right lol I've been doing TPR to make sure I don't get destroyed by PS like some of the 2014 Testtakes have been.

holy crap on the verbal great job..is this first time taking that exam?

I couldn't sign up for a GS account for whatever reason. In fact, it said my email was already in use even though I never recalled signing up in the past, so I requested a new password but never received an email from the site. Didn't really have the time to contact them, so I took the AAMC. I'll probably regret not giving their tests a chance, but I'm hoping the Chem and Phys passages I've done in TBR will suffice, but I'm probably being too optimistic.

I have yet to read how the 2014 PS matches up to TBR practice content.

I have yet to make a prediction, since I'm still reviewing/improving but a dream score would look like: 12/10/12. If i got that...sigh... should prolly go to sleep now lol

If both PS and VR are harder than the real thing (as others indicate too) why is everyone scoring their AAMC average? Is it simply that the scale is more forgiving since the test actually is harder...? Or is it that it's actually not any harder than the AAMC's collectively?

I am registered for this test after a computer glitch on the last one.

I strongly recommend all of you pay $1 for a sleep cycle app.
set the wakeup period to 30 minutes and it will wake you up PERFECTLY at or 30 minutes before your scheduled wakeup time. It follows the amount of noise you make and the vibrations it receives.

Yeah you definitely need to get that PS up. No way you are getting into med school with that score. Hahaha

Hello my fellow test-takers!
I was wondering if anyone has any tips regarding bringing up a PS score? I feel as though I know the material but the passages screw with my head to much and I miss questions, that when reviewed, I could have gotten correct.

Since everyone is posting there scores, I thought I would join in:
Some updated Scores:

hey guys quick question about resonant wavelength formulas....I dont know why this JUST started confusing me but TPR does a horrible job with making things clear.

Correct me if I am wrong but for both ends open/closed we have: L=(n/2)λ
one end open/closed we have : L=(n/4)λ with n being an odd #

then TPR goes one to talk about these two formulas λn= λ1/n and fn=nf1

...below I typed up the exact wording in the book...my question is when do we know to use each of these?

From TPR:

"The number n is called the harmonic number. The first harmonic is usually called the fundamental because once we know the fundamental λ1, we automatically know all the other harmonic wavelengths because we can write λn in terms of λ1, like this: λn= λ1/n"

next page....

"In the same way that the fundamental wavelength can be used to figure out all the other harmonic wavelengths, the fundamental frequency can be used to figure out all other harmonic frequencies : f=nf1.Regardless of the type of standing wave, the formula to find the appropriate harmonic from the fundamental frequency still holds (fn=nf1)"

Lol I just finish AAMC 11 PS and it wasnt too bad although I feel horribly guilty for looking up one small thing to a question.. lol I almost completely missed the centrifuge passage but I skipped and came back and was like oh yaaa I rode a centrifuge at Disney! ahahaha

lol, I felt like there were too many passages, like I was calm and in the zone, and realized I had a whole extra passage than inially suspected. Had an anxiety attack, and circled random answers the rest of the way thru
